Possibilities and limits of student activation in chemistry education at lower secondary school using didactic games: Particle composition of substances
Šelepa, Jan ; Bílek, Martin (advisor) ; Koperová, Dominika (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the possibilities of activating elementary school students in the topic of particle composition of substances using didactic games. The theoretical part discusses selected significant experts who have dealt with activation in the past, defines the concepts of activity and activation, and their importance in pedagogical practice. It also presents teaching methods and their possible classification, with a particular emphasis on didactic games (their definition, categorization, and significance). Subsequently, an analysis of critical topics in chemistry education at the elementary school level follows, within which a specific area of content ("particle composition of substances") was identified and for which individual didactic games were created. The topic of "particle composition of substances" is further analysed across several currently most used textbooks. The last chapter of the theoretical part focuses on introducing the so-called constructional research, which was chosen as the research method utilised for the purposes of didactic games creation. In the practical part, six protypes of didactic games were developed, which were subsequently modified based on feedback from two experts in the field of chemistry didactics, four experienced chemistry teachers, and their...
Fire Education and Chemistry at Elementary School
Friedlová, Eliška ; Bílek, Martin (advisor) ; Koperová, Dominika (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on the issue of fire education in elementary school and the School's fire protection obligations in relation to the teaching of chemistry. The risk of fire or other dangers is pervasive and can be encountered anywhere. What is important is preventative educational activity already in children at school age, to the extent that everyone can prevent a fire or other accident and respond adequately to it at the outset. The theoretical part is focusing on the characteristics of the connection of fire safety and protection to education at lower secondary education. It contains an analysis of available documents, including curriculum documents (Framework Educational Programme for Elementary Education and selected School Educational Programmes, chemistry textbooks, and other methodological materials) and topics of chemistry instruction that are closely related to fire safety and protection. The practical part, which contains teaching activities for students with topics related to fire safety and protection suitable for lower secondary chemistry education, are prepared or adapted. The prepared materials were reviewed by group of teachers and other experts in the field and their evaluation shows that the prepared materials are beneficial for the current practice of primary school...
The use of Augmented Reality in Chemistry Education at Lower Secondary School
Pospíšilová, Kristýna ; Bílek, Martin (advisor) ; Kuhnová, Marta (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the use of elements of augmented reality in the teaching of chemistry at lower secondary school. We chose to use augmented reality in teaching because of the constant development of digital technologies and the effort to involve them more in education. In the theoretical part, we deal with the phenomenon of augmented reality and its use in education. We present several augmented reality applications that can be used in the teaching of chemistry, of which we focus more closely on the VividBooks applications, with which we work in the practical part. Furthermore, the theoretical part presents the topics of chemistry teaching in the framework educational programmes for lower secondary education (RVP ZV) and in the school educational programme (ŠVP) of the Velvary Elementary School, in which the AR VividBooks application was used and examined. We also describe the principles of the case study, which we used as a research method in the practical part. In the practical part, we started implementing a case study with introductory interviews with pupils and teaching assistants of the eighth grade of Velvary Elementary school. This was followed by six lessons using AR VividBooks applications in all three classes, during which we described the activity and reactions of the...
Effectiveness of the use of information technologies in the topic of waste and waste technologies in the lower secondary chemistry education
Vyskočil, Ondřej ; Bílek, Martin (advisor) ; Koperová, Dominika (referee)
The thesis deals with the issue of the generation, processing and subsequent use of waste and the verification of the effectiveness of a set of activities on Waste and Waste Technology using information technologies in the teaching of chemistry in the 9th grade of primary school. The theoretical part provides a brief insight into waste and waste treatment, including the technologies used for this purpose. This issue is also examined in terms of its occurrence in the two levels of the state and school curriculum and in the most commonly used chemistry textbooks in primary school. The information technologies used are then based on an analysis of the newly introduced area of Computer Science. The practical part describes and evaluates the implementation of complex activities on the topic of Waste and Waste Technology in block teaching in the 9th grade of primary school using qualitative research in the form of a case study, and the results confirm that this topic can be implemented as designed, including the information technologies used. KEYWORDS waste, waste technologies, chemistry education, information technology, case study
