Creativity in visual arts

Motivation seems to be one of the important variables which might have an effect on creativity. It can have a positive but also a negative impact on creativity. In this thesis motivations of fine artists are examined and the extent to which art might effect personality profile of fine artists is considered. In theoretical part, firstly, art, forms of art and the psychology of art are defined. Further artwork as a product of artistic process, structure of personality and specifically the personality of fine artists are described. A complexity of creativity as a phenomenon is presented. Finally motivation from the social psychology of creativity point of view is explained. The aim of this master thesis is to examine certain psychosocial personality traits of fine artists by the Achievement Motivation Inventory LMI and discovered whether there are significant differences in personality traits of fine artists and control group of "non-artists" interested in economy and business (n=63). Our results support the foreign studies results and indicate that artists score significantly higher in Flow, Pride in Productivity and Independence. The work of Sylvain Chomet

The theme of the diploma thesis is the work of French animator and director Sylvain Chomet. Chomet is introduced as the most significant figure in contemporary French animation. By analysis of three of his films is examined Chomet's contribution in the field of feature animation. The focus is placed on the film The Triplets of Belleville, which is considered the most impressive Chomet's film. The goal is a comprehensive view of his past film work in the context of the epoch. Marginally, this work also deals with Chomet's participation in the field of feature film and not least with his comics work. Part of the text is also aimed at Chomet's collaboration with artists Nicolas De Crécy and Evgeni Tomov with aim on the illustrator De Crécy, who is currently one of the leading French artists.

This bachelor's thesis deals with the German conceptual artist and photographer Hans-Peter Feldmann. The monograph is divided into four parts. The first chapter describes Feldmann's live. It is followed by the main part about his work, where his crucial subjects are analyzed, such as collecting and everyday life. The third chapter discusses the specific attitude Feldmann has towards himself. The closing part puts Feldmann's work into a broader context.

The thesis deals with the important figure of the 20th century Czech art Stanislav Kolíbal. The text includes an authentic interview from June 2014. The interview is interspersed with comments and divided into thematic parts: Minimalism, East and West, Changes in Art, Space, Place, and Transferability of Artworks, Photographic Imaging of Visual Arts, Original and Copy, the Theory of Art. The thesis deals with opinions and attitudes of the artist of the oldest productive generation.
Recycling Photography

This thesis analyzes the method of recycling photography in art. Recycling is meant as usage of appropriated photos as a material to produce new work of art. The method is examined on the example of artist Christian Boltanski, who has been using this method consistently from 60's up to the present day.

FAMU Department of Photography Final masters thesis reflecting life and work of photographer and famous artist Susan Hiller (*1940), american-british author, in context of her experiences and life period. This work includes main works, an interview with author's close friend and colleague Simon Read. As well with an analysis of Hiller's last project "Gedanken sind frei" (Thoughts are free) presented in dOCUMENTA(13) in Kassel, Germany. To this Master thesis is attached audiovisual documentation of Susan Hiller's conceptual project from Kassel which was made directly for purposes of this text.
Jan Svankmajer- inspiration by literature and theatre

Summary: The subject of this thesis is an analysis of literary and theatrical inspiration (E. A. Poe, D. A. F. Sade, Ch. D. Grabbe, L. Carrol, V. de l?Isle-Adam, H. Walpole, J. W. Goethe, Ch. Marlowe, Baroque and popular plays, Gothic fiction, fairy tales) in Jan Švankmajer?s short (The Last Trick, Punch and Judy, Don Juan, Jabberwocky, Castle of Otranto, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Pendulum, the Pit and Hope) and full-feature (Alice, Faust, Little Otik, Lunacy). The goal of the thesis is to investigate how these sources of inspiration are handled in the final films, how the original topics are translated to other media and how their meaning is developed or reshaped. As regards theatrical inspiration, the thesis describes the transfer of formal means of expression typical for theatre (black light theatre, masked actors, hand puppet theatre, etc.) into film as well as the author?s relationship to puppets and the crucial impact of this relationship on his work.
Animation oeuvre of Libuše Čihařová

This thesis deals with the animation oeuvre of Libuše Čihařová. The first part describes the history of Afit and Studio Bratři v triku and the first experience of Libuše Čihařová in Studio Bratři v triku. The next part is devoted to her drawing and animating work in 1950?s and 1960?s. The third part deals with beginning of Večerníček, a TV programme for children and also short films and serials that Libuše Čihařová animated. The last part id devoted mostly to her works as a director and a pedagogue. This thesis also explores acknowledged films and great directors with whom Libuše Čihařová worked. Two intervews with Libuše Čihařová are parts of the thesis.
