Král, Ondřej ; Gürtler,, Ivan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
Topic of this master thesis is a design of a synagogue together with Jewish community facilities in Trutnov. The thesis is made in the phase of architectural study. Assigned site is located near the historical center of Trutnov. There is a reminder of the old synagogue that was burned out during WW2. There is also newly reconstructed park around it. It is connected not only with the synagogue but also with communal life, education, celebrations, or art. That is why the proposal is connecting all the functions under one roof and the synagogue is “guarding” all of them from above. The building has three floors. On the lowest floor, there is underground garage. On the ground floor we can find space for Jewish community administration, room for exhibitions, mikveh and kitchen part for the kosher restaurant. The upper floor is mostly terrace. There is only kosher restaurant and synagogue.

Gallery of modern architecture
Štrocholcová, Eva ; Ing. arch. Petra Žalmanová, Ph.D (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor)
Main task of the project was to create a proposal of Gallery of architecture which would be integrated into the residential colony in context of surrounding city structure. The plot is situated on south-west of the city part Brno-sever, in close connection with city centre, in steep slope. Currently, its function is a garden of adjacent plots. The plot is located close to the national cultural monument Villa Tugendhat, registered in The World Heritage List. Therefore, the new gallery should react to its existence. Proposal suggests locating of new object in north-eastern part of the plot for maximal usage of plot’s main potential that is a view to historical city centre. Main intention of design was a sensitive intervention to the area to keep calm atmosphere of surrounding residential colony with significant villas and to use potential and topographical advantages of the parcel. At the same time there was an effort to find a concept that would provides suitable conditions for exhibitions. The proposal tries to maximize usage of natural lighting which plays here an important role. Building seems to be a single storey object from the street. 2 floors are recessed into terrain and thanks to this overcome high difference between street and terrace in lower part of the plot. Object is divided into 3 functional units: The Gallery (exhibition area), The Studios (leasable space for architects for work and presentation of their projects) and The Theatre (space for other activities focused on architecture, such as lectures and projections). Walls and roofs of units are inclined to utilize potentials of site for the specific function and become polygonal shapes that meet the initial intention. Glassed inclined plane penetrates through the interior of gallery. It defines a spatial skylight that lets natural light from the north come to every corner of Gallery. It creates relationship between interior and exterior and connects all the functional units of the object.
Mikulášek Square Brno
Švéda, Petr ; Fišer, Jiří (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor) ; Štěpánek, Ladislav (advisor)
The bachelor’s thesis solves one of the buildings of an extensive designed urban area in Mikulášek Square in Starý Lískovec, Brno. The area is spreading between two rows of eight-floor-blocks. Main goal of this project is to preserve the green areas for recreation purposes and to create an urban square that will be used as a public space with all of the community functions. That goal is accomplished by using the green roofs, the buildings, sunken halfway under a surrounding terrain, and by the soil-covered back sides of building. That enables access to the roofs for public; roofs become a part of the park. The organic-shaped urban “double-square” is spanned by a pedestrian bridge for an easier traffic. The main idea of The Cultural Center proposal is based on variability of space. Around the cultural hall, from all four sides, there is a gallery, which enables wider usage (e. g. for an avant-garde theatre performance). A huge multi-level common and an exhibition space are ones of most important spaces. The visitors will be able to have an exhilarating experience of exciting dimension of space. The Cultural Center is connected to surroundings via both floors. That makes it possible to organize some outdoor cultural performances which can easily continue to the interior.

As well as that, the requirement was to create space for a permanent exposition. The designed manufacturing object is divided into numerous separate parts. The building consists of an entryway, permanent exhibition, convenient facilities for visitors as well as facilities for the employees, which are all located on the first floor. The administrative section of the building is located on the second floor, along with the offices and a terrace. The two floors are connected by a stairway and an elevator that is barrier free. The manufacturing part of the building consists of two separate units. Firstly, it is the hall for the manufacture of the aquariums, which is equipped with a crane rail. Secondly, it is the carpentry. The flat green roofs will cover the whole building. In addition, the two floor part of the building is designed with a white fasade, and the manufacturing part of the building is designed with facade in a tone of gray. Additionally, large

LABORARTORY BRNO
Šiška, Jaroslav ; Drápal, Jaroslav (referee) ; Makovský, Zdeněk (advisor)
The subject of this proposal is a galery of architecture understood in a greater sense as a temple of architecture. Urbanism is together with layout and operating opportunities strictly subordinated to this strong theme. Emphasis coming out of urban-related solution is highlighting the subordination of the interrelations. Also, the concept of the predominantly artificial lighting of the galery is supporting the philosophy of the proposal as well as the stability of the illuminated exposition. The emphasis is also put on the exposed artwork and the way it can be admired without any disturbing factors.

Štukheil, Petr ; Drápal, Jaroslav (referee) ; Makovský, Zdeněk (advisor)
The gallery of modern art, design and architecture is situated on Koliště and Milady Horákové corner in Brno. The concept is influenced by busy surroundings and peaceful silhouette of the city. The composition of the gallery is based on two simple blocks. One of them is concrete; the second – soaring part is paneled by corten. This is the contrast between administrative and exhibition part of the gallery. The building visually encloses the Kapitána Jaroše Boulevard. Multifunctional exhibition space is designed for many kinds of exposition. The most impressive element of the main exhibition hall is a beautiful view of the historical centre of Brno. There is upper day lighting in main hall. The other halls are artificially lighted or totally darkling during some multimedia exposition. White face concrete is the prevailing material in the interior of the gallery just like a reinforced concrete structure is the main structure of the building.
