Problems of teaching Spanish pronuntiation
TONAROVÁ, Adéla
This thesis investigates the issue of teaching Spanish pronunciation in Czech educational settings, with a particular focus on the graphemes c (preceding the vowels e, i), z, and s in Spanish, along with associated pronunciation phenomena: the differentiation between // and /s/, seseo, and ceceo. Primarily, it identifies common pronunciation errors made by Czech students in the selected phenomenon and analyses the underlying causes of these errors. The introductory part explains the correct articulation of these graphemes in Spanish and the associated pronunciation phenomena. Furthermore, it informs about pronunciation levels based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CERF) and Plan curricular del Instituto Cervantes. Subsequently, the thesis provides a detailed description and analysis of research conducted on the Spanish pronunciation of twenty Czech high school students, focusing on the selected phenomenon. Moreover, the thesis examines responses of university students concerning the teaching of Spanish pronunciation in the educational institutions they attended prior to university enrolment. The research results are then compared with the requirements set in the curriculum documents. Finally, the thesis proposes some exercises to eliminate pronunciation errors.

Program to support correct pronunciation of foreign languages
Malucha, Jan ; Kohl,, Ing, Zdeněk (referee) ; Sigmund, Milan (advisor)
The aim of the diploma thesis is the development of an autonomous program for checking and evaluating the pronunciation of a foreign language. Theoretical part includes a treatise on the history and importance of computer-assisted language teaching; it also contains a brief introduction to phonetics, phonology and pronunciation issues, as well as an introduction to speech signal processing with a focus on computational methods for pronunciation analysis. In the practical part, a search of currently widespread and available tools for pronunciation control was processed and a number of algorithms usable for its analysis were programmed. Some of the algorithms have been enclosed in a graphical user interface as a basic prototype of a functional program to support pronunciation. The achieved results and the direction of further development are discussed in the conclusion.

Přízvuk a redukce nepřízvučných slabik u českých uživatelů angličtiny: britská vs. americká angličtina
UNGER, Filip
This Diploma thesis studies the ability of Czech users of English to distinguish stress-related pronunciation aspects of British and American English, and to utilize this in their own speech. In the first part, therefore, I identify and describe the most prominent differences in the two regional standards. In the second part, after working with Czech participants using a dialogue, a prepared text and questionnaires about recordings of native British and American speakers, I present findings on the variables explored. I also study the general awareness in Czech users of English of the stress-related pronunciation differences between British and American English by means of a questionnaire sent to randomly chosen Czech natives. The conclusions of this thesis serve as practical recommendations for the teaching of English pronunciation in Czech schools, and suggest possible ways of broadening the thesis.
Singing and chosen musical instruments as means for speech development and correct pronunciation in kindergarden
TRNKOVÁ, Denisa
In my bachelor thesis, I deal with singing and selected musical instruments for speech development and correct pronunciation in kindergarten. I dealt with music education in kindergarten, both from the point of view of teacher preparation in kindergarten, and various issues that can accompany kindergarten children in this field. For this reason, I tried to combine speech and pronunciation with music education, because in this age category, correct speech and pronunciation are the basis for functional future communication. Furthermore, in my bachelor thesis there is a weekly plan where I try to involve music education as a means of better speech and pronunciation of individual letters. I chose letters with which children tend to have a majority problem.
