Stupková, Petra ; Buriánková, Jitka (advisor) ; Vokounová, Šárka (referee)
Author: Bc. Petra Stupková Supervisor: Mgr. Jitka Buriánková Title: Knowledge of dentists about Temporomandibular joint dysfunction in Czech area Aims: The main aim of the thesis is to map the knowledge of dentists regarding temporomandibular joint disorders from the perspective of physiotherapy and contribute to improving interdisciplinary collaboration. Methods: The aim of the thesis is to map the awareness of dentists in the Czech Republic regarding the issues of functional disorders in the temporomandibular joint from the perspective of physiotherapy and the state of interdisciplinary cooperation. Furthermore, it seeks to enhance the awareness of interdisciplinary collaboration between these two professions. Results: A survey conducted among dentists practicing in the Czech Republic reveals that they observe a very low incidence of temporomandibular disorders among their patients. Dentists who refer their patients for physiotherapy report the treatment outcomes as unequivocally positive. The most common reason for referring patients to physiotherapy is pain in the area of the temporomandibular joint. On the other hand, the main reason why some dentists do not refer their patients for physiotherapy is the lack of availability of specialized physiotherapists. A significant majority of respondents...

Possibilities of physiotherapy for acquired temporomandibular joint dysfunction
RADOŠOVÁ, Kristýna
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of acquired temporomandibular joint disorders and focuses on the possibilities of influence from the perspective of physiotherapy. Any change in the function of this constantly stressed joint affects individuals throughout the day. The temporomandibular joint participates in activities such as speaking or chewing, which we perform from early hours, making its behavior beyond physiological properties a very pressing matter. Changes arise due to various causes, often of non-uniform nature. The aim of the thesis is to map these acquired dysfunction causes. The theoretical part consists of basic anatomical knowledge of the jaw joint, masticatory, and hyoid muscles. Furthermore, it includes a chapter on kinesiology, etiological factors, and possible causes of acquired dysfunction, as well as specific TMJ disorders. The last chapter discusses treatment options both surgically and conservatively. The main goal of the practical part is to assess the effect of the performed physiotherapeutic intervention. The research form is qualitative, and the sample consists of three women aged 22-23, whose data are processed into three case studies. Participants experienced symptoms such as jaw joint pain, occurrence of auditory phenomena, or changes in lower jaw mobility. Individually tailored therapy involves influencing symptoms and their reduction, with emphasis on home autotherapy. The final therapy evaluation is based on comparing the initial and final kinesiological analyses.
Image processing of MRI
Němcová, Simona ; Jiřík, Radovan (referee) ; Krátká, Lucie (advisor)
This thesis deals with the cartilage imaging using magnetic resonance. At first, there is mentioned physical principle of the magnetic resonance phenomenon and the most commonly used excitation sequences, followed by the description of the 9.4 T MR imaging system Bruker BioSpec 94/30 USR, which was used for measurement in the practical part. The next part is dedicated to the composition of cartilages and describes the temporomandibular joint, due to its suitability as an object for cartilage imaging. The series of MR scans of temporomandibular joint were taken with different acquisition parameters and evaluated by program designed through the MATLAB software. The program can be used for viewing scanned images, evaluating their contrast and determining the T1 relaxation time of the tissues by creating T1 maps.

In the thesis, research study of solutions system is done for anatomy of TMJ, mandible and masticatory muscles. Main producers and ma-terials for manufacturing TJR is mentioned furthermore. Finally, stress strain analysis for TJR is done by computing modeling using finite element method on the basis of re-search study.
Stress-Strain Analysis of Total Endoprosthesis of Temporomandibular Joint
Horňas, Jan ; Valášek, Jiří (referee) ; Marcián, Petr (advisor)
The presented master’s thesis deals with the problem of the application of total endoprosthesis (TEP) during temporomandibular joint (TMJ) replacement. The implantation of TEP occurs due the severe TMJ disease (arthrosis, ankylosis, cancer) or its macrotrauma. Condylar prosthesis is fixed during the implantation by self-tapping screws to the mandible. This fixation causes a change of stress-strain behaviour of mandible, TEP and fixation screws. In the thesis is performed the stress-strain analysis by using computational modeling in use the finite element method (FEM). Analysis is performed for six different screws positions (the number of screws is unchanged) and for a variable the static friction coefficient (in range 0.1 to 0.11) between condylar prosthesis (CP) and fossa prosthesis (FP). Altogether, 36 variants of computational models were created. The stress strain analysis detected a substantial influence of the static friction coefficient value to final results of displacements, contact pressure on the articulation surface between the CP and the FP and also to von Mises stress of the CP. A substantial influence of different screws position is detected for von Mises stress in the screws and for von Mises strain in the cortical and spongious bone tissue.
Nutrition after temporomandibular surgery
Machoňová, Natálie ; Machoň, Vladimír (advisor) ; Vlachopulos, Vasilis (referee)
Nutrition after temporomandibular joint surgery is very specific but defined by clear rules. Patients in recovery receive a mixed diet for the first 3 days and then, if there are no complications, switch to a soft food diet. Many patients are concerned about postoperative pain, the overall course of hospitalization, and how the mixed food will not only taste but also look. Therefore, it is important to consider the patient's opinion regarding hospital food and how the intake of recommended food affects weight loss during recovery. The first goal was to compare weight changes in the observed hospitalized patients at the time of surgery and 5 days after surgery. The second goal was to evaluate the patient's diet after surgery and determine how satisfaction affected weight loss. The third goal was to evaluate patient use of nutritional supplements. The practical part was evaluated from the responses of a questionnaire survey, which involved 16 patients hospitalized in the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery at VFN from January 2023 to March 2023, who underwent temporomandibular joint reconstruction by total replacement. The same patients were subsequently monitored for weight changes. The results showed that the average weight difference of patients after temporomandibular joint surgery was 1,2 kg. It...

Mičánková, Kateřina ; Šedý, Jiří (advisor) ; Kachlík, David (referee)
This thesis focuses on the comparison of results of dental and kinesiological examination, medical history, PHQ-4 questionnaires and X-rays between a group with symptoms of temporomandibular disorder and an asymptomatic group. The theoretical part summarizes anatomy and kinesiology of the temporomandibular joint and also epidemiology, etiology, symptomatology, classification, examination and treatment of temporomandibular disorders. The main goal was to compare differences between the two groups in muscle tenderness or pain on palpation, range of active depression of the mandible and active dorsiflexion of the cervical spine. Methods: A total of 30 patients were included in the study, out of which 18 were in the symptomatic group (mean age 44.8, SD ± 11.6 years) and 12 in the control group (mean age 36.9, SD ± 13.9 years). The participants underwent a clinical examination, which consisted of thorough collection of medical history, dental and kinesiological examination and X-rays (anteroposterior, lateral, panoramic), the participant also filled in the PHQ-4 questionnaire. Results: Muscle tenderness or pain on palpation in the symptomatic group was significant (p = 0.019). There was not a significant difference in depression of the mandible between the groups (p = 0.26). Range of active dorsiflexion...

FRIDRICHOVSKÝ, Radek
This bachelor thesis deals with the possibilities of physiotherapeutic intervetion of headaches of vertebrogenic etiology. The therapy of all patients is based off of the same principle and a similar approach resp. manual treatment of overworked and shortened muscles, adjusting the breathing stereotype, correcting basic movement stereotypes, engaging of the deep stabilisation system through picked exercises and exercising autotherapy given to the patient. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part is focused on anatomical structures related to the issue, following is the clinical picture and differential diagnosis of headaches, prevalence and possibilities of physiotherapy. Practical part is comprised of the exercise unit, made using the methods from the theoretical part, and the actual research, processed in the qualitative form, containing the entry and final kinesiological examination alongside the course of therapy of three female patients of similar age. Based on the entry kinesiological examination each patient had their exercise unit tailored for them, which the patient was instructed to exercise three times a week. The research was planned for two months, with two out of three patients having the total of 8 sessions, the first patient was unable to attend two therapies due to COVID-19 infection. There is a summary and the achieved effect described at the end of each case study. Next i focus on discussion, in which i summarize the aspects of the theoretical part with the results of the practical part, i also include a few recent publications focused on headaches and way of treating them. The thesis is finished with a summary and a list of used sources.
