Educational attitude to swimming lessons of preschool children: Coaches´ reflection.
DEBNAROVÁ, Tereza
Background: Thanks to the post-revolutionary changes, children's swimming lessons in our country have undergone some development. The Association of Swimming Schools, which associates swimming schools in the Czech Republic, has also been established and there have been changes in the education of coaches and swimming instructors. The so - called Framework Educational Program for Preschool Education included swimming as one of the optional interest - based offers. In addition to swimming schools, at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, there were also so - called baby clubs, which offered, among other things, infant swimming. In our country there is currently a network offering different types of courses taught by coaches and instructors with a valid licence. Objectives: To find out what is the coaches'attitude to swimming for pre-school children, how they perceive the training of this target group themselves. The partial aim was to find out the differences in coaching, methodology and how these differences are reflected in the development of children according to coaches. Methods: This is a thematic analysis where observation was used for data collection, in combination with semi - structured interviews of selected respondents with relation to the given issue. The interview participants were coaches of former or current swimming schools or courses. The acquired data was openly coded for analysis, then data from observations and interviews were paired with literature data. Results and Conclusions: The aims of the bachelor thesis were fulfilled. This study could be a good guide for a deeper understanding of the methodology and training of children in this specific target group in Czech republic.
