Proposal to Introduce a Tax on Sugar in the Czech Republic

This thesis focuses on the implementation of a sugar tax in the Czech Republic and evaluates the tax from the perspective of expected profitability. Attention is paid to the arguments for taxing sugar, specifically its negative impact on public health. The introduction of a sugar tax in the Czech Republic is based on the experience of selected countries, which have introduced a sugar tax. The effects and impacts of this tax have been compared and analysed. The result of the thesis is a proposal of sugar taxation under our conditions and the shortcomings occurring in the observed countries are eliminated.
Sugar storage tank

The matter of this thesis is static design and examination of prestressed storage tank to 50000 tons of sugar. Computational model of the steel roof structure is processed and its effect on the silos. Loads is provided of sugar. Optimal design is performed and assessment ultimate and serviceability limit state reinforced concrete and prestressing horizontal silo wall including local load. Next, it is performed the design of a reinforced concrete of the plane bed and column and assessment at the ultimate limit state. The thesis is also drawing documentation, technical report and visualization of construction process. The aim of this work is to the design of the main components based on the required storage capacity tank, mechanical properties of the stored material and technical amenities.

The bachelor thesis is a literary research devoted to energy drinks. The introductory part of the thesis describes the general characteristics of energy drinks, their history and legislation. Next part of the work is focused on the availability of energy drinks on the Czech market, their production and individual raw materials used for production. The thesis further describes natural alternatives that are used for the production of energy drinks, which include Panax ginseng, Guarana, Ilex paraguariensis, Ginkgo biloba and Cola nitida. The last part is devoted to the physical and chemical methods used for the analysis of individual components of energy drinks, such as the determination of carbohydrates, organic acids, vitamins, alkaloids, antioxidants, amino acids, inositol and glucuronolactone.

Export of a Food Product of the Selected Company to the European Union Market

This thesis deals with the expansion of the sugar product to the European Union market. The aim of this work is to recommend a suitable expansion strategy, analyze the selected market and evaluate the market potential for the entry of the selected company. We will focus on the survey of the Hungarian market, which is currently interesting for the company, we will examine the issue and then analyze it. In conclusion, we will find out whether it is worth entering this market and quantify the possible first steps. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the possibilities of entering the European Union market are selected. In the analytical part we‘ve analyzed the selected market and at the end of the work is proposed a strategy for entry.
Knowing of parents about the risks associated with high intake of simple sugars in preschool and early school children

This book is about the most common risks associated with excessive sugar intake in young children. The theoretical part first discusses the chemical side of carbohydrates, their types and mode of metabolism. We will remember how carbohydrates are divided, why they play an irreplaceable role in our body, and I also mention which types of carbohydrates we should give our children daily and which, on the contrary, exceptionally. Furthermore, the most common types of sugar and sweeteners (eg honey, chicory syrup, cane sugar), which we probably know from ordinary households or advertisements, are listed in the theoretical part. Here I summarize their properties, uses and refute some myths. Then I briefly mention the history of sugar use. In the next part I mention individual diseases and complications associated with excessive sugar intake. They pay more attention to obesity, because the disease is spreading more and more in our young population and its negative effects are huge. Not only on the health side of the child and his development, but also on the psychological side, which in my opinion is very little associated with obesity. Pilot questioning of patological addiction on food - investigation accomplished in selected Prague fast food restaurants and sweetshops

This thesis deals with the phenomenon of food addiction. The research was held among the customers of Prague sweetshops, fast foods and supermarkets. The aim of this work is to find the prevalence of this phenomenon if Prague population, which visits these organizations. The second aim of this work is to deal with prevalence of food dependence in relation with social - demographic readings, such as gender, age, the highest education and a level of month salary. It pays attention to the high incidence of different criterion of food addiction. Finally it deals with problematic foodstuff. This thesis is divided into two parts. The first theoretical part deals with the problems of food dependence. According to the bibliographic search this work reports on diagnostic methods for this illness and on most frequent problematic foodstuff, like additives in food. For better understanding of this problem I include to my work differences between eating disorders, obesity and food addiction. Sugar addiction among abstinent clients in the psychiatric hospital Bohnice

The topic of the thesis focuses on nutrition for people recovering from alcohol addiction.The theoretical part of the thesis is to detect excessive use of sugar abstinent women in a psychiatric hospital and common characteristics depending on the seasoning.This section will be described alcohol, its production, its effects and impact on human health. Also described are the mechanisms of physical and psychological dependence on sugar. The harmfulness of sugar on the human body and the effect on his health. It pointed to the eating habits abstinent women in a psychiatric hospital. In the practical part of the thesis using quantitative research focuses on finding eating habits, specifically the amount of consumption of sugar-containing foods, with clients Bohnice Psychiatric Hospital, patients recovering from alcohol addiction. The aim of this section is to determine whether the amount of sugar accepted during the stay in a psychiatric hospital creates dependency on the delicacies. Influence of sugar consumption on children`s obesity and other comorbidities

Consumption of sugar, sugar-containing food and drinks, related health risks and change of life style in our population are currently addressed issues with negative consequences already observed in childhood. The aim of the diploma thesis was to study the consumption of sugar and foods containing sugar in children attending kindergarten and 1st grade of elementary school. The theoretical part was focused on an overview of knowledge about sugars, both naturally occurring and added, and health risks associated with frequent consumption of foods containing added sugars. In the practical part, the consumption of these foods in terms of quantity and various forms and its influence on the development of childhood obesity and other metabolic diseases was monitored. At the same time, other aspects of children's lifestyle that could determine children's obesity were identified. The basis of the practical part was a questionnaire survey using questions determining eating habits of children. The research showed a relationship between the BMI of children above the 75th percentile and more frequent sweets consumption and less frequent active (sports) and natural physical activities.
