Evaluation of the Commercial Risk at Exporting to China
Polák, Josef ; Dostál, Petr (referee) ; Laitochová, Jitka (referee) ; Žufan, Pavel (referee) ; Zinecker, Marek (advisor)
This PhD thesis focuses on current issues of commercial risk in international trade, particularly on the evaluation of commercial risk when exporting to China. This PhD thesis presents initial theoretical framework for solution of the problem and also presents statistical results of primary research conducted for Czech exporters necessary to meet the objectives of the dissertation. The aim of this PhD thesis is to construct the model for assessment of commercial risks of exporting to China. The constructed model is probabilistic model, while outcoming results of resulting commercial risk rating based on the averaging of the probable costs or losses caused by the effects of commercial risk which may arise in exporting business entity at unsecured contract, and may take considerable values. The constructed model allows both, to calculate with costs in their absolute probable values as well as to calculate with costs in their relative values as percentages of the contract value. The issue of trade with China is broad and encompasses several disciplines. This implies a large potential for further research which aims in particular to the modeling of knowledge, and by extension created the probabilistic model to the knowledge model.
Towards a general model of cultural inheritance
Hillerová, Pavlína ; Tureček, Petr (advisor) ; Šaffa, Gabriel (referee)
Hypertrophied human culture is based on a specific propensity for social learning. During the transmission of information, a myriad of external and internal influences act on both the transmitor and recipient. Previous studies have focused on various biases (prestige bias, which causes, among others, a tendency to learn from older and more experienced individuals, or negative information bias, which makes us more likely to remember what to avoid etc.) that influence which cultural variants will successfully spread and how they will evolve. Some works delve into (among other things, bias-induced) cultural attraction, i.e., the tendency to transform information in a particular direction, while others treat cultural elements as genes; as nearly immutable entities. Almost all of them, however, (1.) model culture as composed from discrete entities and (2.) move within a single framework that they try to explore thoroughly. The present thesis attempts to bridge these gaps and to show the possibilities of studying cultural traits on a continuous scale. Using data from an application styled as a trivia guessing game, it aims to quantify the influence of different factors on the transmission of cultural information. Participants are presented with previous participants' estimates of different lengths, weights and...
Analysis of fluctuation of labourers
Zeman, Ondřej ; Maciak, Matúš (advisor) ; Komárek, Arnošt (referee)
The main goal of this thesis is to analyse the fluctuation of the employees in a well established Czech manufacturing company. Due to the GDPR regulations, the underlying company is kept anonymised in this thesis. The data were transformed into longitudinal data and the GEE methodology was used for the analysis of the fluctuation. In the first chapter, an introduction to the problem and a short description of the data is provided. The second chapter contains some theoretical description of the GEE methodology and the QIC information criterion. In the third chapter, multiple models for a binary and multinomial response are fitted to the data and their results are described in detail. This allows us to describe the influence of various factors to the fluctuation of the employees in the underlying company. 1

In this paper, we describe briefly ongoing work on a project devoted to development and pilot verification of a system for highway truck parking detection and forecasting. The project has been funded by the Technological Agency of the Czech Republic (TACR) during 2012-2014 as the project number TA02031411: “Increasing the usage of parking capacity on highways using prediction models”. It is based on a unique collaboration of Faculty of Transportation Sciences, Czech Technical University in Prague, Institute of Computer Science, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Inoxive Ltd. and Kapsch Telematic Services Ltd.
