The ratio of second to fourth digit length and sport performance in recreational and top snowboarders
Švehla, Jakub ; Pivoňková, Věra (advisor) ; Lindová, Jitka (referee)
The second (index finger) to fourth (ring finger) digit length ratio (2D:4D) is known to be a putative marker of prenatal exposure to the testosterone. It has been reported that fetal testosterone may be critical for development of morphological and psychological traits such as quality of the cardiovascular system, visuo-spatial ability, risk-taking behavior and behavioral masculinity. Testosterone-driven attributes are associated with success in male-to- male physical competition, which may be proxied by ability in sports. Many studies have found that 2D:4D is sexually dimorphic and low (male-typical) 2D:4D ratio is associated with athletic performance. This study aims to investigate possible associations of performance in sport with 2D:4D ratio, personality characteristics (Big Five model), willing to take risks and training habits, in a sample of 57 top and 57 recreational snowboard racers. We did not find any associations between 2D:4D ratio and sport performance, no significant differences were found in 2D:4D ratio between samples. We found negative associations between agreeableness and sport performance; individuals with low agreeableness achieved higher results in the real competition of freestyle snowboarding. Low agreeableness used to be associated with aggressiveness, emulation and...

Faltus, Jiří ; Bednář, Miloš (advisor) ; Jebavá, Jana (referee)
Title: ReiKi as a Legal Doping in Sports Problem specification: In professional sport performance is a variable, which influences almost everything. The sportsmen are aware of that and they feel under the pressure. That is why many of them use the illegal doping. But is it really the only way? We have already learned to train the corporeal part and later even the psychical part. Is not logical to pay the same attention to the spiritual part? Is it possible, that for example influence of a spiritual energy (ReiKi and familiar methods) could affect the sport performance? Objectives: To proof or disprove a hypothesis about accepting the spiritual energy and its influence on sport performance and alternatively suggest particular application of this factor in sport practice. To offer an alternative way to accomplish better performance without using unhealthy drugs to sportsmen is the general objective of this work. Methods: The work was solved in a form of studying the cases using some couples of monozygotic twins. The basic idea lay in placement one of the sibling to the program of regular ReiKi therapies. The twins did the same kind of sports, in which was observed their performance. To get more complex point of view there were placed even regular sportsmen to the research. These sportsmen went...

Vančura, Jakub ; Heller, Jan (advisor) ; Kaplan, Aleš (referee)
Title: The effect of vibration training on the Power Plate on human performance Objectives: Following the training schedule, the groups will be tested and results compared; as well as the study results revealed. Methods: In my diploma work I set out to test 16 individuals, who undergo an 8 week training program on the Power Plate vibration technology machine. Eight women and eight men will be separated into two groups. The first group (four men, and four women) will exercise on a vibrating machine, whereas the second group will exercise on the machine without any vibrational stimulus. Explosive agilities (Boscuv test - longest air-time). Reaction speed (auditory reaction to a beep signal, and reactometer test for both the upper and lower limbs. Flexibility (testing a sitting hamstring reach). Antropometric testing (Body mass, girth, active muscle weight, BMI). In order to be able to judge development, as well as to gauge kinesiologic abilities, I applied a number of special tests. The results of individual results are noted in the tables. The T-test was applied as a statistics method. Results: Through repeated measure, it was discovered that the group training on the Power Plate achieved improvements in three out of four tests. Two tests showed above average results against standard, especially in...
