When Men Dance. Construction of Masculinity in Male Pole Dancers
Postránecká, Markéta ; Sokolová, Věra (advisor) ; Jiroutová Kynčlová, Tereza (referee)
This diploma thesis examines current phenomenon of pole dance/sport. This activity which was originally performed in strip clubs was relatively recently redefined as a fitness activity offered at pole dancing studios initially for women, but now also for men. Despite the efforts to redefined pole dance as a fitness activity in the eyes of the public pole dance is still associated with its erotic roots and (therefore) with women. According to previous research pole dance is seen as a feminine and feminized activity. Men's participation in these activities is, according to studies, associated with the belief that those men are effeminate or homosexual and therefore construct their gender identity in ways which are inconsistent with the social ideas of masculinity. In this thesis I explore the ways in which male pole dancers construct their masculinity within this unique environment. I also explore what participation in the world of pole dance mean to men who take pole dancing classes and/or who teach them as well as the stereotypes placed upon men to act in a certain way to be considered masculine. In this research I also discuss the role of the body on construction of masculinity. Data were collected via semi-structured interviews with six Czech male pole dancers over the age of 18 and examined...

Do both offices have a systematic and comprehensive procedure for archiving of shots and programmes? And are these archives easily traceable, available and usable for further broadcasting? The thesis summarizes the history of archiving of news and sport audio-visual material. The key process of digitization, which allows the transcription and saving of old archive materials stored on tape media, is also mentioned. After describing the history of archiving, the author focuses on the current methodology of the process and describes the system of archiving in news and sports news. Who does archiving and what systems and programmes are used for it? At the end of this thesis the future of archiving is analysed with regard to the progress in technologies used for archiving.

Krčová, Daniela ; Chytilová, Eva (advisor) ; Krupičková, Zdislava (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the issue of protein intake in fitness strength sports. Proteins are one of the most important nutrient for strength athletes because muscle mas is made up of about 20% of proteins. Because of athlete's desire for a well-balanced muscular body, they attach proteins a major role and often overstate their significance. Bodybuilding and other strength sports are often associated with extreme protein intake, which can lead to negative health effects (deficiency of some minerals, kidney load, digestive troubles, etc.). The aim of this thesis is to evaluate whether power athletes receive excess, optimum intake or lack of protein according to the current recommendations for sports nutrition. A record sheet for diet intake was used to collect the data. The protein intake of power athletes was calculated in the Nutriservis program and compared with the recommendation according to number of training lessons and the target of the athletes (fat reduction, weight maintenance or muscle growth). The diet of power athletes was also critically evaluated. The results were evaluated by relevant text commentaries and summarized using a graph. The result is that 45% of strength athletes consume excess protein and their intake is higher than 2.0 g protein/kg/day. However, it was also found...
