Substitute Maintenance in the Czech Republic
Navrátilová, Kateřina ; Koldinská, Kristina (advisor) ; Munková, Gabriela (referee)
Substitute Maintenance in the Czech Republic The thesis focuses on substitute maintenance, introduced into the Czech legal system by Act No. 588/2020 Coll., on Advance of Maintenance Payment for Dependent Child and on Amendments to Certain Related Acts (Act on Advance of Maintenance Payment). The thesis aims to analyse this legislation, provide a critical perspective on selected sections, and place substitute maintenance in the broader context of single-parent families and the aid measures provided to them by the state. The first chapter examines the phenomenon of single-parent families and their origins, with particular focus on the gendered aspects of single parenthood. It also addresses the employment opportunities for single parents, their challenging situation in the labour market, and the increased risk of poverty and social exclusion they face in the long term. The second chapter deals with the private law regulation of the maintenance obligation and the right to maintenance, emphasizing the maintenance obligation towards adult and minor children, which the law on substitute maintenance stems from. It interconnects the institutions of private and public law, with the state providing substitute maintenance in case the obliged persons - most frequently parents - fail to fulfil their...
Fathers in Czech families and households with a focus on caring fathers
Paučinová, Anetta ; Šťastná, Anna (advisor) ; Janáková Kuprová, Barbora (referee)
Fathers in Czech families and households with a focus on caring fathers Abstract The male role in the family and household has undergone a long evolution, accompanied by a number of changes in its status, until today, when we are faced with the requirement to exercise active fatherhood. A history of fatherhood is therefore included, highlighting the most important milestones in the development of the father's role - from the time when the only function of the male in the animal kingdom was reproductive, through patriarchal fathers, to the demand for equal involvement of men and women in childcare and the home, which is linked to caring, active or new fatherhood. Alongside this, relevant sociological research is presented that situates this topic within the societal issue of gender equality. Its importance is also discussed in the field of family policy, with the main concern being the equal distribution of unpaid work and the reconciliation of family and working life for both sexes. The family policy instruments that aim to achieve this are thus presented. One of these is parental leave, which was made available to both parents in 2001. Efforts to increase men's involvement in childcare through parental leave were supported in 2019 by a directive of the European Parliament and the Council, which mandated...

Bonková, Petra ; Arnoldová, Anna (advisor) ; Cimrmannová, Tereza (referee)
My diploma work focuses on the issues of single-parent families in the Czech Republic and selected countries of the European Union from the perspective of social policy. I have selected those countries that border the Czech Republic, i.e. Slovakia, Germany, Austria and Poland. In the theoretical part of my diploma work I define family as an institution, its main functions, its historical development and its present changes. Further, I address the problems of single-parent and divorced parents from the psychosocial view, touching also on the subject from the perspective of the church. In conclusion to the theoretical part I address the social policies of individual countries. The practical part involves two pieces of research. The objective of the first piece of research has been to evaluate and compare statistical data from the social environments of the above mentioned countries with that of the Czech Republic. In the second part of research, by means of a questionnaire, I have sought the opinions and views of future family founders with regard to the issues of single-parents families.

Social Aspects of the Life of Single Mothers
ČUŘÍNOVÁ, Martina
The thesis deals with the issue of single parenthood from the perspective of women mothers. The main aim of the thesis was to survey the attitude of lone mothers - mothers of minor children - to the single parenthood. To generally describe the impact, which a termination of a partnership may have on a lone woman a mother raising minor child/children. What living circumstances she has to face and what lifestyle they chose at this stage of their lives. And finally, what forms of help they use. The text is divided into two parts theoretical and practical one. First chapter of the theoretical part deals with the family and its mission, what functions the family should fulfil in relation to its individual members and what could be the results if these functions are disrupted. The chapter is completed with the view of parenthood, which significantly changes the proper functioning of a family. Chapter two describes the crisis in partnership or marriage resulting in single parenthood. Furthermore, various forms related to child care after separation of partners are mentioned as well as potential impacts of the separation on the family. The third chapter discusses the maintenance and potential support, which single mother may receive from the state, surroundings or family. Finally, the chapter assesses the potential of women single mothers on the labour market. For the practical part of the thesis, a questioning technique was chosen and used in semi-structured interviews. The examined group consisted of fifteen women single mothers, aged 25-55, living in the district of Písek, having been at least six months after a divorce/separation and taking care of minor children. Women, who involuntarily become single mothers due to the partner´s death, were not included in the examined group. In connection with the thesis objective, two survey questions were asked: "How do lone women mothers of minor children - deal with single parenthood?" and "What support provided by the family, surroundings or the state do the lone women mothers of minor children use?". The survey has revealed that the majority of communication partners faces difficult financial situation caused by the loss of a second income or generally deteriorated potential on the labour market due to the necessity to combine work and child care without the support of the second partner and in many cases due to the improper fulfilment of maintenance obligations by fathers. Almost half of the communication partners has experienced such a situation, when the obliged parent fails to fulfil his maintenance obligation properly. Among other issues connected with the single parenthood, many communication partners mentioned the feeling of loneliness, lack of the father´s interest in his children, compromises they have to make when choosing a job or activities for their leisure time. The survey has shown that majority of the communication partners spends most of their leisure time by taking care of children or the household. The thesis may be used as a study material for students with social and legal specialization, as an introduction to the issue. In addition, women who experienced divorce/separation may utilize it as one of prospective manuals for the solution to their difficult situation.

Halbichová, Iveta ; Dobiášová, Karolína (advisor) ; Tušková, Eva (referee)
This thesis deals with the position of lone mothers in relation to family policy. It identifies the most serious problems associated with this status. Over the last decade we can see a significant increase in the number of incomplete families, so this group should be given increased attention. The head of the vast majority of lone-parent families are females, so this work is focused on single mothers. These are women living without a partner, who take care of a dependent child on their own. To fulfill the goals of this work we have used secondary data from documents that are related to the observed problem and primary data from qualitative research, which was realized by semi-structured interviews. The main problems associated with the status of single parent are poverty and its related problems of financial nature, as well as single mothers being burdened by high unemployment, which contributes to their difficult position on the labor market. They also face major complications in the harmonization of family and work life. These difficulties are associated with psychological problems which are often overlooked. The above-mentioned difficulties, which are related with the status of single parents, are caused by many factors, which this work deals with in detail. This thesis is also focused on the...
