The process of addiction treatment in the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous
Němcová, Lucie ; Grygar, Jakub (advisor) ; Hájek, Martin (referee)
This thesis concerns an alternative approach to the alcohol-addiction treatment within the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous and highlights the importance of self-help groups in the contemporary society. This worldwide biggest self-help group uses sociologically important processes to achieve a new way of life connected with sobriety. I have studied these processes through the participant observation. Alcoholics Anonymous influences its members through its specific culture which reflects in group rituals, high level of group affiliation, spirituality and co-constructed community story, which bears the member's knowledge. This thesis looks on the transition to identity of the sober alcoholic and the new way of living according to Twelve-Step program of Alcoholics Anonymous through the perspective of drift model of conversion, transition rituals or principles used in the narrative therapy. Within these processes there occurs radical reconstruction of perceptual, cognitive and behavioral schemes which influence the meanings in the interpretation of everyday life and consecutively change the identity of the individual and his social action. These changes of the individual are strengthened by the group members and then gradually spread out of the group boundaries too.
Selfhelping groups in the Czech Republic - analysis of actual state
WASSERBAUEROVÁ, Klára
The Bachelor Thesis is concerning the theme of Self-help groups in the Czech Republic - the analysis of the current situation. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practice unit. The theoretical unit describes the concept of self-helping, history of self-help groups, the characteristics and principles. There are further determined the specification of the target group, the work of the social worker and the description of the importance of the group. There are characterized the self-help groups from the perspective of psychotherapy in the second half of the theoretical unit, especially in the chapter Therapeutic factors of the self-help groups. The practice unit is divided into two research files. The first research file is concerning quantitative strategy in the form of interviews with clients. Based on those interviews there was made SWOT analysis, which was principal for fulfilling the goals of the thesis. The second research group was carried out as quantitative strategy in other words by collecting data using internet sources. The collection of data was necessary to answer research questions. The first research question was: "What kinds of self-help groups are available for individual target groups in the Czech Republic?" The second research question was: "Are there any of self-help groups absent for some of target group clients?" The both research questions were successfully answered due to investigation which also demonstrated what the current situation of self-help groups in the Czech Republic is present. Searching for the information and the data related to research questions resulted in subdividing self-help groups into those which are managed professionally or based on level system, and those that belong under a specific institution or are managed individually. Also from this reason there are the self-help groups in the Czech Republic subdivided according to regions, activities, method of management and competency. The goal of the bachelor thesis is to analyze the availability of self-help groups. This goal was achieved by the performed research. The analysis demonstrated that the availability of the self help groups in the Czech Republic is increasing but the Czech Republic's position is obviously a bit behind the western countries with some work ahead of us to be done in the future.

Stomacare nurses and their share in the work with self-help groups of patiens.
ŠŤASTNÁ, Olga
Stoma nurses and their contribution to work with self-help groups of patients. The diploma thesis dealt with the cooperation of stoma nurses with self-help groups of stoma patients in ten regions of the Czech Republic. The aim was to find out if stoma nurses recognize the importance of self-help groups for stoma patients, how their work contributes to self-help groups, if stoma nurses cooperate with self-help groups and if they inform stoma patients about the existence of self-help groups. Another objective was to determine the level of significance stoma patients give to self-help groups. The goals of the work were met. The theoretical section addresses the issues of self-help groups, the history, benefits, risks, stoma nurses and their education. Cooperation between doctors, stoma nurses and the club of patients is also mentioned. The contexts of a stoma - preoperative and postoperative care, nursing care complications, the stoma aids - are involved in the conclusion of the thesis. In the practical section an investigation through qualitative in-depth interviews with stoma nurses on the base of five research questions was carried out. Do stoma nurses consider self-help groups important in the life of a stoma patient? What information do stoma patients ask for when stoma nurses participate in self help groups? What is the cooperation of stoma nurses with self-help groups in individual regions? Do stoma patients take part in activities within self-help groups? Which age groups of patients, according to stoma nurses´ opinion, prefer to work in self-help groups? On the basis of a qualitative research hypotheses were established for a quantitative investigation. This quantitative research survey through questionnaires was conducted in patients with a stoma, also in ten regions. H1: Stoma nurses recognize the importance of self-help groups for patients with a stoma. H2: Stoma nurses cooperate with self-help groups of stoma patients. H3: Stoma nurses inform stoma patients about self-help groups. H4: The biggest benefit of stoma nurses for stoma patients in self-help groups is giving information about the use of aids. H5: Stoma patients consider self-help groups very important. All hypotheses were confirmed. Stoma nurses as well as stoma patients consider self-help groups very important in their lives. Currently stoma nurses cooperate with self-help groups in all regions, they inform new stoma patients about opportunities to take part in self-help groups and do not forget to give advice about aids and stoma nursing, which is the most valuable information for the stoma patient especially at the beginning of treatment. The results were consistent in both investigations and will be offered to individual stoma nurses for improvement of mutual cooperation. And in the regions where self-help groups do not exist yet or are being established, I firmly believe that the results of this thesis will help in self-help groups activities. The research survey has proved that the stoma nurses´ work is meaningful owing to its results and goals. Stoma nurses have a large share of the self-help groups work.
Work of self-help groups of home nurses for people with Alzheimer´s disease
ŘÍHOVÁ, Jana
The current trend of general mature of population brings the broad range of serious consequences, mainly the increase of incidence and prevalence of diseases, which occur much often by the older people. From the medical and socio-economical point of view, the most serious disease is the aphreina, because the prevalence of this disease by the people older 60 years together with increasing age has the exponential character. The deterioration of the patient` s condition is also a big stress for the family. It is very difficult to accept the fact of the gross degeneration of closed person` s personality and don{\crq}t change the attitude to him. The patient is still physically present, but his mentality has been changed, he lost his personality. ``Is he, but it isn{\crq}t him anymore.{\crqq} The technology of controlled conversation, casuistic and secondary analysis of data has been used for the qualitative research. The controlled conversations was done at Senior hospice Maj. The group was consist of 5 family members of patient, who has the Alzheimer disease, 5 nurses from the department with special regime and 3 social workers. The secondary analysis of data was realized on the basis of statistics, which has been already published at the Grade theses called: ``The problems family nurses caring for the patients with Alzheimer disease.{\crqq} For this analysis, the 15 informants have been used. Within the stated aim {--} to chart the activities of self-helping groups - I have used the data published at Annual report of Czech Alzheimer` s company from 2005. I have also made uncontrolled conversation with coordinator of self-helping group at Ceske Budejovice. The results of the research showed that the biggest problem with the devotion about the patient is the psychical stress. The rest, relaxation, fun, etc. could help to feel better. If these principals are followed, the most of the problems will never occur. The help of further people is necessary to fulfill these points. The research refer to problem of nonavailability of self-helping groups, family nurses caring for the patients with Alzheimer disease within the specific region of Czech Republic and also refer to low awareness about their existence and their activities. I hope that my thesis help to home-nurses to predate the problems, which have been mentioned here {mainly the mental ones}, and also helps to existing self-helping groups.
