Architecture of Prague's Financional Institutions in the European Context

The diploma thesis deals with architecture of financial institutions in Prague - banks, savings banks and insurance companies - from the middle of the 19th century (when the first representative headquarters of financial institution in Prague was built) to 1939. The research of the thesis is focused on territory of Prague New Town, which is included in town area of Prague 1, where the highest concentration of these financial buildings was in whole research period. The diploma thesis will register and interpret individual headquarters of financial institution in Prague in historical, economic and political context within the Czech lands and the Habsburg monarchy, then also within the Czechoslovak Republic; and in the context of urban and wider architectural development in Prague and Europe too. Czech postmodern architecture of banking houses and savings after 1989 until the end of the 20.century

This study deals with teh architecture of banks and savings banks in the nineties of the twentieth century in the Czech Republic as a certain phenomenon associated with cultural change and social situation in the Czech architectural scene since 1989. The need for new bank buildings brought into our urban and small-town environment specific architectural forms associated with the influence of lingering postmodernism. The first part attempts to characterize the general change on the Czech architectural scene in the nineties and to elucidate these stylish yet unidentified, often individually artistically conceived structure of bank buildings as a part of it. At the same time take into account the question of to what extent we can speak about postmodern architecture in the Czech culture environment and points out the ethical problem related to this architecture style. The second part tries to characterize the general architecture and typologically distinguish of banks and savings banks in the accompanying catalog. Finally, the work attempts to explain why the phenomenon of architecture of banks and savings is associated with the ethical problem, which reffers to such buildings as the representative of architectural bad taste.

The Spanish Financial System

In the first chapter of my thesis titled "The Spanish Financial System", I introduce a concept of a financial system in general and a historical development of the Spanish financial system including legislation from the beginning of the 20th century till today. The second part describes a current structure of the Spanish financial system and component entities operating within its framework structured from a point of supervising institutions. The last and crucial chapter is focused on reforms of the Spanish banking sector which have got no parallel in a modern history of the country. Restructuring and consolidation of the banking sector have been primarily carried out by mergers of traditional savings banks which became vulnerable during a period of an international liquidity crisis and an excessive exposure to the construction industry and real estate developments. I explain reasons for reforms, their starting points, progresses and difficulties during the restructuring processes. In conclusion I assess their results and impacts not only on credit institutions but the whole society as well.

Building savings

Bachelor theis provides a comprehensive overview of the basic characteristics of the building savings product. The second part of this work is focused on the Czech building society market which is characterized by a big amount of sources. The biggest emphasis is put on source problems and the related stability of building societies. The work also provides a summary of a current offer of Czech building socities products and various model situations focusing on the factors affecting revenue.

Present and Future of Building Savings in the Czech Republic

This thesis deals with the Building Savings in the Czech Republic. It contains a brief overview of the history of Building Savings, explaining the basic concepts and the legislative framework for Building Savings. It analyzes and compares individual building societies and their main products. It examines the publics interest of Building Savings and explores its advantages and disadvantages. The aim of the thesis is to determine what effects will have the latest Amendment to the Act on Building Savings in the future in comparison to past and current developments in Building Savings on the Czech market.

Comparison of credit policy of Czech building societies

V diplomové práci jsem srovnával úvěrové politiky stavebních spořitelen v České republice v současnosti. První kapitola je zaměřena na vývoj stavebního spoření v České republice a je zde uvedeno jaké stavební spořitelny jsou na českém trhu a jakým zákonem je stavební spoření u nás ošetřeno a kdy stavební spoření jako takové vzniklo. Druhá a nejobsáhlejší kapitola je věnována úvěrovým politikám jednotlivých stavebních spořitelen. Je popsáno jaké podmínky musí být splněny, aby klient získal úvěr ze stavebního spoření a také co musí být splněno pro získání překlenovacího úvěru. Srovnal jsem také v této kapitole poplatky, úrokové sazby a potřebné zajištění u jednotlivých stavebních spořitelen. V poslední kapitole jsem se zaměřil na budoucí vývoj stavebních spořitelen, jaké jsou jejich silné stránky a jaká by mohla být pro ně ohrožení.
