Sledování posturálních a respiračních funkcí u pacientů se skoliózou
PEVNÁ, Veronika
The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts, namely the theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis deals with a description of the kinesiology of the spine, defining the term scoliosis and classification of scoliosis, focuses on respiratory function, deep stabilization system, and its connection with respiratory and postural functions. At the end of the theoretical part, respiratory physiotherapy and its individual methods are described, which are widely used in patients with scoliosis. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to describe the treatment options for patients with scoliosis, which was fulfilled in the theoretical part of the bachelor thesis, and in the form of case studies to describe therapeutic procedures affecting postural and respiratory functions in specific patients. The practical part of the bachelor´s thesis is conducted in the form of qualitative research, because the research sample consists of three adult patients who were diagnosed with the scoliosis. The sub-targets are verified through individual therapies lasting between two and three months, during which postural and respiratory functions in specific patients are monitored. The results of the survey are recorded in a brief evaluation of the effectiveness of the therapy. The bachelor thesis can be used by physiotherapists as an inspiration for therapeutic procedures in individual patients, or it can serve as educational material for the general public, who would like to learn more about the topic of scoliosis or methods used in the treatment of scoliosis.
Effect of sitting posture on different seats on respiratory function while using a smartphone
Janíčková, Michaela ; Heller, Jan (advisor) ; Hráský, Pavel (referee)
1 Abstract Title: Effect of sitting posture on different seats on respiratory function while using a smartphone Objectives: The purpose of this thesis is to investigate respiratory function in sitting posture while using a smartphone. Another objective is to compare the values of monitored parametres and to determine which of the 3 performed experiments exhibite the greatest decreases in respiratory parametres. The last aim is to confirm the difference between female and male values and to show that men have higher values of monitored respiratory parameters and the greater decrease of respiratory function than women. Methods: 20 healthy young volunteers were recruited (10 women, 10 men). The experiment was carried out on three different types of seats - office chair, armchair and gymball. Participants spent time using a smartphone for one hour. To investigate changes in respiratory function, we measured FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC a PEF before and after each experiment was completed. Values were processed in MS Excel. Pair t-test and Wilcoxon test were used to evaluate the effect of sitting posture on respiratory function (p < 0,05) A two-sample t-test was used to determine a statistically significant difference in values in men and women, as well as in decrease of respiratory function in men and women. (p < 0,05)....
Observation of postural and respiratory functions in adult patients with cystc fibrosis
Yaghi, Ammar ; Smolíková, Libuše (advisor) ; Fila, Libor (referee)
Thesis objective: This thesis focuses on postural and respiratory functions in adult patients with cystic fibrosis. Furthermore, it studies observations of common features in body posture. Finally, this thesis tries to evaluate life quality of patients with cystic fibrosis despite the fact of small experimental sample group used. Methods: between the years 2013 and 2014, 10 adult patients with cystic fibrosis diagnosis who were hospitalized at the department of tuberculosis and respiratory diseases at Motol hospital were examined. All examined patients belonged to the age category 18 to 30 years old. Methods used in examining the patients included spirometry, spine dynamic test, posture assesment software and at the end of all examinations a standardized questionnaire was given to all patients to evaluate the life quality of patients with CF (questionnaire of cystic fibrosis). Results: a common manifestation was the barrel-shaped thorax that increases its size in the anteroposterior direction, which causes thoracic kyphosis, shoulder protraction, stiffness of the ribcage and hyperlordosis of the lumbar spine. Conclusion: Patients with cystic fibrosis are to be found in all ranges of pulmonary functions. The most common complaint is the cough that distinctly affects their life quality (sleep...
Spirometric Parameters of Students Depending on Their Physical Activity
Nedbalová, Jana ; Ehler, Edvard (advisor) ; Přívratský, Vladimír (referee)
The present work aims to answer questions regarding lung function among students of two types of grammar schools and describe selected indicators of differences between different groups of students within a reference population. The starting point for this work was speculation that the obligations defined by seconadary education in the ordinary type of school may significantly affect the students of the same age group and same Framework educational program for intensive regime of movement, breathing function. Is it possible that the secondary school educational program could affect the degree of respiratory function of students, for example by having less time and not having time for regular exercise? Are students of common type of grammar school physically less active than their peers from sports-oriented type of school? What are lung volumes of today's teens and how much do they differ from the current standards? The selection of respondents was elected from the students of sport-oriented grammar school and the common type of secondary school students. A total of 196 students participated in the study. Students were measured by spirometry lung capacity and function through painstaking cast in relation to strenuous breath. I have found that ordinary secondary school students have a positive...
Monitoring of the Respiratory Functions in Patients after the Rib Cage Surgery according to Nuss
Svobodová, Jana ; Bitnar, Petr (advisor) ; Smolíková, Libuše (referee)
Objective: The goal of the thesis "Monitoring of the Respiratory Functions in patients after the Rib Cage Surgery according to Nuss" was to confront the present knowledge about respiratory functions and the strength of respiratory muscles of patients with inherited pectoral deformity pectus excavatum, to compare it with my own measuring and to find out about their development after the surgical correction according to Nuss. Methodology: There were 15 patients being monitored (13 men and 3 women), who underwent spirometric and bodypletysmographic examination and the occlusal mouth pressures were determined before the surgery. The same pulmonary function tests were run in the course of 4 to 10 months (7.1 months on average) on all the patients, the control determination of mouth pressures is available for 13 of them. Results: In the entry tests, compared to adequate values the patients in this file had increased residual lung capacities (RV 142%, p=0.001; ITGV 116.2%, p=0.004; RV%TLC 133.8%, p=0.002; ITGV% 116.1%, p=0.001) at the expense of statistically lower vital lung capacity (VC 81.9%, p=0.0004) and inspiratory reserve capacity (IC 84.2%, p=0.0003), while the total lung capacity remained unaltered (TLC 99.7%, p=0.877). The obstructive parameters of these patients were significantly altered (FEV1 95.7%,...
