Religious conflicts in Europe - the model example of Judaism

This bachelor thesis is a thorough analysis of European religious conflicts over the last fifty years. It focuses on the study of their dynamics, causes and consequences. It also explores the significant relationship between the religious conflicts associated with Judaism in Europe and the political and religious situation in Israel and the surrounding states. It analyses how these conflicts affect the dynamics of political and religious relations between Europe and the Middle East. It pays particular attention to the role that the growing Muslim population in Europe plays in anti-Semitic religious conflicts and the implications of these developments for regional stability. Last but not least, the paper analyses the localization of conflicts in Europe, with an emphasis on Western Europe. It determines whether there is a greater concentration of religious conflicts associated with Judaism in this part and what factors influence this situation. Religious topics in teaching of Basics of Civics and Social Sciences as a part of Framework Education Programme for Secondary General Education (Grammar Schools)

This thesis deals with the topic of teaching religious topics at secondary schools according to Framework Education Programme for Secondary General Education. Also, the aspect of education towards tolerance and preventing religious xenophobia in multicultural society is involved. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part is focused on the theoretical background and includes interpretation of formal documents that the teacher must take into consideration when teaching this topic, (such as textbooks, national curricular documents and recommendations). The approach in other countries is mentioned as well. The theoretical part involves a minimal amount of knowledge that the teacher should know and be able to implement while teaching the topic this work is focused on. The second part contains a qualitative research concentrating on finding students' preconceptions towards the topic of the thesis. The research method was a profound dialogue with five students of secondary schools. The students were of different age, sex, religious opinion, nationality and socio- economical background. The data were analysed regarding the areas of knowledge, abilities and opinions. Philosophy inspiration in selected works by Ladislav Fuks

The aim of this diploma theses is to find philosophical, religious and ideological motifs in the work of Ladislav Fuks and subsequently interpret their origin, intertextuality and meaning in the text. The emphasis is put on proving the semantic functionality in the story. For our research, we have selected following works: Mr. Theodore Mundstock, The Cremator, and Addressing from the Darkness. We will study philosophical and theological literature, as well as materials from the archives and from the estate of Ladislav Fuks in order to base all the findings on the biographical author, too. The thesis is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter we deal with basic literary characteristics of the selected books and their literary reception. The second chapter discusses Ladislav Fuks' relationship to philosophy, being anchored in both his friends' testimonies and the archival research of his estate. The third chapter is the most important and the most comprehensive one since it deals with the interpretation of philosophical motifs in each of the selected books. In the fourth chapter we compare individual philosophical motifs from different works with each other. We summarize the findings at the end of the theses.
Coexistence of the Majority Society and Muslims in Teplice

This bachelor thesis entitled Coexistence of the majority society and Muslims in Teplice deals with issue of coexistence the citizens of Šanov district in Teplice. The largest Muslim community in Northern Bohemia is in Teplice and every year durring summer a high number of Muslims arrives in Teplice to spa. Muslims go primarily to the spa in the Šanov district and lived there for several months. Muslims concentrate mainly in park and spa situated in Šanov district. The citizens of Teplice reacted negatively to the growing number of Muslims and they complained of mess and noise. The first part of this thesis analyses theoretical concepts such as integration of immigrants and Muslims in the Czech Republic, new xenophobia, attitudes of the majority society to Muslims, the concept of the "us" and "them", contact hypothesis and describes the life of Muslims in Teplice. The second part of the thesis deals with the methodology of research and selection of the informants and, above all, with the analysis of the interviews. Using semi-structured qualitative interviews, this thesis explores attitudes of the majority society living in the Šanov district to Muslims and problems and positive of this coexistence. Veiling of Czech women converting to Islam

This thesis deals with veiling of Czech women who convert to Islam, those who were born here, were brought up here and have a full Czech sociocultural background. The thesis focuses on the reasons for veiling in the Czech milieu, the real possibility of veiling in the Czech Republic, the emotional side of those women and the change in their visual appearance itself. It also discusses the changes in the acceptance of conversion to Islam in informants' families after they began to veil themselves. The thesis focuses on problems of the employment and the possibility of veiling being contraproductive in the western society. The whole thesis is based on a qualitative research and supported by the personal testimonies and life stories of eleven key informants and testimonies of secondary respondents. Their statements have been linked with theories that deals with veiling and clothing from different scientific perspectives and are compared with studies among female converts in other European countries, USA and Canada. The issue of religion geography in teaching geography at the second grade of Primary School

The thesis deals with teaching of the geography of religion in geography lessons at the 2 nd stage elementary school. The main objective of the thesis is to create design of own teaching material focusing on the geography of religion. The first part deals with the characteristics of selected religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam), the inclusion of religion in the context of geography and geography in elementary school curriculum and teaching methods. Another part is an evaluation of the geography textbooks with the current clause, the Ministry of Education for a given topic. The last part of the thesis contains own draft training material focused on the geography of religion produced in two versions version for teachers and version for pupils.
