Tourist cards and their use in contemporary tourism
VÁCLAVÍČKOVÁ, Klára
This study focuses on proposing a concept for a tourist card in the České Budějovice region and its surroundings. To achieve this goal, a benchmarking comparison of existing tourist cards in three selected locations is conducted, with unified criteria established for evaluation. Primary and secondary research provide the basis for analyzing and presenting the benchmarking results. Simultaneously, a monitoring process maps potential entities and stakeholders in the South Bohemian region to identify key stakeholders for future tourist card implementation. Product marketing management is further included in the study, encompassing the creation and distribution of the tourist card in the region. This study provides a comprehensive view of tourists' needs in the area and contributes to the development of the tourism industry through an effective product.
The Effect of Cultural and Natural Heritage on Tourism Attractiveness in Slovakia
Kling, Alexander ; Šťastná, Lenka (advisor) ; Kantová, Klára (referee)
The Effect of Cultural and Natural Heritage on Tourism Attractiveness in Slovakia Abstract This thesis questions a traditional understanding of cultural and natural heritage as two of the main determinants of tourism attractiveness. The motivation to write it was that in Slovakia, there are multiple locations with plentiful natural and cultural monuments, but since some of them are popu- lar tourist destinations, the others are relatively unknown from the tourism perspective. Based on the review of the existing academic literature, the au- thor understands the concept of attractiveness as a phenomenon composed of the attributes of a certain attraction or location and tourists' perception of the destinations. Therefore, the models connect both aspects of the tourism system - supply and demand for tourism. The dependent variable repre- senting demand is the number of visitors in accommodation establishments per district in 2018 or this value per capita. The main independent vari- ables are the number of national cultural monuments and national natural monuments and reserves, the variables typical for a tourism product. De- spite the estimates of their effects seem to be clearly positive and significant, especially for nature, before including additional explanatory variables and their logarithmic...
Determinants of Residential Property Prices in Russian Federation
Burešová, Kristina ; Kalabiška, Roman (advisor) ; Hlaváček, Michal (referee)
The thesis investigates the determinants of apartment prices in Russia. We examined the relationships between quarterly apartment prices in the primary and secondary markets and a wide range of explanatory variables using a het- erogeneous panel of 73 regions from 2005 Q1 to 2019 Q4. Because the variables were co-integrated, the long-run relationships were estimated using a panel dynamic OLS. The short-run dynamic was captured by the error correction model. Wages and construction costs were found to be the core determinants of apartment prices in both the primary and secondary markets. Construc- tion costs were dominant in the primary market and wages in the secondary market. Unemployment, age structure, migration, exchange rate index, and existing apartment area per capita were identified as additional price determi- nants. Negative error correction terms implied that, following a market shock, apartment prices would revert to their long-run equilibria. The sample was then divided into subsets containing wealthy and poor regions to test for ro- bustness. The regression results suggested di erent dynamics in the wealthy regions, but otherwise confirmed the results' robustness. Finally, subperiods were subjected to indicative analysis. However, no significant changes were observed following the 2008...
Macroeconomic Determinants of Crime: Evidence from Scandinavia
Hocková, Michaela ; Kalabiška, Roman (advisor) ; Cahlík, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis examines how various macroeconomic and demographic indicators infuence criminality in Scandinavian countries, taking into account existing literature on the determinants of crime in other regions. Using a combination of the vector error correction model and basic panel data techniques, several important fndings are extrapolated both on cross-country and regional levels. Unemployment, infation and divorces infuence the number of homicides and sexual crimes positively but property ofences negatively. Criminality in Scan- dinavia is also negatively related to average age and positively to population density. The importance of individual analyses for diferent global regions and crime types before the implementation of crime reduction policies is highlighted. Analysis of the regional development of mortality in NUTS 3 regions in Czechia and Sweden during 1997-2011
Trajer, Jiří ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee)
Analysis of the regional development of mortality in NUTS 3 regions in Czechia and Sweden during 1997-2011 Abstract The aim of this thesis is to analyze and describe the development of regional mortality in Czechia and Sweden from 1997 to 2011. Besides of total mortality of both countries and their regions we will focus on the development of regional mortality and regional differentiation of mortality from five most common causes of death for both sexes. These five groups include diseases of circulatory, respiratory and digestive system and neoplasms with external causes of morbidity and mortality. As a basic indicator from selected causes of death is used age-standardized mortality rate and in case of total mortality is also used life expectancy. In both countries the raise of life expectancy and decline of standardized mortality rates were observed during the monitored period. The decline of standardized mortality rates were observed in both countries for almost all causes of death with one exception. The exception was rise of the mortality from respiratory system diseases in Czechia. Keywords: mortality, regional analysis, causes of death, Czechia, Sweden, regional inequalities
Housing Prices in the Czech Republic and Slovakia: Regional Comparison
Cempírek, Petr ; Hlaváček, Michal (advisor) ; Žigraiová, Diana (referee)
The objective of the present Bachelor's thesis is to compare the behavior of housing prices in the Czech Republic and Slovakia using econometric analysis. First, the author presents the historical context and basic housing indicators. After verifying that variables in dataset are cointegrated, a panel DOLS es- timator for modelling housing prices is employed. The author uses quarterly regional data in order to analyze the response of basic housing price fundamen- tals in the two countries that formed one federation until 1992. By forming a short run equation with an error-correction term the author checks for the existence of long run housing price equilibrium and for the speed of price rever- sion to equilibrium in case it is misaligned. The author then focuses on housing price misalignments as well as their dynamics in the individual regions.
Determinants of divorce: Evidence from the Czech Republic
Kolářová, Natálie ; Votápková, Jana (advisor) ; Vávra, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis examines the determinants of divorce in the Czech Republic. Based on data on regional statistics that are publicly available by the Czech Statistical Office, it aims at explaining the variation in the crude divorce rate among the Czech districts and identifying its most important determinants. The main contribution of the present thesis is an econometric analysis of the latest panel data. A panel data of 77 cross-sectional units (districts) observed between 2004-2018 are analysed using a fixed effects panel data model. The results of the macroeconomic analysis reveal that the crude divorce rate is higher in districts with relatively more marriages, abortions and job applicants. Likewise, higher natural population increase and criminality cause a higher divorce rate. On the contrary, relatively more physicians and lower education level decrease the divorce rate. However, the majority of variation explained by the model has roots in unobserved factors - individual and time effects. Surprisingly, Prague is not recognised as an outlier since the results appear comparable for both its inclusion and exclusion. Regional comparative analysis of mortality from selected diseases in Czechia and Sweden during the period 2001-2015
Lenz, Patrik ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Velková, Alice (referee)
Regional comparative analysis of mortality from selected diseases in Czechia and Sweden during the period 2001-2015 Abstract The aim of this thesis is analysis of the regional population mortality development due to two the most frequent groups causes of death related to the both sexes in Czechia and Sweden during the period 2001-2015. Standardized mortality rate is used for the assessment of mortality development in the monitored period. Two the most frequent causes of death for both sexes during the period 2001-2015 in Czechia and Sweden were cardiovascular diseases and neoplasms, which represented over half majority of all death causes. There was a significant mortality rate decline in case of both sexes in Czechia compared to Sweden in the reviewed period, however the standardized mortality rates were lower in the whole monitored period in Sweden. The most significant mortality rates decrease for both sexes in Czechia and Sweden was reported in case of cardiovascular diseases. Larger interregional mortality differences due to malignant neoplasms and cardiovascular diseases were registered in Czechia. In both countries, regional mortality differentiation due to cardiovascular diseases was higher in case of males in contrast to mortality caused by malignant neoplasms which was higher for females. Development of regional variations in suicide mortality in the Czech Republic in the period 1994-2013
Vondrášek, Martin ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (referee)
Development of regional variations in suicide mortality in the Czech Republic in the period 1994-2013 Abstract The purpose of this bachelor thesis was to identify the development of regional variations in suicide mortality in the Czech Republic in the period 1994-2013. In view of the fact that the level of suicide mortality is different between genders, was the analysis carried out individually for each sex. The level of suicide mortality was researched through age-standardized suicide mortality rates, index of masculinity of suicides and rate of selfmurderers who chose hanging, strangulation or asphyxiation. These indicators enabled a regional comparison, which total results indicate the decrease of the age-standardized suicide mortality in the Czech Republic against the level in the second half of the nineties. However, it increased in some particular regions. Keywords: Czech Republic, mortality, suicides, suicide methods, suicidial tendence, regional analysis
Analysis effectiveness of ESF subsidy means and its influence on unemployment rate in Usti Region in 2007-2015
Cruz, Vladimír ; Strejček, Ivo (advisor) ; Barák, Vladimír (referee)
The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate effectiveness of ESF subsidy means and its influence on unemployment rate in Usti Region in 2007-2015. Often unconvincing results of project activities that were subsidized from ESF means, which are meant to be used to lower unemployment, give rise to negative criticism and the opinion that these projects and thereby the subsidies are inefficient. The main hypothesis of this bachelor thesis is that subsidies from European Social Fund to lower unemployment in Usti Region are not used efficiently considering the difference between planned and real output. Research results in this thesis support this hypothesis, because the efficiency could be provably higher. The theoretical part is focused on defining of basic terms that are related to this topic including terminology of subsidies, funds, unemployment, labor market and public choice. The practical part consists of analysis of unemployment rate in Usti Region in 2007-2015, which is compared to situation in the Czech Republic and European Union and of analysis of efficiency of projects subsidized from ESF regarding labor market.
