Jelínková, Barbora ; Hrabec,, Josef (referee) ; Vojtová, Lea (advisor) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
Bachelor’s thesis deals with reconstruction and re-use of listed buildings of St. Thomas Yard in Brno. Good transport connectivity, pleasant surroundings and proximity of several academic buildings have predetermined this area for a new purpose instead of the inappropriate current one – in the future, leisure time centre offering hobby groups, sport activities, study rooms, gallery, café and parking-site should be sited here. Urban concept consists of building block with a park compound. There are three listed buildings with decorated frontals to be preserved, complemented by brand new lightweight low-profile structures. Modern objects situated next to the historical ones are designed to be transparent by means of suspended glassed-in exterior with distinctive sun shading elements on the south facade. Other buildings are specific for their single-pitch vegetative roofs emphasizing peaceful nature of the park.

Opätovné obnovenie, opätovné uloženie a opätovné generovanie.
I deal with the issue of reducing waste production by the form of reusing used products in my thesis. I describe regulations and some other waste prevention tools. I cite different principles for the functioning of pre-existing reuse centres as examples of good practice in the literary review. I have established a working procedure for monitoring used products in the collection yard. I described the environment in which the survey was conducted. Criteria have been formulated for receiving used items and a list of accepted used products into the system, limited by legislation. I discovered whether it made sense to build for the municipality of Kojetín (inhabitans 6103 to 1. 1. 2019) re-use centre by doing research in 2019. A workable design for a reuse centre at the Kojetín collection yard was chosen as the output of the thesis.
Specifics of building design from recycled building materials
Dobrovolný, Petr ; Pifko, Henrich (referee) ; Innemanová,, Petra (referee) ; Žabičková, Ivana (advisor)
Nowadays, the developed societies increasingly adhere to the ideas of sustainability, which also include the issues of raw material intensity and waste management. EU countries declare their intention to move towards so-called circular economy, where production, consumption, waste management and the market of secondary raw materials function in predominantly closed cycles. Due to its high share of raw material consumption and the amount of waste generated, the construction industry is one of the priority sectors in which these changes should take place. Consequently, the interest in recycling of construction and demolition waste will probably grow. This thesis examines the chosen topic from the architect's point of view. The issue of recycling of building materials is dealt with in the context of contemporary construction industry. The introductory part describes main material flows: the most used building materials, the method of waste management and the possibilities of its further use. The relationships between the design of the building and the production of construction waste are defined. The issue of building with recycled building materials is handled in more detail. In the main part, the design of a model object made of recycled building materials is elaborated. The individual building structures are analyzed in terms of the suitability of the use of recycled building materials and waste management after the end of a lifecycle of the building and a comparison is made with alternative structures made of conventional building materials. At the end of the work, an evaluation of the usability of recycled building materials in building structures and their economic potential is performed. There is also an evaluation of the specifics of working with recycled building materials in the design of the building.
Pre-loved: vintage shops as an alternative to fast fashion
Borisova, Varvara ; Abu Ghosh, Yasar (advisor) ; Sosna, Daniel (referee)
"Pre-loved: vintage shops as an alternative to fast fashion" Mgr. Varvara Borisova Supervisor: Mgr. Yasar Abu Ghosh, Ph.D. Abstract Thrifting has long been perceived as a matter of nonconformists, eccentric artists, and people with limited budgets. However, the consumerist philosophy of so-called fast fashion which is driven by the ever-changing trends and the impact of the fashion industry on environment and global labor market has become a reason for many customers to find a greener and more ethical way to supply their wardrobes. While some of us gave up shopping at all, fashion gurus turned their attention to secondhand clothes: thrift shops changed to vintage boutiques and used garments became known as "pre-loved". This thesis aims to analyze practices which owners of Czech secondhand and vintage shops use to create value, understand the obsession by things from the 20th century and focus on the role of such stores in the development of sustainable fashion in the Czech Republic. Key words: vintage, thrift, theory of value, fast fashion, nostalgia, sustainability, material culture
Priestor pre kreativitu: Využitie prázdnych priestorov pre kreatívny priemysel
Leitmannová, Andrea
The empty, in other words unused or abandoned spaces with built infrastructure, create a constant and inevitable part of the urban development processes. They are the results of the political, social, cultural or economic changes in the society or are related to the changes in industry or production. The paper shows the current result of a research project aimed to identifying the potential of empty spaces in selected localities in Bratislava and their possible re-use by the creative industry thus generating creative clusters. Based on the analyses of existing creative clusters in other European cities, it illustrates the possibilities of access to their realization within unused spaces or areas with originally different function.
