Protein calculator
Sedlo, Petr ; Maděránková, Denisa (referee) ; Škutková, Helena (advisor)
This work is focussed on studying and analysis of protein qualities while using experimental methods which are next confronted with numerical analysis, which have been introduced by the expansion in computer engineering. Within that task I built up a program for calculation of isoelectric point and molecular mass of an entered chain of amino acids. The program will draw a graph of pH dependance of molecular charge in the wide range of pH values in accordance with the given criteria. We can gain results very quickly and easily in this way, however, these results are just a rough estimate. We´re assumed to be aware of this fact because incorrect use of that program where exact analysis is required would cause errors.
Development of workflow for quality control of mass spectrometry data in KNIME environment
Schneiderová, Anna ; Zezula, Nikodém (referee) ; Potěšil,, David (advisor)
Proteomic experiment using liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry is a complex technique with multiple variables that can affect the quality of output data. Data quality control and instrument status monitoring are therefore essential for high quality data acquisition. Designed workflow, implemented within the KNIME environment, allows systematic and automatic data quality control. The workflow allows to obtain and record selected quality control metrics which could be used to ascertain data variability and prevent technical problems.

Proteomics of barley proteins by combination of in-gel digestion and MALDI-TOF MS
Řehulka, Pavel ; Chmelík, Josef ; Mayrhofer, C. ; Allmaier, G.
It is shown that combination of gel electrophoresis, matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry and database searching is a suitable procedure for rapid protein identification. This approach let us to identify some proteins from barley leaves and grains. Identification of barley proteins can be useful for characterization of varieties of malting barley which is important especially in food and brewing industry.
