Energy Security of the EU and its progress during the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU

This thesis deals with the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2009 in terms of energy and energy security. In the introductory theoretical part the notion of "energy security" is defined and the chapter analyzes energy in the EU primary law too, including jurisdiction of the issue to a particular Union's institutions. In the practical part of the thesis the priorities of the EU in energy and energy security are described and steps that CZ PRES made to increase EU energy security are analyzed. Particular emphasis is placed on the gas crisis and the general supply of gas, which played during the Czech Presidency a significant role. Final chapters focus on the shift in the EU's energy security during the forthcoming Swedish and the Spanish Presidency.
Citizens about the Presidency to the European Union

In January survey the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on topic of the presidency of the European Union. The Czech Republic has assumed the presidency of the EU on 1 January 2009. The respondents were asked if they are interested in this topic or if they have a lot of informations about the presidency. The survey also investigated citizens’ evaluation of the Czech Republic’s preparations for the presidency.
The Czech Republic in the European Union: Priorities of the Czech Presidency

The thesis deals with the position of the Czech Republic in the European Union in the context of the priorities of the Czech presidency. Czech Republic chaired the EU in the first half of 2009. Before starting the Czech Presidency, the Czech Republic chose its main priorities as the 3E's -- Economy, Energy and the European Union in the world, in which all the efforts were aimed. First chapter focuses on the solution of the global economic crisis in the EU and in the Czech Republic and also on the current economic situation in selected EU countries. Second chapter is dedicated to the gas crisis that hit Europe in early 2009 and to the way how the European countries dealt with it. The latest changes in the EU energy policy are also described. The final part deals mainly with the Lisbon Treaty and its impact on the position of the EU on the international scene.
Evaluation of the Presidency of the Czech Rebublic in the European Union and Its Impacts on Tourism

The diploma thesis deals with the presidency of the Czech Republic in the European Union which was in progress during the first half of 2009. Two main goals of the thesis were, first, to describe the presidency in context of congress tourism and, second, to analyze the impacts of the presidency on tourism in the Czech Republic. In the thesis there is described the mechanism of the organization of the presidency in detail, i.e. how were organized the conferences and congresses of the EU taking place in the Czech Republic during the presidency. Then, there is an analysis of both short-run and long-run impacts of the presidency on tourism and congress tourism in the Czech Republic. The thesis is theoretically based on characteristics of tourism, congress tourism, Council of the EU and the presidency in the Council.
The selected priorities of the French Presidency

The aim of the bachelor thesis is the last French Presidency of the Council of the European Union. During this presidency France inteded to lay the basis of a Common European Immigration Policy - to adopt the European Pact on Immigration and Asylum and the Blue Card. The first part is dedicated to the French immigration policy development and to its last revision in 2006. The main part focuses on the development of the European Pact on Immigration and Asylum and the Blue Card proposal and their future contribution to the EU. In the end the evaluation of the French Presidency is presented.
The development of the role of the presidency of EC/EU on the example of France

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the role and functions of the presidency and to demonstrate the development of its importance and competence on the example of France in the context of its twelve presidencies. The thesis is composed of the theoretical part describing the functions of the presidency and then an example of France and its presidencies from 1959 to 2008 is given to trace up the basic priorities of France in the process of development of European integration.
Economic development of Sweden

In my bachelor thesis I focus on economic development of Sweden, mainly from 1990s to the present time. I concentrate on particular sectors of economy, macroeconomic indicators and automotive industry as well as Volvo Group in detail. Furthermore I deal with the position of Sweden within the EU, its integration process and Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2001. I also concern with the upcoming presidency in the second half of 2009 and attitude of Sweden towards the common European currency is analysed.

The presidency of the Council of the European Union is a prestigious institute, who applies administrative, representative and political functions. This thesis should define the Council and its presidency and propose some theoretical hypothesis about the presidency of large and middle-sized countries. The practical comparison use as an example France and Czech republic. These two countries have ensured their presidencies successively recently. The main goal is to point out the measure of influence of political systems, duration of the membership, roles of personalities and above all size of the country.
Management activities of European union in the period of Czech presidency

The aim of this work is an analysis and evaluation of existing process of the Czech presidency in Council of the European Union. It focuses on assessment of Czech priorities within the frame of semi-annual programme. The work is divided into 3 primary parts. First part of the work maps out historical development in institute of presidency. Second part relates to duties of presidency and the third part deals with representation of 3 priorities, so called: 3E it's analysis and description. Significant part undertakes an evaluation of selected priorities and capability of the Czech Government to flexibly response to the actual problems. At the close of the work is being outlined scheme of conclusion of the Czech presidency which is updated in perspective on the Swedish presidency.
Objectives of presidencies of the Council of the EU

Each presidency presents its program of priorities before the beginning. In connection with the formulation of the priorities we can follow three different lines influencing the whole process: affairs within EU, affairs out of EU and last but not least the national priorities of individual member states. The target of this thesis is to present a general overview of EU presidencies in the period 2000-2008 and to demonstrate, that formulated priorities do not appear in the agendas of presidencies randomly, but reflect certain continuity in development of the integration process.
