Mathematics textbooks for secondary schools from the point of view of beginning teachers.

This master thesis deals with mathematics textbooks designed for the lower-secondary school. The aim of the work was to find out which mathematics textbooks are the mostly used by teachers in elementary schools in České Budějovice, how and to what extent teachers use textbooks and how do they evaluate them. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part defines the concept of a textbook, its function, structure, the issue of selection of a textbook and the results of research related to how teachers use textbooks. The practical part is based on a questionnaire survey carried out between teachers of mathematics at the lower-secondary school in Ceske Budejovice. At first, work procedure and the research method are described and then the results of the research are provided. Based on research, the most used textbooks for the sixth grade of elementary school are compared between themselves from the perspective of a novice teacher. The conclusion of the practical part of my diploma project is devoted to comparing the topic of axial symmetry in the selected textbooks that were chosen by the teachers in the questionnaire included in this thesis.
The issue of punctuation in the teaching practice at the second grade of primary school

The aim of the Bachelor thesis is to map the topic of punctuation within the lower secondary school educational practice. Theoretical part of the thesis consists of the description of punctuation issue dealt in the four specific Czech language textbook series intended for various school grades. The textbook series are mutually compared in relation to the way of explanation of the given issue and the variety, consistency and appropriateness of used exercises. Practical part of the thesis targets to create an exercise sheet consisting of the issue explanation and various creative exercises and tasks to practice punctuation.
Analysis of the Topic of Prokaryotes Presented in Biology Textbooks for Lower-Secondary Schools

Textbooks as material teaching aids perform countless functions, represent the content of education of the specific subject, contain transformed scientific findings or fundamentally affect motivation of pupils to learn. A part of the basic curriculum of natural sciences are also prokaryotes, whose issues have not yet been mapped in textbooks. The main objective of the thesis was to perform the content analysis of the prokaryotic topic in natural sciences textbooks for primary schools with a valid clause of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. In the thesis the structuring of the given topic was ascertained among the individual titles. The terms contained in chapters dealing with the topic of prokaryotic organisms were analyzed. Two approaches were used for the analysis, the method bearing the open coding label was used for the qualitative data analysis, the quantitative approach reflects the percentage of terms falling into the same meaning category and subcategory in the given titles. The analysis shown there is inconsistency between textbooks in terms of representation of the topic of prokaryote and except the textbook published by Prodos and Taktik, the textbooks do not take into account the problematic of archaea in any way. Analysis of visual representations included in the Organic compound topics in lower-secondary chemistry textbooks

The submitted bachelor's thesis focuses on the analysis of visual components in the themes subsumed under the thematic area of Organic compounds in lower-secondary-school chemistry textbooks granted with a valid approval clause from The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. In the first part, the author deals with the theory, validation, evolvement and research of the textbooks. In the other parts, the author achieves the results through set out objectives and methods and offers a final evaluation. The conducted analysis is based on an altered method of Slovenian author N. Zupanc and provides an objective comparison of different textbooks and their selected chapters. The aim of this thesis is comparison of chosen chemistry textbooks from the point of their visuals and transitions between levels representing individual components. The textbooks, which were published after the introduction of the current curriculum, are considered to be processed didactically better - those are the two textbooks published by Nová Škola and Fraus. The issue of punctuation in the teaching of the Czech language at the second grade of primary school

The bachelor thesis is focused on the issue of punctuation in the teaching of the Czech language at the second grade of primary school. The theoretical part deals with general rules of using punctuation in simple sentence, compound sentence and complex sentence. The second part of theory deals with comparison of interpretation and the type of exercises in chosen contemporary textbooks of Czech language for eighth and ninth grade children. The practical part is about checking a level of achieved knowledge of punctuation at the eighth and ninth grade children.
