The partnership between České Budějovice and Lorient seen from the French point of view

The bachelor thesis "Partnership between České Budějovice and Lorient cities from the French side's point of view" is concerned with cooperation of two European cities which began in the sixties of the twentieth century, following the acquaintance of Břeský and Saffre families. The cooperation was being formed progressively up until 1997 when an official treaty was signed. The goal of the thesis is to provide a preview of the partnership from the French side's point of view and to describe key areas of its development with the focus on its perception by French public and the institutions which participate in it. The whole issue is described based on broader context of Czech-French relations.
Partnership in Local Development of Towns at the Example of Krnov

Diploma thesis deals with city to city partnership. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the impact of the projects based on city to city partnership. The theoretical part defines cross-border cooperation and town-twinning activities. The analytic part contains a case study of Krnov. In first part it focuses on evaluation of cross-border cooperation between the Czech Republic and Poland. In second part, there is a description and evaluation of town-twinning activities and projects. A questionnaire survey is used to evaluate the relationship between partner cities. The analysis of this survey outlines the main motives, benefits and barriers of town-twinning. Another factor influencing intensity of partnership has resulted beyond literary research.
The dialog in time of political tension: Czech-Bavarian town-twinning after 1989

Town-twinning is a way of international cooperation between self-governments at the local level. The town-twinning is based on regular meetings of town representatives and citizens. The other type of international cooperation is the cross-border cooperation that points at common solution of problems in particular border area. The main aim of the town-twinning is information and experience exchange, arrangement of common cultural and sport events, school cooperation and language skills improvement. Thanks to the involvement of citizens in town-twinning activities, the mutual prejudices are eliminated and relations improved. The diploma thesis analyses the town-twinning between Prague and Nuremberg (Nürnberg), Pilsen and Regensburg, Domažlice and Furth im Wald. Thanks to the partnership, the towns and cities can advance their own interests in foreign policy by methods of public diplomacy and paradiplomacy regardless the relations between country governments. The improvement of international relations thanks to the town-twinning can be represented by the relationship between the Czech Republic and the Free State of Bavaria, where the twin towns were constituted without regard to the official policy of the country or the federal state. Rapprochement from below? German-French town twinning from 1950 to 2000

The dissertation Rapprochement from below? German-French town twinning from 1950 to 2000 is a historiographic study that focuses on town twinning as a specific aspect of German-French co-operation in the second half of the 20th century. The topic is analysed in a wider German-French context and based on statistical data as well as archive sources. The main objective of the study is to evaluate the impact of high-level bilateral relations on German-French town twinning, identify the motivation of its supporters and compare German-French town twinning in the West-German and East-German federal states. Additionally, the localisation of town twins was studied for the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Partnership of Towns of the South Bohemia Region with Francophone Towns. Political Facilitation and Civil Society.

The purpose of this thesis was to investigate partnerships of towns of the South Bohemian region with towns in France. The thesis explored cooperation between the following towns: České Budějovice and Lorient, Tábor and Dole, Milevsko and Guichen, Blatná and Sargé-les-Le Mans and Nové Hrady and Vaulx-Vraucourt. The first part focussed on the history of international cooperation of European towns and its general importance. Another aim was to compare Czech and French law concerning international cooperation of municipalities and approach both of them with attached documents which confirms willingness of partnership towns to cooperate. The characteristics of towns and their relations were also included in the first part. In the second part of this study, the author presented thorough surveys based on interviews with important people who are connected to mentioned partnerships. The inquiry was focussed towards the history of partnerships, the structure of people involved in organisation of external activities, range of cooperation, funding, institutional support and age bracket of people participating in every possible way. The author found out which associations take part in international relations between explored towns. The results revealed some towns cooperate more then the others and that in one case there is no activity anymore. However, the existing partnerships have a good chance to last for a long time.
WORKING OF PROJECT DOCUMENTATION OF CZECH-GERMAN COOPERATION IN THE EVENT PARTNER TOWNS PÍSEK AND DEGGENDORF

The idea of town twinning was born shortly after the World War II and today brings together governments of many European countries. Town twinning becomes an important instrument of cooperation not only within the European Union, but a way of bringing people around the world. Characteristic twinning is to develop existing contacts of inhabitants of member countries , their knowledge, cultures and practices . This work is the first theory focuses on partnerships between cities , as well as specific partnership with the cities of Sand City Deggendorf and Wetzlar. In this particular example of cooperation of cities is shown to Czech -German cooperation. The thesis project proposal prepared by the Czech-German football tournament in Písek.
