Memorable trees in rural development

This diploma project is specialized on memorable trees in the Sokolov Region which is a part of the Karlovy Vary Region. The work is divided into a theoretic part and a research part.
In the theoretic part, there is a historical development of memorable tree care in the Czech Republic from past to the present, a legislative base, possible ways of arboricultural care and informations which are gained from Nature Conservation Agency of the Czech Republic website described. This agency register memorable trees in the Czech Republic.
The research part is focused on the field research of selected memorable trees in the Sokolov Region and the evaluation of its state of health, location description, quality of provided care and the way of memorable trees are marked. During the field research, there was a location of selected objects marked in tourist maps and captured by GPS navigations because of a easier orientation.
In the end, there are field research results summarized and evaluated. The works purpose is to get a bigger knowledge about memorable tree care and to find more easily selected trees because of its mapping.

Presentation of France in geographic and travel magazines published in Czech Republic

Cílem této práce je podat ucelený obraz o prezentaci Francie v cestovatelských a zeměpisných časopisech vydávaných v České republice. První část práce je zaměřená na teoretické definování cestovního ruchu a turismu obecně, dále potom na Francii jako turistickou destinaci a data o cestovním ruchu této země. Popis Francie metropolitní i zámořské je následován definováním mediálního systému, do nějž spadají periodika s cestovatelskou a zeměpisnou tématikou. Teoretická část práce je zakončena popisem jednotlivých konkrétních periodik a mediálními daty týkajícími se námi sledované problematiky. Na část teoretickou navazuje část praktická, která je kompletně zaměřená na analýzu korpusu článků s tematikou Francie, jejich roztřídění do ucelených tematických celků a zhodnocení informací předkládaných čtenáři prostřednictvím těchto článků. Výčet předkládaných informací je doplněn o poznatky a zjištění o stylu a neutralitě studovaných textů, o doprovodném fotografickém materiálu i o informacích, které čtenář v článcích nenalezne a důvody, proč tomu tak je. Práce obsahuje i popis metodologie tvorby dané práce, závěr shrnující zjištěné poznatky a obrazové přílohy doplňující předkládané informace.

Forest Kindergartens

Bachelor thesis "Forest kindergartens" is examining the theme of forest kindergartens in Czech republic. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. The theoretical part is focused on the history and the origin of forest kindergartens here, in Czech republic, and in the world. In individual chaptres there will be described the philosophy of forest kindergarten, methods and aims of work with children, the personality of the teacher, the types of forest kindergartens, its pluses and minuses. The conclusion examines methods of the education and the progress of children who visit forest kindergarten. The practical part is concentrated on the description of the environment, activities and motivation of educators in forest kindergartens. This description is patterned on observation of concrete environment and the interviews with pedagogues from five visited forest kindergartens. The detailed description of results with its evaluation follow. In the discussion are asked some questions concerning of the current activity and the vision of the future. In the end, I evaluate the meeting of the goals and the way how the theme influenced me. The results of the thesis present to the public the current situation of this alternative of the preschool education.

The development of children's creativity in an environment forest kindergarten

The best way how to awake and support the relationship to nature in children is to be outdoors. Nature works as a learning environment and a playroom of limitless possibilities that naturally develop children's creativity. The aim of this work is the theoretical introduction to the concept of creativity. The thesis tries to present a definition of this term, deals with the nature and importance of creativity. More specifically, it represents the creativity in preschool age and developmental stage within the context of creativity and barriers that affect creativity. The practical part offers activities that are suitable for children to realize in nature. Activities are aimed directly and indirectly to the development of children's creativity.

Nature in Cormac McCarthy's Novels

The aim of this thesis is to examine the topic of nature in novelistic oeuvre of American author Cormac McCarthy. This thesis pursues all ten novels, which are divided into three sections according to the region they are associated with. Ecocriticism was chosen as an approach; therefore, the first chapter deals with a short introduction to this interdisciplinary field. The aim of this thesis is to prove that the nature is a core aspect in Cormac McCarthy's novels, the significance of which lays both in description of American spaces and an ecological appeal on transformation of the anthropocentric perspective on the environment.

South - Bohemian Landscape in the Work of L. Mühlstein

This bachelor work analyses the way of depiction of South Bohemian Landscape, the relation between it and man, and themes like love, life and death in the animal kingdom in books written by Ludvík Mühlstein. It also tries to characterize the genre of reportage by comparison with books of Zdeněk Veselovský, Jaromír Tomeček and Ladislav Stehlík. It identifies the main features of factual literature and fiction, and explores the worlds of reality and fiction as well.

Struggle between civilization (culture) and nature (attempts forming a cultural maturity strategy)

People are not aware of the fact that we are living on the edge of a serious ecological disaster. One fifth of the population could afford to pollute our planet while these people are enjoying prosperity before the ecological problems begin directly to affect them, as the main culprits. The thesis is divided into seven parts. In the first part I analyze the roots of a conflict between culture and nature, the development of a relationship between humans and nature from the beginning of their existence and two evolutionary lines, cultural and natural. Further I explain the heart of the ecological disaster as well as an anti-natural characteristic of technology. In the second part I deal with the turning points in the evolution of technology. In the third part, I analyze the impact of technology and information on the time and the human labour. The fourth part is devoted to the analysis of the development of economy from the original gatherer-hunting economy to the today's modern economy. In the parts, five to seven, I analyze who is responsible for the depleted and devastated nature. Is it market economy, party politics or consumer society? The seventh part is engaged in the history of consumer society. The eighth part is focused on possible solutions to the conflict and on the ways how people could find way back and behave the way that they would not devastate natural systems from now. In the research part I am engaged in a question if we realize that our consumption of any various goods would have to be adequate and if we as humankind are willing lower our sights or if we are not interested in our future. I choose a qualitative research method for collecting data. A questionnaire is created for the purposes of my research. The questionnaire is divided into five parts focusing on social structure, transportation, consumption of energy, water and food. The research question is not answered clearly, the results differ in particular areas of consumption. In the area of transport 68 % of respondents use their own vehicle for the transportation to their work and they are not willing to change it. In the area of energy 69 % of respondents are not willing to lower the temperature while heating the rooms they live in. However, another result is more propitious. Only 26 % respondents of the quantity are not willing to invest into thermal insulation. 21 percent of respondents are not willing to refuse usage of domestic appliance or lower consumption of energy. Although the global scarcity of water is perceived as a serious or rather serious problem by 95 % of respondents only 56 % of them do not save water or they do not have any general knowledge about their own water consumption. Appliances saving water are not used and also would not be used in the future by 30 % of questioned people. 36 % of respondents throw away food into the waste but 80 per cent of them are willing to think more about what they buy and how they could use their unconsumed food. The thesis could be used by interested people (sociologists, teachers of ethics, etc.) as a research of thinking of common population and also as a foundation for thinking about nowadays values orientation of the society. Furthermore, it could be used as a study material for further consideration related to the willingness of people to re-evaluate their requirements in connection with our future generations. Keywords

Environmental Friendly Accommodation in a Particular Area

Theme of master's project is environmentally friendly accommodation in Prachatice and surroundings. The main objective is to identify friendly approaches in the accommodation offers in the friendly area and assess the significance friendly approaches in the strategy of companies, which offer accommodation. Using the sub-objective is considered the structure of preconditions for development of friendly approaches in the accommodation offers, the uniformity of deploy and preferences of visitors to the friendly approaches in accommodation offer. To meet the objectives was created offer analysis, compiled from online sources and books and analysis of demand through questionnaire survey, which investigated interest of respondents in environmentally friendly accommodation. Data obtained by analysis of offer and demand has led to the creation of proposals for optimizing the development of environmentally friendly accommodation in the area.

The influence of the environmental educational associations on children's relationship with nature

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the influence of environmental organizations and centres on children's behaviour in nature, and their relationship to it. It is a survey among students of higher grades of elementary schools and gymnasiums equivalent. The theoretical part deals with environmental education in the world and in the Czech Republic. There are also discussed various environmental organizations operating in South Moravia and Brno. The practical part analyses the data from questionnaire and prove that children, who attend environmentally friendly organizations have better relationship with nature and also behave better while in there.
