Intergenerational issues in kinship foster care

The bachelor thesis deals with the problems of kinship foster care. Kinship foster care is a form of foster care, in which a child is being raised by its relative. This form has undoubtedly many benefits, but it also brings out many difficulties. My thesis focuses on potential problems in kinship foster care. It discusses intergenerational issues in kinship foster care, where the child is being raised by his grandparents. The objective of this thesis is to determine, what are the intergenerational problems and to emphasize the differences between foster care and kinship foster care. The diploma thesis titled "Foster care" is dedicated to the foster care in the Czech republic. Its main objective is to explore the benefits of legislative changes to the functioning of foster care. The work also provides view of alternative forms of family education and types of foster care. In the theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the history of foster care, its forms, modes of mediation, both for applicants and in children. Furthermore, is the financing of foster care and foster's rights and obligations that are newly included within the framework of foster care. Finally, the work also addresses the difficulties that foster care entails, and which should be equated foster even before the adoption of a child in foster care. There is the thesis research among foster families focusing among other things on the evaluation of changes in foster care from their perspective in the practical part.
Temporary Foster Care in the Czech Republic and its Situation as a Result of Political Changes

Bachelor thesis "Temporary foster care in the Czech republic and its situation as a result of legislative changes" deals with current situation of foster care after amendment of Act of Child protection, which came into force in 2013. First part is aimed to explaining terms, which are necessary for the work. Descriptive part deals with foster care description, because foster care and temporary foster share a lot of characteristics. Descriptive part is also aimed to the temporary foster care. There is explained, what this type of family care means and who is designed for. It also defines, which condition must interested person fulfill, to become foster parent. Insignificant part of the work are also financial conditions of both types of foster care. Analytical part is aimed to foster parents and professionals opinions. Essential part is these people opinion about the amendment. It is researched if the situation after amendment was improved, and if conditions of foster care are now better or worse. Another part is aimed to opinions of temporary foster care. There is discovered if it was well established, if there is place for improvement and if there is a lot of people, who are interested in temporary foster care.
Foster care as a form of surrogate family with regard to reform of legal regulation

Foster care, which represents the most common form of substitute family care in many developed countries including Czech Republic, constitutes the topic of this thesis. Foster care is managed, controlled and financed by the state. Its purpose is to provide a foster home for child, whose parents cannot, do not want to, or fail to take care of for various reasons. In Czech Republic foster care has undergone an interesting development, which reflected situation at the time, as well as empirical and theoretical knowledge in this area. Under the Communist regime, which idealized institutional care, foster care was even canceled a number of years. At present, foster care is widely used and supported by the state. Experts stress the importance of long-term foster care and her ability to redress psychological deprivation in children. On the other side, the experts warn of dire psychological consequences of institutional care. According to the Act No. 89/2012 Coll., civil code as well as several international conventions, substitute family care takes precedence over institutional care. Foster family in view of biological children

The diploma thesis is concerned with the long-term foster care; particularly with the experience of foster carer's own children. It provides knowledge of the alternative care system in the Czech Republic and the particularities of foster families. It describes how own children of foster carers experience the period of time before their foster sibling's arrival, what are their feelings and reactions after the arrival, how their positions in the family change, how their relationships are formed and how they perceive their parent's decision retrospectively. The theoretical part is followed by empirical part which is composed of quantitative and qualitative research. The results of quantitative research introduce the experience of biological children and create a basic idea of the situations in foster families. The conclusions of the qualitative research are then an addition of the quantitative part and help to a better imagination of the life in foster families. This thesis should contribute to foster care applicants, their children and specialists who work with foster families. Psychological pregnancy of foster parents

The diploma thesis is concerned about the theme of psychological pregnancy of foster parents. The main focus of diploma thesis was map the motivation, expectations and experiences of future foster parents. The diploma thesis was divided to two main parts, theoretic part and practical part. The theoretic part reported summary of information about parenthood, alternative family care, experiences of pregnancy and experiences of expectation a child future foster parents. Practical part was concentrared on motivation and expectations of applicants foster parents. Qualitative research, method of interview was used. The results of diploma thesis could use experts of alternative family care, whoes are interested to specialized training for future foster parents.
