The issue involves patient himself, but also a caregiver and a medical staff. The theoretical part of this thesis deals with pain and pharmacological pain management from a psychological point of view and focuses on a problematic attitude toward opioids. This thesis is based on the latest scientific findings by Czech and international researchers. Preparation of modified ligands of mu-opioid receptors
Hadzima, Martin ; Machara, Aleš (advisor) ; Veselý, Jan (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with preparation of modified ligands of mu, delta and kappa opioid receptors, following up on the author's bachelor's thesis.1 The main goal of the submitted thesis is ligand tethering at an appropriate position using oligoethylene glycol linkers, to enable their use in the innovative iBodies concept.2 Ligands chosen for modifications were: naltrexone (μ-opioid receptor), naltrindole (δ-opioid receptor) and nalfurafine (κ-opioid receptor). Naltrexone was modified, according to the bachelor's thesis results, at the C-6 position with linker attachment via ether and amide. At the same time, the influence of the configuration at the newly formed C-6 stereogenic center on biological activity was studied. In case of naltrindole, access through indole nitrogen was chosen based on the information in literature.3-5 Nalfurafine was modified on the furane fragment. Series of fluorescently labeled ligands were prepared. Attachment of the fluorescent tag allowed us to study the affinity and selectivity of these modified ligands. Based on the results, ligands for development of DIANA method and for preparation of synthetic iBodies were synthesised.6 Key words: naltrexone, receptor, conjugate, opioid receptor 1 M. Hadzima. Pharmaceutical Industry and Healthcare Policy
Babilon-Crockett, Max ; Háva, Petr (advisor) ; Dlouhý, Martin (referee)
This thesis is concerned with assessing the involvement of the pharmaceutical industry with the United States' health system. We will consider the role that the industry plays in the greater system, and how its activities influence the environment around it. This is done through a case study, in the context of the United States experiencing a so-called "opioid epidemic." This crisis is a serious problem for the health system, and society as a whole, which predominantly involves prescription pharmaceuticals. We will undertake an examination of the pharmaceutical industry's relationship with that crisis through a strong reliance on critical discourse analysis, rooted in systems theory. Despite being a critical component in the American health system, and the one directly responsible for the creation of pharmaceuticals, we will see that the industry is predominantly treated as an ally in addressing the opioid epidemic, rather than complicit in its emergence. This indicates that the industry successfully influences the discourse surrounding its role and responsibilities as a component of the health system. Mothers awareness of the suckers and the toddlers nutrition
NOVÁČKOVÁ, Dana
The proposed bachelor thesis is entitled ``The task of nurse in the dealing with pain in hospice facilities{\crqq}. Pain is one of the most frequent symptoms of cancer disease. The majority of oncological patients is not afraid of the disease itself but of the pain vision. Especially in the hospice treatment, i.e., the treatment of patients in the terminal stage of their illness, we see that it is necessary to appease the pain efficiently in order to help to improve the quality of patient life. In the theoretical part of this thesis, the terms such as lenitive and hospice treatment are described as well as forms and goals of hospice treatments. Furthermore, the pain physiology and resolution, factors influencing the pain, pain evaluation and pain treatment options are discussed. The task of medical treatment of pain and a unique role of nurse in this treatment is explained. Various applications of analgesics and possible ways of communication with the patient are also described. Options of alternative, non-pharmacological, cure for pain and a role of nurse in this treatment is mentioned. In the end, we discuss the lenitive treatment and pain healing of elders and restless patient. Goals of the practical part of the thesis are the recording of the problem of tumor pain management in hospices from a nurse point of view and the investigation whether hospice staff uses the method of treatment process. Two work hypotheses related to this goal were proposed. The first one supposes that nurses employed in Czech hospices have enough knowledge about the pain management. The second hypothesis supposes that staff uses the method of treatment process. The research was conducted in hospices in Červený Kostelec, Brno, Rajhrad, Plzeň, Litoměřice, Most, Prachatice, Praha, Valašské Meziříčí and Olomouc, in home care Cesta domů in Praha, in mobile hospice Ondráček in Ostrava and in a mobile hospice in Benešov. We used a questionnaire research method. The questionnaire contained identification questions, questions focused on the work of nurses in the dealing with pain in hospices and questions related to the treatment in hospices. The achieved results confirmed the first hypothesis (nurses in Czech hospices have enough knowledge about the pain management). The second hypothesis (the staff uses the method of treatment process) was not approved.
