abART, National Library of the Czech Republic (NK), VIAF and Earthquake
Hůla, Jiří
The Archive of Fine Art operates its own information system – abART, a comprehensive database of Czech and Slovak art that is based on data atomization and link data principles. It distinguishes two hundred document types, some of them belong to grey literature (press releases, theses, bibliographies, handouts, etc.). Moreover, AbART can define also any other events. For the processing of remote areas such as earthquakes, it would be necessary to create a broad information base, inserting elements to identify records in the National Library (NK). But what about 46,746 people not listed by the NK?
Archive+
Domiňáková, Michaela ; Ponešová, Barbora (referee) ; Kristek, Jan (advisor)
The design theme is not just the archive as a repository of past, but primarily center of architecture as a platform for sharing ideas and shifting boarders in architecture. This makes an institution with overlapping contradictory programs at different levels. It is both closed and open. These two counterparts are solved in spatial and material „spiral“. On the one hand, there is the notion of absolute closeness that of archive, on the other there is also the idea of the maximum openness of public space. Closeness and openness are transcribed in mass, materiality as well as programmatic solutions of space. The aim is to modulate the degree of social interaction in each of the spaces according to its function.
Globalization and Small Countries - Unique Challenges, Universal Solutions
Petkovska, Katerina ; Cahlík, Tomáš (advisor) ; Benáček, Vladimír (referee)
This work focuses on globalization, more closely on the economic aspects of this process. Small countries, especially developing ones are in the spotlight, as they face unique challenges that have been addressed by the international community for decades at least. The success rate of the intervention is very questionable and leaves room for improvement, which may be a platform to elevate millions out of poverty, solve crippling problems, provide access to technology and improve the global economic system. The uniting hypothesis is that that small developing nations are functioning in a hostile environment when it comes to trade, intellectual property protection and debt, which makes it extremely difficult for them to globalize competitively. Economic history, trade and technology are the main filters of this research. Conventional economic theory like market fundamentalism, and international trade theories will be discussed. A holistic literature review, will try to depict the many sides of the argument. The data used will be from the World Competitiveness Report, World Bank's World Development Indicators, other World Bank data, apropriatiate statistical offices. A case study is implemented to conclude the thesis and in this case to evaluate the hypothesis as only partly true, since small...

Znamená více volného obchodu větší stát?
Blaščík, Adam ; Špecián, Petr (advisor) ; Slaný, Martin (referee)
My thesis examines a paradoxical relationship between the openness of a country to the international trade and the size of its government. My hypothesis is that the openness causes growth of the government sector. Panel of five middle European countries is used for empirical verification of the hypothesis. I use the sum of import and export over GDP as a suitable proxy for openness of a country and total government revenue over GDP as a proxy for scope of a government. Using the random effects estimator, I found the negative effect of openness on the government size, but I failed to find this effect significant or robust. Hence, I discuss alternative explanations.

Then there are described three existential movements, which Jan Patočka educes from the care of the soul and its three aspects. In another part is firstly implied relation between the care of the soul and philosophy, and then the original theme and herewith the aim of these two activities. The last part is an attempt to show how it can happen, that we are talking about ?succour from philosophy?, then how to use the care of the soul for we could see the world as our home and what the consequences will be there, when we don't care of the soul and instead we paying attention only to the exact knowledge of modern science.
