The image of the world in journalistic photography (the comparetive analysis of international photography exhibitions Interpressfoto and World Press Photo)

Thesis The image of the world in journalistic photography (the comparative analysis of international photography exhibitions Interpressphoto and World Press Photo) deals with the comparison of both exhibitions before the fall of the Iron Curtain. World Press Photo was designed for photographers of the West, Interpressphoto for photographers of the East. The work focuses on the ideological aspects of both exhibitions and ask the question whether an image - that West (World Press Photo) and East (Interpressphoto) wanted to present - is suspended by ideological establishment, what level of manipulation both of exhibitions show and whether this manipulation in both cases is comparable to or significantly different. The work also focuses on comparing important aspects of the winning photos of both exhibitions: selected places from which the photos were brought, the level of drama, accessibility (how is the photographer of the country easy / difficult to get into the country) and importance (how much the photographers focus on countries that have a large size, wealth and military power). At the beginning, it is hypothesized that the level of ideology was comparable in both countries. This hypothesis is then verified using coding tables.

The Tarahumara's Worldview

Résumé The dissertation called The Tarahumara Worldview is the attempt to indicate and clear up the relationship between the language and the culture. The work follows from the mytical arrangement of the Tarahumara natural world living in the Northwestern of Mexico from the description and analyses of some language elements and searching for its language features in the culture. The author puts a few questions: what is position of myth in the worldview - in case there is some?; what is the relation of the Tarahumara language and culture?; does exist any possibility to outcome of the relation of two parts of one culture as it is myth system and language system into thing what the anthropology consider as the worldview?, does myths and language could show in any way a setting of Tarahumara native world setting, their way of thinking?; does the myth shows the base for the cultural creation and how?; even if the question is dificult becouse of the European culture influences we are trying to ask for the origin of Tarahumara culture in the myth - what is the role of the myth and what is the role of the language in Tarahumara worldview. "Major Zeman": Comparative analysis of verbal narratives and TV serial presentations

The diploma thesis "Major Zeman": Comparative analysis of verbal narratives and TV serial presentations deals with two narrative media that depict the Zeman's story: a literary narrative by Jiří Procházka and its realization as TV series. Factors affecting the resulting form of both versions were identified by means of a gradual analysis of each of the versions. These factors were external interventions made by a management of a TV company and by its professional advisors as well as a mutual rivality of producers of the series. A focus to a TV audience and a literary ambition of Procházka, who attempted to step over the boundaries of a crimi genre, played their roles as well. These all resulted in two differently conceived fiction worlds. The narrative world, built on a myth-building principle, appears to be coherent, joined by an unifying ideological line. On the contrary, the TV series world appears to be scattered.
