A Proposal to Increase the Effectiveness of Sales Representatives

The thesis deals with insufficiencies in the management and motivation of sales representatives. Based on an analysis of the present situation, it proposes measures to improve the performance and effectiveness of their work. The theoretical part contains findings from the field of managerial functions and motivation. The practical part analyses the present situation and, based on suggestions and recommendations, proposes changes that are important to ensure fulfilling the plan of a regional branch.
Business and Cultural Specifics of Cuba

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to characterize general information about Cuba, Cuban current economic situation and predominantly cultural and business specifics. The first chapter deals with the geographical and political position of Cuba, population, history, economic structure, main macroeconomic indicators and economic potential. The second chapter focuses on foreign trade and gives information about relationships between Cuba and the US and Cuba and the EU. The third chapter is devoted to the Cuban culture, their customs and traditions, art, the status of women and is complemented by knowledge from a Cuban student. The last chapter analyses the course and specifics of business negotiations and is supported by information from Czech and Slovak companies, which have already entered the Cuban market.
Czech-Swiss trade relations

The main goal of the thesis is to analyze trade relations between the Czech republic and Switzerland. The thesis also includes analysis of the Swiss attitude towards the European union and presents cultural and trade specifics of Switzerland. The first chapter characterizes Switzerland in general and economically. The second chapter deals with bilateral relations between Switzerland and the European union. The third chapter describes trade relations between Switzerland and the Czech republic, the development of the trade balance between these two countries and possible development of their trade relations in the future. The fourth chapter is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical section is based on the concept of cultural dimensions introduced by Geert Hofstede and Gert Jan Hofstede and compares the Swiss and the Czech culture. The practical section is focused on the Czech view of business negotiations with the Swiss and contains evaluation of questionnaires that were filled in by Czech employees who cooperate with the Swiss on a daily basis.
Business and Cultural Specifics of Israel

The main aim of my bachelor thesis is to characterize economic, cultural and business aspects of Israel. The first chapter is devoted to the basic characteristics of Israel, specifically to geographic conditions, demographic data, history of immigration,religious gropus, state establishment and legal system, national emblems, practical information. The second chapter is aimed at economic characteristics of Israel, which includes an analysis of the basic macroeconomic indicators, foreign trade of Israel and the trade with the Czech Republic. The third chapter is devoted to the culture of Israel and its influence of the business negotiations. The fourth chapter is the result of the questionnaire survey and interviews with the representatioves of the Slovak and Czech companies.
Specialities of business environment, business and cultural specialities of Dalmatia and their influence on cooperation with the Czech Republic

This thesis aims to illustrate the business environment of Dalmatia, Croatia and its specialities of economic, cultural and business kind. It furthermore investigates the specific style of business dealings in the region and summarises what entrepreneurs considering business partnership with companies from Dalmatia should expect, how to prepare themselves for business negotiations and which steps to take during them and after signing of the contract. The thesis uses methods of PESTEL and SWOT analyses due to which the specialities of the environment are highlighted and then compared with corresponding elements of Czech environment. From the undertaken analyses it can be stated that Dalmatia fights high unemployment made up mostly by its seasonal element. Up to a fifth of the country's GDP is generated by tourism which creates unfavourable dependence of the economy on a swiftly changeable and volatile branch of the economy. The region is also admittedly characterized by a high share of renewable resources on the production of electrical energy and further potential in this branch, above average density of connection to the internet network in comparison to the rest of the country, and the interest of Czech investors in tourism, banking sector, energetics and food industry.
Cultural standards of the USA

The purpose of this diploma thesis is to describe the features of the American culture by analyzing the cultural standards, use them for comparison with the Slovak culture and create a set of recommendations for easier adaptation of the Slovaks in the United States. The work is divided into three parts - theoretical, practical and empirical. In the theoretical section we define the concept of culture, cultural standards and cultural dimensions, and on this basis we compare the features of the American and Slovak culture. The practical part describes the characteristics of the USA - national symbols, history, geography, religion, population, economy, political system, basic features of the US market, the impact of globalization and the specifics of the US business environment. The empirical section uses a questionnaire survey to examine the American culture from the Slovak point of view. The result of this thesis is a manual created with the use of the synthesis and comparison methods.
International trade with fresh fruit and vegetables

The main goal of my Master´s thesis is to evaluate dynamic environment of international trade with fresh fruit and vegetables. In the first part of my thesis I analyzed importance of the production of fresh fruit and vegetables for economies of selected countries. Next I had described the trade flows and patterns. In the second part I made a characterization of payment terms and trade negotiations in the context of international trade with fresh fruit and vegetables. Furthermore I made an analysis of import and export rules and regulations of the EU. Based on this analysis I came to general conclusions on the trade policies of countries and communities. In the last part of my thesis I applied findings from the previous parts on the analysis of two cases. The first analyzed case is the situation of imports of Chinese pomelo to the EU, with regards to maximal residue levels of pesticides. Second analyzed case is the situation of South African citruses imported to the EU, with regards to the problematic of citrus black spots.
Cultural standards and their impacts on business negotiation - case study of China

This bachelor thesis is focused on the impact of cultural standards on business negotiation focusing on China. In this work were used descriptive and comparative methods of investigation. The first part deals with culture as it is, provides the demarcation of concepts as culture, cultural relativism or organizational culture. Further provides partitions of some specifics of culture and a brief description of history and its evolution. Consequently contains a detailed description of cultural dimensis theory from Geert Hofstede, which is consisted of five parts: power distance, collectivisme versus individualisme, masculinity versus femininity, uncertainty avoidance and long term orientation. In the second part is application of these dimensions on Chinese culture. Below are specific features of Chinese culture, like mianzi - face, guanxi - connections and also are described some aspects of business etiquette with particular focus on negotiations in China. Practical part demonstrates that the Chinese culture plays a significant role in trade negotiations with Chinese partners.
Analýza vzájemného vnímání interkulturních odlišností Čechů a Němců v obchodním jednání

The aim of the thesis is to analyze the mutual perceptions of intercultural differences between Czechs and Germans in business negotiations. Currently, more and more international companies in the Czech republic are based on the cooperation between Czechs and Germans. Mutual cooperation between the representatives of these nations brings many positive effects, but it can also lead to misunderstandings and conflicts, mainly due to the different understanding of some aspects of foreign culture. In theoretical part, the thesis deals with concepts such as globalization, culture, nation and nationality. Furthermore, it deals with intercultural psychology and intercultural communication, which is also related to prejudices and stereotypes. At the end of the theoretical part there is a reference to the cultural dimensions and standards, international business environment and business cooperation between Czechs and Germans. The empirical part describes the semantic differential method, which was the basis for the research. In this research, Czech and German respondents, who are frequent participans in businness negotiations, were addressed.
