Bělohlávková, Kateřina ; Janovec, Ladislav (advisor) ; Palkosková, Olga (referee)
7. SUMMARY This diploma thesis The information value and acceptability of forecasting is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part the forecasting is described as a product of television newscast. I deal with the fact of forecasting entering the media communication. I deal with the information value that forecasts bring and show the way a piece of information is transferred from a producer to an addressee relating to the process of coding and decoding. I describe the acceptability of forecasts and its elements influencing comprehension. In relation to acceptability, textual linguistics is discussed in a separated subchapter. The last theoretical part deals with semiotics and semantics. These disciplines deal mainly with meaning and sings and that is the reason why they are not important only in the theoretical part but also in an analyzing part of this thesis. The analyzing part is based on semiotic survey analysis dealing with individual components of forecasts (visual, audio and audio-visual). The aim of this thesis is to find out which of components of forecasting brings the highest information value to respondents and which is best comprehensible for addressees. The survey results demonstrate that it is the audio forecasting that has a high information value and brings...

After 1989, in connection with beginning media freedom and development of commercial media sector we could observe remarkable growth of news related to criminality and crime. We could also realize an increase of their tabloidization and brutalization. Unqualified public gains its knowledge of criminality in the region it is staying in and also in the whole republic particularly from the media. Media may although report to the recipients incorrectly about the involvement of criminality, number of crimes etc. The themes of this diploma thesis are as following: media production related to criminality and journalism, normative demands for journalism and media products including their infringements, social and media construction of reality and media representation. Within the qualitative analysis I am observing the media representations of the criminals, named Jiri Kajinek, Petr Zelenka, Vaclav...
Changes in Media with the Arrival of a New Owner. Case Study-MF DNES
Heřmanská, Lucie ; Osvaldová, Barbora (advisor) ; Chudoba, David (referee)
A bachelor's thesis on Changes in Media with the Arrival of a New Owner. Case Study: MF DNES deals with the functioning of periodicals' ownership in the Czech Republic. In particular, it aims to present the current situation in the area with the example of daily newspaper Mladá fronta Dnes, which after many years of operating under a foreign owner, German company Rheinisch-Bergische Verlagsgesellschaft passed into the ownership of Czech businessman and current Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Andrej Babiš. After his entry into the said most popular Czech broadsheet newspaper, doubts began to appear in public discourse on whether media owned by a both politically and entrepreneurially significant person can be independent. This paper therefore monitors changes that have occurred in the Mladá fronta Dnes periodical with the arrival of the new owner, and also whether the media image of Mr. Babiš's person and his interests has been improved upon through the articles of the newspaper. The results presented here were obtained with the use of a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis, and they show that there has been a substantial increase in contributions regarding the new owner, though their impact was rather negative.
A role of the symbol in media communication
Pečenková, Jana ; Kladný, Tomáš (advisor) ; Poštulka, Filip (referee)
My thesis is devoted to the topic of symbols in media messages. I choose this topic mainly because I work in media communication, specifically in the field of public relations, and that is why I wanted to focus on the area that is close to me not only professionally. Symbols are one of the signs whose meaning depends on the cultural or social context and the value system. My intention is with the help of various methods of semiotic analysis to show how media messages are full of symbols and that we are often not aware of their meaning and affect on us. Media messages are all around us, and thus we are confronted with them every day. It is important to be aware of their meaning because they are part of our cultural environment and thus they affect us backward.
