Center for seniors in Brno-Medlánky
Drápela, Jan ; Klimecký, Martin (referee) ; Gerö, Jiří (advisor)
The architectural study of the senior center in Brno-Medlánky builds upon the territorial study carried out in the previous semester as part of the subject NGA056 - Specialized Studio (ArA). The result of the territorial study was a proposal for a compact development that combines all the needs of the area, from housing, through public amenities, a church, transportation connections with a tram loop, sports hall, park, to a senior center. Within the architectural study, a project was developed to create a comprehensive senior center that meets current standards. The center offers a wide range of services and facilities, quality common areas, as well as privacy in individual rooms and corresponding adjacent outdoor spaces. The design of the center is based on compactness and linearity. The center consists of two main volumes, with the larger one oriented parallel to the adjacent road. The second volume is perpendicular to it and they are connected by a communication block. In the front part facing the main road, a smaller entrance courtyard is created oriented to the west, while on the eastern side there is a larger space with a park. This area is bordered by the center's buildings on two sides, as well as adjacent residential buildings and greenery separating it from existing development, offering a peaceful space for seniors. Both volumes are located above an underground parking lot, which also extends under the entrance area. The individual buildings are then divided according to the services provided and the type of care. The ground floor offers a variety of services, a café, and the main entrance to the building, creating an active meeting place for clients and the public. The center aims to create dignified contemporary spaces for clients' stay and their integration into the surroundings, providing them with a pleasant atmosphere and a sense of belonging to their new home.

The walls of the lift shaft are designed as cast-in-place reinforced concrete. The ETICS insulation contact system will be used to insulate the building. The foundation strips are designed from plain concrete and are connected to the partial basement part of the building with gradations. The foundation slab under the lift landing is designed from reinforced concrete. The horizontal structures are designed as cast-in-place reinforced concrete two-way slab and cantilever slab (at loggias). Center for seniors in Brno-Medlánky
Otépka, Petr ; Klimecký, Martin (referee) ; Gerö, Jiří (advisor)
The architectural study for the elderly home follows on the urban-architectural study conducted in the previous semester as a part of the NGA056 – Specialised Studio course. The study resulted in a compact urban development with mix of functions. It includes not only housing, commerce, public buildings, the church, the sport hall and transport facilities, but also a block of centre for elderly. The architectural study is focused on creating a complex centre with good supply of services, amenities, privacy and, most importantly, quality spaces. The design is based on the concept of compactness. All pavilions which are full of spatial and operational requirements form a block and inner courtyard. The inner courtyard is situated above the underground parking, and it is adjacent to a park, connected to it by a ‘neck’. The park opens to the southwest and its borders are defined by the centre on the east and apartment building for elderly on north side. On the side which faces the centre of the new district, the block turns on its ground floor, accommodating a café, entrances and other services. It facilitates connection with the community, together with park on the opposite side. The proposal presents a contemporary perspective on housing for the elderly in our society. The spaces try to have their own identity, with which residents or clients can identify and accept a room or apartment as their home, rather than just a final stop on their life’s journey.

An apartment building with student dormitories on Peace Square in Brno
Vašková, Kateřina ; Klimecký, Martin (referee) ; Gerö, Jiří (advisor)
The subject of my bachelor's thesis focuses on the concept of a residential building and student dormitories in the urban district of Brno – Stránice. The studied area is situated in close proximity to Kraví Hory. The northwest boundary of the plot also represents the outskirts of Náměstí Míru. The southwest part of the plot adjoins existing student dormitories, while the southeast boundary connects to a local road, Cyril and Methodius gymnasium, and a secondary vocational school for pedagogy. The surroundings efficiently connect to urban transportation infrastructure, and in terms of automobile traffic, the area is linked to several main roads, with direct access from the north to the main road Údolní and further to the adjacent Lerchova Street. The proposed complex consists of a residential building and student dormitories. This work specifically addresses one of the two blocks of student dormitories, a four-story building with one underground floor. In the underground floor, there are garages and a technical room. The top of the building is terminated by a flat green roof. The construction is designed using a system of ceramic masonry, Porotherm, insulated with mineral wool. The ceilings are predominantly designed systematically, using the MIAKO ceiling system, with the exception of the ceiling above the basement. Each floor offers six dormitory rooms for two to three students, and from the second floor upwards, some rooms are supplemented with comfortable balconies. These rooms include a kitchen, bathroom and a living area. End rooms are specially designed for individuals with reduced mobility. Each floor's corridor provides space for communication, reading, or phone calls, thanks to the presence of seating furniture. The basement serves as garages and also houses a technical room. The building's facade is designed as plastered, complemented by window frames antracid coloured and railings in turquoise, contributing to young appearance of the entire structure.
House of dignified old age Ivanovice
Šalandová, Lucie ; Kvasnica, Lukáš (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor's thesis was the elaboration of a proposal and subsequent processing of project documentation, consisting of documentation for building permits, documentation for construction implementation, and the design of architectural details on the topic: Dignified Aging House in Brno Ivanovice. This work builds upon the results of the BGA021 Architectural Design Studio focusing on residential buildings, which was developed during the winter semester of the second year. The goal of addressing the topic of a dignified aging house was to comply with all regulations and standards while creating dignified and comfortable living for the elderly generation. This objective was achieved by creating separate residential units with private outdoor spaces in the form of lodges, as well as common spaces, both interior and exterior. The first floor serves common purposes, including healthcare services, a social room with a thermos dispensary, garage space, and an atrium garden. The remaining two floors provide residential functions. The building itself has a shape resembling a lowercase "u," creating a private outdoor space for residents and a semi-public outdoor space in the rear of the plot. This space is accessible not only from the level of the second floor but also via the access road leading along the northern side of the plot, which also serves the garage area. Due to the height difference between the eastern and western parts of the plot, landscaping adjustments were proposed in line with the elevation of the first floor in the outdoor atrium section. Garages were placed below ground level on the western side of the plot, with a garden created above them at the level of the second floor. The design extensively incorporates green areas in combination with a reinforced concrete monolithic structure clad in white facade, wooden paneling, iron railings, and brick roofing.

Possibilities of energy savings in the residential house Merhautova
Bartek, Čeněk ; Kalánek, Jiří (referee) ; Ostrý, Milan (advisor)
The diploma thesis is about the reduction of the energy intensity of the existing residential house Merhautova. The design documentation is focused on the thermal insulation of the living area, the replacement of windows and doors according to the variant of the design, accessible entrance to the house, loggia on the south side of the building and the replacement of the roofing. At the beginning of the diploma thesis the experimental part of the thermography was performed. Images of the existing object by the thermal camera were taken and building survey for the design documentation of the current state of the building was performed. Within the theoretical calculations the energy performance certificate was processed in options of the entering the thermal bridges. The energy performance certificate with thermal bridges calculated according to the details was compared with the energy performance certificate with estimated thermal bridges. A comparison of two options of the replacement of windows and doors was made in realation of the energy intesity of the building. A preliminary budget of these two options was also calculated with regard to the expected simple return on investment due to the heat saving.
