Interest Groups, Lobbying and its Regulation in the Czech Republic

Diploma thesis "Interest Groups, lobbying and it's regulation in the Czech Republic" deals with the phenomenon of lobbying and it's role in democratic political processes. First part of this thesis is aimed at political theories of interest groups, various definitions of lobbying and methods of regulating lobbyists. The second part containes a comparison of lobbying regulations in various western states. The third part containes an analysis of the present state of lobbying regulation in the Czech Republic. In the final fourth part, certain methods of lobbying regulation are proposed to take place in the Czech Republic and scrutinized for compliance with the oppinion of Czech political elites and professional lobbyists.
Barack Obama's Efforts to Reduce the Influence of Lobbyists and Interests Groups on Federal Government

Bachelor thesis Barack Obama's Efforts to Reduce the Influence of Lobbyists and Interests Groups on Federal Government deals with Barack Obama efforts to reduce the influence of lobbyists and interests groups in regards with federal government rulings. First of all it explains that lobbying is protected by the First Amendment of the US Constitution which implies freedom of speech. Although lobbying has been regulated ever since the 19th century, the first important federal law was not enacted until 1945 when Federal Regulation of Lobbying Act came into force. The main part of the thesis concentrates on the person of Barack Obama and his actions and initiatives concerning federal lobbying regulations. During his term in US Senate was Obama leading person in promoting the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007. After that, on his first day as a president Obama signed First Executive Order which was supposed to close revolving door between the government and the private sector. In the last part, it analysis problematic parts of reform and gives possible solutions.
Arts Advocacy

Arts advocacy, called a defence of culture and arts, is an unknown area for many people in Czech Republic. Almost no one thinks about it on a theoretical level, so it still remains mainly a foreign domain. Master thesis summarizes and in detail describes this essential area of every culture organization in the theory. It discuss some of the selected methods of arts advocacy and sources of their argumentation: an awareness of own usefulness as an advocacy basis, economical benefits of a culture as an advocacy argumentation source, contact with elected representatives, coalition building and community involvement as a cultural advocate. In addition, thesis also provides several examples of good practice from abroad. Based on the acquired knowledge, the thesis reflects the state of the arts and culture advocacy in our country.
EU a lobbismus

The influence and representation of interest on the European level are becoming more important for companies. Even though lobbying is very often viewed as negative process, it is possible to look at it as a tool of coordination of interests. The aim is to show overview of economics schools dealing with lobbying and interest representation and to describe the possibilities for lobbying in the European institutional environment. The lobbying process in its variety of levels will be shown on the case study of the Shift2Rail JU. It clarifies that the professional association has the highest potential to widen their influence in preparatory phase of the process because of their knowledge of the European environment. The hypothesis assuming, that the participants would consider the process as complicated and bureaucratic, has shown to be incorrect. In contrary, they evaluate it as effective.
