Ability of laical public providing first aid in acute condition from point of view of paramedics
SKALICKÝ, Tomáš
This bachelor's thesis examines the issues of providing non-professional first aid in acute condition from paramedics'point of view. The bachelor's thesis is divided into a theoretical part and research part. At first, the theoretical part describes the emergency medical service, its rescue forces and types of ambulance crew in order to explain the connection between the first aid and pre-hospital emergency care. This part analyses the first aid not only from the theoretical and practical point of view, but also from a social psychological one. Then, the theoretical part also deals with anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and the first aid of six selected acute conditions. The second part is focused on the analysis of data obtained from a research survey. The research survey was conducted by a qualitative survey using as main methods a semi-structured interview and direct observation during university practice. The semi-structured interview includes 33 questions and is answered by eight paramedics that serves in the South Bohemian Region. The aim of this thesis is to find out what the range of capabilities of general public is in providing the non-professional first aid, how effective the general public is in providing the non-professional first aid and whether people are willing to help. The obtained information led to answering all research questions and fulfilling the aim of the bachelor's thesis. The results of the research evaluate non-professional public as willing enough and with sufficient abilities to provide the first aid but on the other hand the effectiveness of performed actions is considerably insufficient. The main contribution of this bachelor's thesis is the rise of awareness about the issues of the first aid provided by laical public, which could contribute to the improvement of the first aid educational method and subsequently to the improvement of providing the non-professional first aid by general public in cases of acute conditions.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation from the point of view of emergency medical assistance group
PRAŽÁK, Tomáš
This thesis thoroughly explores the issues that come with cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which in pre-hospital care is handled by emergency medical assistance groups and of which paramedic staff are an inseparable part. These paramedics have a necessity for sufficient, in-depth knowledge and experience. Without the early and critical assistance that paramedics are able to provide, a patient could suffer from irreversible changes in health and are even at a risk of death. This bachelor's thesis is divided into a theoretical section and a research section, further exploring this incredibly important subject. The theoretical section explores the history of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It also digs into the basic life support provided mainly by lay rescuers, in accordance with the guidelines of the European Resuscitation Council. Furthermore, this section also contains information about advanced life support, once again in accordance with the guidelines of the European Resuscitation Council, which is aimed primarily at health care professionals and particularly those who carry the title of paramedic. The research section on the other hand, is based on qualitative research based on interviews consisting of 13 questions. These questions are targeted towards a research group consisting of a group of 12 paramedics employed in the South Bohemian region. This section includes an analysis of the obtained data and their evaluation. The aim of this work is to map the awareness of paramedics about the latest suggested methods for cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to the guidelines of the European Resuscitation Council and to find out how paramedics view and handle cases of sudden circulatory arrest.

Knowledge of the younger schoolchildren about life emergency staets
Procházková, Jana ; Eislerová, Iva (advisor) ; Burišková, Klára (referee)
The bachelor's thesis concerns the research of the knowledge of the younger school children about life-saving situations. A group of fourteen children visiting the second school class in the Prague West district was used as a sample. The goal of my thesis was to gain a picture about the knowledge of the eight years old children about urgent first aid as well as to give the children a quide how to act in the unfamiliar crisis situations. The thesis is divided into two parts. Theoretical part is divided into separate chapters. The beginning is devoted to an introduction into the topic of the urgent first aid, to present the components and function of the integrated rescue system and there are as well some statistics mentioned here. The second chapter deals with general procedures recomended when providing first aid. In the last chapter I describe particular selcted life-threatening situations and methods of first aid provision. In the empirical part the methodology and organization of the research is decribed. I have used a qualitative focus group method in connection with practical training of some urgent first aid techniques. Also the percentage and graphical evaluation of the research outcomes and goals is enclosed here. This part of the thesis is wrapped up by a discussion. Key words: life...
Nursing Process for a Patient with Post-resuscitation Therapeutic Hypothermia after Acute Myocardial Infarction
Viktora, Jan ; Vytejčková, Renata (advisor) ; Petrák, Ondřej (referee)
The bachelor's thesis deals with acute cardiology, namely with casuistry of a patient after acute myocardial infarction with successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the field, artificial pulmonary ventilation and therapeutic hypothermia. The thesis wants to present the highly specialised and demanding nursing care of resuscitated patients from the nurse's point of view with the use of the most modern procedures and technology. The theoretical part of the thesis is divided to several chapters describing anatomy and physiology of the cardiac muscle, acute myocardial infarction, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and therapeutic hypothermia. The main focus of this part of the thesis is on the diagnosis of the acute coronary syndrom itself. The theoretical part describes in more detail therapeutic hypothermia and nursing care of patients after cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Very important chapter is also introduction of a patient on whom is concentrated the nursing care in the practical part of the thesis, and presentation of his hospitalization. The practical part deals with creating, planning and implementation of the nursing care by means of biomedical model and nursing process. The practical and theoretical part alike is divided to several chapters. The main one is focused on nursing anamnesis with...
Possibilities of organ protection after global ischemia during cardiac arrest.
Mudrochová, Hana ; Ošťádal, Petr (advisor) ; Rokyta, Richard (referee) ; Malý, Jiří (referee)
Successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation is the first step to rescue life during cardiac arrest. High mortality even after successful restoration of spontaneous circulation is substantially caused by patophysiological process associated with ischemia-reperfusion injury and it is widely called post-cardiac arrest syndrome (PCAS). There are many patophysiological mechanisms involved in the development and progress of this syndrom; the key role seems to play oxidative stress, triggering the activation cascade of systemic inflammatory reaction. In our study we have tested different possibilities of influencing the post-cardiac arrest syndrom. In the first experimental study we have compared the effect of mild therapeutic hypothermia with controlled normothermia on PCAS in a porcine model of cardiac arrest. In the second study we have compared in the same model the protective effects of mild therapeutic hypothermia, administration of nitric oxide and ischemic postconditioning. Results of the first experiment have revealed that mild therapeutic hypotermia is superior in the resuscitability, maintenance of blood pressure, oxidative stress suppression and organ damage protection than controlled normothermia. In the second experiment we have shown that neither nitric oxide administration, nor ischemic...
The selected acute conditions in pediatrics from the point of view of paramedic
HANOUSKOVÁ, Kateřina
The bachelor thesis deals with the problems of states which can immediately endanger the child's life and are solved in pre-hospital emergency care by emergency squads including paramedics. They must possess the appropriate knowledge and experience. Without their early and effective help, a child patient could experience irreversible health changes or even die. The thesis is divided into theoretical and research part. The theoretical part deals with the differences between pediatric and adult patients because by providing pre-hospital emergency care it is important to think constantly about the fact that a child is not a small adult and that taking care of him or her carries its specifics which must be respected. Furthermore, this part deals with selected acute conditions in paediatrics from the point of view of a paramedic. The research part comprises of a quantitative research based on interviews containing 24 questions and the research group consisted of 12 paramedics performing their profession in the South Bohemian region. It includes analysis of acquired data and their evaluation. The goal of the work is to map the awareness of paramedics about the issue of selected acute states in paediatrics.
The Awareness of South Bohemian Public about Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Mikšíčková, Věra ; Vrábelová, Petra (advisor) ; Maffei Svobodová, Ludmila (referee)
INTRODUCTION: One of the most frequent causes of sudden death in Europe is a sudden cardiac arrest. First above all providing urgent cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is necessary for rescue of life. One of preconditions of successful resuscitation is its early start and knowledge of basic techniques. The level of knowledge of urgent resuscitation techniques, its proper performance, skillfulness and willingness of non-professional rescuers can decide about next life of people affected by sudden cardiac arrest. Every minute that the resuscitation is not performed a chance of survival of people affected with sudden cardiac arrest decreases by 10 - 12%. GOALS AND METHODOLOGY: The main research problem was an evaluation of the level of knowledge of techniques of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation with public in South Bohemia. The next goal was to map the interest of the public in South Bohemia in education in CPR. For working out of the empirical part the method of quantitative research was chosen in the form of a questionnaire which I made. The questionnaire contained 35 questions. The research sample was made of nonselected public in South Bohemia and the choice of informants was random. The collection of data was performed by direct questioning of passers-by in streets, shopping centres, in towns and...
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
DOLEJŠÍ, Andrea
This bachelor thesis is dedicated to a sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). A theoretical part of the thesis describes the history and the latest findings about SIDS, its causes and risk factors. It also summarizes midwifery education within the prevention of SIDS and cardiopulmonary resuscitation of infants. A research part of the bachelor thesis deals with the awareness of SIDS and resuscitation of newborns and infants among women. Two research goals were set in advance. The first aim of the bachelor thesis was to determine a level of SIDS knowledge of pregnant women and mothers of children up to 1 year of age. The second objective was to determine a level of knowledge of pregnant women and mothers of children up to the age of 1 on basic resuscitation of newborns and infants. At the same time, two hypotheses were established. Hypothesis 1: There are differences in SIDS awareness among primiparas and secundiparas women. Hypothesis 2: There are differences in awareness of newborn and infant resuscitation between primiparas and secondiparas. The research was conducted through a social network, using a survey of 170 pregnant women and mothers of children under the age of 1 year. In order to achieve the set goals and verify the hypotheses, a quantitative method was chosen. Anonymous questionnaire survey was conducted in order to collect data. Results of the research are graphically processed and supplemented with a verbal commentary. Verification of hypotheses was performed using a chi-squared statistical test. By analyzing the data obtained, the hypotheses were confirmed by the statistical chi-squared test. Null hypotheses were tested against alternative hypotheses at 5% significance. The chi-squared value of the test was compared with the signifikance level. For hypothesis 1, the chi-squared test was determined 0.6%, and for hypothesis 2 the result was 1%. The results show that primiparas are more informed about SIDS and problems of newborn/infant resuscitation than secondiparas. Sufficient awareness of SIDS was found within 34% of the primiparas and 30% of the secondiparas. Sufficient awareness of newborn/infant resuscitation was demonstrated by 23% of the primiparas and 12% of the secondiparas. This bachelor thesis may serve as an information material for students of health care field and midwifery, or as a presentation at a specialized seminar.
