Use of diminutives in the internet discussions regarding the gender of the speaker

This bachelor thesis compares the use of diminutives among men and women in the computer-mediated communication. It contains a theorethical summary of basic grammatical rules regarding the formation of diminutives, the semantic aspects of their use in an informal language (with emphasis on expressivity) and an overview of the socioliguistic theories within the framework of gender differences. The research section is based on a sociolinguistic study of this particular subject. The aim is to find the most significant differences of the word choices and the frequency of use of diminutives of men and women and possibly a reason for it. Analysis of the Internet Discussions According to Goffman's Theory of Focused Interaction

This bachelor thesis examines the phenomenon of internet discussions on Facebook. The starting theoretical framework for the thesis is Erving Goffman's focused interaction and the principles of fun in games theory in terms of focused interaction. The aim of this study is to find out whether the elements of fun occur in the researched environment and what form they take up. Research units were specified as discussions on the official Facebook websites of chosen online news portals. These discussions are embodied in the comments section below shared political article. 70 research units were subjected to conversation analysis. The results of the analysis show that most of the examined internet discussions can be determined as focused interaction and the elements of the game are strongly present in the discussions. The real situation in a virtual environment, however, differs from the way game elements manifest themselves in the face-to-face interaction, in which Goffman defined the concept of focused interaction originally. This work also deals with the situation of the participants leaving the interaction. Construction of Role and Importance of Non-profit Sector in Czech Public On-line Sphere

How is the role of non-profit organizations constructed in the Czech online sphere? This diploma thesis tries to answer this question based on a content analysis of articles in the six most-read online newswebsites in the Czech Republic and users' discussions connected to them in 2015-2019. The theoretical basis of the work is the media construction of reality, which the author tries to apply in practice to the topic of the non-profit sector using the method of media framing. Qualitative content analysis in the research succeeded in revealing four main frameworks by which Czech online news views non-profit organizations. The four frameworks also emerged from the analysis of user discussions under the articles. The comparison of these findings provided the author with the opportunity to find out how the discussant brings diversity to the Czech non-profit sector's media representation. The thesis's conclusion is devoted to evaluating the most critical research findings, which the author incorporated into the context of existing academic research of media representation of non-profit organizations in the news. Structures of Public Communication at the News Server

This thesis has an aim to bring theoretical and empirical knowledge, which can be used to improve quality of multi-agent based modelling of public opinion. In the theoretical part is introduced the analytical sociology as methodological basis and the theory of the public opinion process as substantive basis. Based on these theories is defined the aim of the empirical work: explore the stability of communication structures leading to emergence of mutual awareness of actors in the public debate. For the research are used news comments and its rating by other users from the news server iDNES.cz. The data are analyzed using social network analysis. It is revealed that a number of characteristics is applicable to multi-agent model. At the same time work brings interesting findings about the internet discussion and public communication. The main empirical finding is that despite large turn-over of discussing individuals, communication structures remain stable over time.

e-Word Of Mouth Evaluation of Czech banks on Facebook and web comments

The diploma thesis analyzes internet discussions and Facebook sites that relate to banks and banking products. This analysis has been prepared for the potential value for marketing purposes, but also for other users outside the field of marketing. The main objective is to propose a regularly administered overview containing metrics and characteristics, which would provide information about the current status of the topics that were discussed at the monitored data sources. At first are described the methods of marketing research regarding to the possibility of obtaining data based from Internet discussions. Next are described the intermediate objectives. The base is description of downloading data from the mentioned sources. There have been identified two web pages and Facebook profiles of five banks, which are the data sources. Another objective is to create Java programs for downloading data and storing them in Elasticsearch. This data is enriched by sentiment analysis of users' comments. The main objective is based on defined metrics and characteristics that will be displayed. Subsequently, the data are analyzed using the proposed visualization in the application Kibana. The resulting data are interpreted, and there is designed a form of their distribution, which is the main objective of this work. The contribution of this work is the description of the processing of data that can be obtained from the website and public Facebook profiles with emphasis on their content, and their further enrichment and finally data visualization designed for wide range of audience.
