Hessová, Lenka ; Bendl, Stanislav (advisor) ; Syřiště, Ivo (referee) ; Kraus, Blahoslav (referee)
The dissertation, in the form of qualitative historical research, follows the development of institutional care for at-risk children. The focus is on a detailed description of eight innovative projects created at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. It stresses the inspirational overlapping of the described projects in the context of contemporary Czech etopedic practice. This historical period was chosen as it was a time of all kinds of experiments. Looking back and describing successful solutions to care issues in the past can contribute to the current discussion on the effective form of institutional care in Czechia. The dissertation focuses on Junior Republic (USA), Ford Republic (USA), Little Commonwealth (UK), Baumgarten (Austria), Boys Town (USA), House of Orphans (Poland), Gorky Colony (Soviet Union), and Summerhill (Great Britain) - as these models are only briefly described in Czech scholarly literature. To achieve its goals the research relies on the combination of a direct method and a multiple case study. For triangulation, various primary data sources are used. Topics that have emerged in the past relate to the present situation via Standards of Quality of Care (2015), with 17 inspection reports from residential institutions caring for at-risk children, and 17 annual educational...

Drugs and addictive substances in a selected diagnostic institution.
HELLEROVÁ, Kristýna
In the Czech Republic, institutional care is not given enough attention to the issue of drugs in adolescents, nor is this issue mapped out. In the case of children in institutional settings, we assume an increased incidence of risk behavior, including addictive substance abuse. Children get to the diagnostic institute mainly because of various educational problems, such as high absenteeism, offenses such as theft and finally addictive substance abuse. The aim of staying in a diagnostic institute is to make a child a comprehensive diagnosis and based on it to decide where the child will be placed after the stay in the diagnostic institute. Theoretical part is focused on the main terminology regarding drugs and institutional care. In the practical part, the focus is on research, which has two main topics regarding research questions. Those topics are precautions and their effectiveness in selected Children Diagnostic Institute and the most frequently used drugs in this Institute. The aim is to map the use of addictive substances and precautions in selected Children Diagnostic Institute. The goal is achieved using qualitative research, with data being obtained using a semi-structured interview. The research file is the staff of the selected diagnostic institute. Purposive sampling was used in this research. The data is evaluated using grounded theory. Through the interviews it was possible to conclude that the selected Children Diagnostic Institute measures are enough and effective, but the problem is very limited control. Workers have no right to test their children for drugs, resulting in very frequent situations where the child is under the influence of the drug and the worker has to decide whether to call the police to test a child or not. It was also found that THC, alcohol, nicotine, and Methamphetamine are the most commonly used drugs in selected Children Diagnostic Institution, regardless of age. Children at primary school are also experienced with these drugs and are placed in a diagnostic institute. The benefit for the practice is the resulting pilot research for a broader study of substance abuse in children and adolescents in institutional care.

Jaklová, Veronika ; Dobiášová, Karolína (advisor) ; Čampulková, Jitka (referee)
This bachelor thesis elaborates preparation of children from children's homes for their independent life as well as subsequent support after their leave from institution, all from perspective of experts. Eventhough problematic of children growing up in institutional care seems to be a relatively often discussed topic, the period of leaving is in practice severely unrecognized by the system. This thesis thus focuses on particular involved actors, their position and role in the system, and on specific areas representing threats while leaving the institution. The issue is viewed from the perspective of bottom-up theory of policy implementation and theory of emerging childhood. Empirical part represents the results of qualitative research, which was conducted with the experts using method of semi-structured interviews.

The institutional setting of care about female domestic violence victims from the perspective of practice
Šveda, Ondřej ; Dobiášová, Karolína (advisor) ; Hondlíková, Kristýna (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the possible breakout points for women who have become victims of domestic violence. It surveys the possibilities of institutional care for these women and then submits this care to their criticism. With the help of domestic violence victims, the author tries to detect outages in the care system and explains the possible way out of this problem. In the theoretical part of the bachelor thesis, the reader familiarizes himself with the typology of domestic violence and with the basic theories in the context of which the victims of the harassment are being seen. The very merit of this work is the deep semi-structured interviews through which the author seeks after the outages of institutional care. Closer are described in the practical part. When thoroughly analysing the data obtained, the most frequent problems are encountered, not in the wording of the documents themselves, but in the meetings of workers professionally called liner officers.
Phases of social work with clients with Alzheimer's dinase
Šuláková, Dagmar ; Krahulcová, Beáta (advisor) ; Nová, Monika (referee)
In this thesis, "Stages of social work with clients with Alzheimer's disease", I focused on the analysis of the most effective stages of social work. I found out that most respondents prefer a domestic informal care, corresponding to the stages of provided social work and unconditional acceptance of the patient. The sick person requires a sensitive holistic approach, accepting his individuality and ensuring dignity in all stages of the disease. The thesis was structured on the theoretical part, based on the findings of scientific literature dealing with the symptomatology and processes of Alzheimer's disease, characterized by basic treatment and care approaches. The theoretical part is followed by an own joint investigation, divided in a qualitative and a quantitative approach. The qualitative approach is based on a detailed case study which uses the methods of observation and interviews. Anonymous questionnaires were used for the quantitative method. The obtained data were summarized and analyzed. Due to the lack of data I concluded that the considered results can be obtained as irrelevant.

Pekárková, Mariana ; Kolářová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Hasmanová Marhánková, Jaroslava (referee)
The thesis will be devoted to individuals having a family member with Alzheimer disease. However, the mainstay will not be the disease as a whole, but caregivers and closest as themselves. The focus will be put on their memories and especially emerged relationship between caregivers, closest and caretakers. The main aim of the work is to catch the key moments having an influence to following solutions of situations and connotation, connected to dementia and as well as subsequent reflection and its own legitimation of the decision to place them into the institution unit. I would like to take into consideration the medical discourse, influencing the form of the right opinions about " properly" provided care and construction of the people with AD.
