Comparative Analysis of Physical Polygon Model Scaling for Cyber Ranges
Holasová, Eva ; Kuchař, Karel ; Fujdiak, Radek
This research paper offers an analysis of model scales for operational technologies (OT) cyber ranges, focusing on applications like airports, smart buildings, and factories within constrained spaces. We evaluate seven standard modeling scales (G-scale to Z-scale) against criteria such as space occupation, technology integration, prop availability, transportability, realism, durability, and maintenance. Our quantitative assessment identifies the most appropriate scale for cyber-range physical polygons, balancing model size with functionality and practicality. This work provides valuable insights for creating realistic and effective cyber-physical training environments in OT cybersecurity.
Sandwich Insert Design of the Formula Student Monocoque
Velfl, Tomáš ; Šplíchal, Jan (referee) ; Löffelmann, František (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is devoted to the insert joints and wheel suspension attachments on the racing frame of a Formula Student vehicle. First, research was done to obtain the necessary knowledge on the subject. Then the external loads stressing the joints were experimentally and computationally determined. Before starting the actual design of the attachments, the effect of introducing local loads into the sandwich structure of the monocoque was investigated, firstly on small calibration samples. The first phase of testing was to verify the failure mechanisms, the interaction between the different components of the composite sandwich and to test different attachment designs using different materials. Based on the data obtained, the material libraries were refined, and computational models were developed and extended by parametrization. Thus, in the next step, the final designs of the individual suspension points meeting the predetermined objectives were iteratively created. During validation tests, the functionality of the design and sufficient oversizing were demonstrated. Technologies such as CT scanning were also used. The results were evaluated to determine further testing options and further improvements to the current solution.
Production of aluminum castings using metal inserts in the technology of casting into ceramic shells
Straka, Pavel ; Zemčík, Ladislav (referee) ; Krutiš, Vladimír (advisor)
The thesis is focused on manufacturing of aluminium castings with inserts by the hybrid investment casting technology. Three measures were proposed to avoid shell cracking caused by thermal expansion of insert. It seems that the covering of insert with a wax is the most efective solution, becasue after dewaxing a gap is formed, which allows insert to dilate. The other solution was based on change of molochite sand to quartz, which has a higher thermal expansion. The last mean to prevent the shell from cracking was adjustment of dewaxing cycle from shock to gradual. Ceramic shell was heated from room temperature to 650 °C. This solution did not avoid shell cracking. Then the simulation of shell heating, pouring of metal and the solidification was made. The information obtained by the manufacturing of experimental casting was used to prototype casting of impeller.
Analysis of composite sandwich panel under conditions simulating placement on a rocket carrier
Král, Martin ; Horníková, Jana (referee) ; Majer, Zdeněk (advisor)
This work deals with composite sandwich panels, which are currently used as supporting structures for satellites. This type of panel contains an aluminum honeycomb core and two thin laminate coatings, reinforced with carbon fibers. Laminate sandwich panel coatings offer an alternative to conventional aluminum coatings, which is advantageous mainly due to the reduction of weight and increase of the flexural stiffness of the panels. The work is a parametric study of mechanical properties for several variants of the coating of sandwich panels. These are laminate coatings, differing in the orientation of the fibers in the individual layers, as well as an aluminum alloy coating. The study is divided into two parts. The first part examines the deformation-stress response of a sandwich panel, which is simply supported at the edges and loaded with pressure. The response calculation is performed using FEM and verified by the method of sum of an infinite series. The second part investigates the deformation-stress response of the joint, (node) of two sandwich panels, which is loaded by random vibrations, aimed at simulating the mechanical environment of the rocket carrier during the takeoff of the launch vehicle. The response is calculated using FEM and verified by an experiment on a vibrating stool for a selected variant of the laminate coating of sandwich panels. The results of the work can be used for the design of baffle of the X-ray imaging device (SXI), which is part of the equipment of the space satellite of the SMILE project.
Construction of miniature turning tools with insert
Balhar, David ; Slaný, Martin (referee) ; Zemčík, Oskar (advisor)
The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to design a set of miniature turning tools with insert. Elaboration is divided into four chapters. In the first chapter we can find research, which deals with the issue of the construction of turning tools. In the second chapter appears survey produced miniature types and their uses. The most important is the third chapter, because it deals with the main output, and the actual design of selected types of turning tools. The three of turning knives were selected, which are reviewed in the fourth chapter, both technically and economically.

On the testing of new cutting inserts performance
Kašpar, David ; Dvořák, Jaromír (referee) ; Píška, Miroslav (advisor)
The thesis is focused on bar peeling method which is used to eliminate surface defects of rolled and forged cross-section circular products. The theoretic part deals with bar peeling processes. In the practical part are performed short-term tests of current types of inserts, evaluation and identification of their shortcomings. Short-term tests of new types of inserts are also performed and evaluated. For the final testing in operating conditions, which is then performed are recommended the best inserts. Suggestions for improving production are also included.

Modern cutting cemented carbide tools
Štefek, Jaromír ; Kalivoda, Milan (referee) ; Píška, Miroslav (advisor)
This thesis deals with modern cutting cemented carbide tools. In the first section are stated several basic innovations already used tools for basic machining operations, which is turning, milling and drilling. It continues with analysis of single materials for production of cemented carbides, non coated as well as coated and with comparing of their properties. There are listed the basic cutting properties of the cutting tools after that. The penultimate point of the work is optimization of the basic machining operations, namely roughing and finishing, for a given application, which is in this case turning on the lamp stand. Finally, everything is summed up and evaluated in the conclusion.
