Economic utilization of industrial structures with focus on railway stations

The thesis "Economic utilization of industrial structures with focus on railway stations" analyses all possibilities of sustainable use of industrial buildings with a focus on specific example of the Ţiţkov freight station. Based on the general characteristics of both industrial heritage and brownfields are defined steps which are necessary for the protection of valuable locations without present use. The whole process is described in the context of positive and negative externalities. The most important problem is financing the revitalization of problematic objects. The practical part of the thesis describes the previous issues connected to the Ţiţkov freight station including major studies of its potential utilization.
Písek Malt house - A study on economical usage of industrial architecture

This Bachelor Thesis focuses on the issue of economic use of industrial buildings. Having defined industrial architecture theoretically, specific aspects of its historic preservation are mentioned. This thesis analyses approach to protection and conversion of industrial monuments in the Czech Republic, reasons for renewal of industrial constructions, and ways of their new employment. The practical part examines an industrial building, Malt house in the city of Písek particularly, which nowadays serves as a seat of a cultural organisation. This Thesis researches the history of the building and its original use, and the course of its reconstruction for the purpose of new use. Moreover, besides financial burden of the conversion, its profit for local citizens in social and economic terms is assessed, and further renewal of the Malt house, which is currently employed only from one third, is considered.
The Economic potential of immovable industrial heritage and its utilization

The focus of this bachelor thesis is on the current topic of the utilization of immovable industrial monuments in the Czech Republic. The aim of this work is a detailed analysis and evaluation of the condition and the utilization of these industrial monuments in the Czech Republic. The foundation of this work is a theoretical definition, categorization and separation of industrial buildings. Furthermore the exploration of history, present status and extent of the industrial heritage in the Czech Republic as well as its cultural heritage protection. Eventually the research will present the economic potential and possibilities of new utilization of these industrial monuments in general and also in detail using specific examples. An integral part of this research will be application of this theme on specific immovable industrial monument. This will be completed with regards to assessment of its condition and utilization of all obtained findings from already revitalized industrial buildings.
Issues of economical utilization of industrial monuments

Thesis is focused on the phenomenon of industrial heritage. It deals with socio-cultural impact of industrialization on 19th century. It defines and classifies tangible evidence of those times. Supported by relevant literature it widens the knowledge of the theme of industrial heritage. Other main objective of the thesis is to define the concept of "industrial" in relation with arts and aesthetics of industrial heritage, proving the possibility of pure aesthetic contemplation by industrial themes and later applying of these findings in new economical use of abandoned structures. Apart from poll results there are also some photographs included which provide an insight on author's own aesthetic view on industrial heritage.
Industrial heritage as an activ element of tourism

This study is focused on the relationships between tourism and industrial heritage. One of the main issues discussed in this study is the definition of industrial heritage from the economic perspective, as it has been considered as problematic task. The study is concerned with positive social-economic impacts of industrial heritage on its surroundings by using particular tools such as destination management. Moreover, the study investigates the opportunities of improving the level of regional development by highlighting the cooperation between tourism and industrial heritage spots as leading activities to creation of touristic tours. The objective of this study is to prepare the effective proposal of "Industrial heritage tour in Pardubice region", to define weaknesses and opportunities in the tourism industry in this region and to propose the solution in this tour.
The effect of a cultural institution on the social and cultural development within it´s neighbourhood

The Bachelor's Thesis focuses on the possibility of a direct link between the social and cultural development within the neighbourhood of a cultural institution and the development of the institution itself. The evaluation is based on the comparison among the elements which have appeared in connection with two iconic cultural institutions -- Tate Modern and Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. The elements are attractiveness for the international visitors, the amount of public income, the conversion of industrial heritage, participation in strategic regeneration plan of the area and the clustering of creative enterprises. These elements are applied on the evaluation of a link between the current development of a postindustrial quarter Dolní Holešovice and the existence of DOX Centre for Contemporary Art.
A usage of industrial heritage in tourism development on case of local railways Jindřichův Hradec

The target of this bachelor thesis was to analyze the supply of services provided in a district of company JHMD, a. s. This company operates one of the last narrow gauge railways operating in our country. They are the significant technical monuments. These industrial heritages contribute to development of tourism in this area.Based on the marketing analysis was proposed a new product, innovated currently offered products by travel industry, and determined the profile of typical traveller.The profile of the typical traveller went out from questionnaire analysis.
Use of industrial buildings for art gallery and exhibition

The aim of this work is to analyze and evaluate procedures leading to the regeneration of industrial heritage and to compare some examples of conversions to gallery and exhibition spaces. The comparison of this adaptations is given by examples from several European countries and Czech Republic with sufficiently broad basis of informations. Work explains the terminology used in the field of the industrial architecture and the regeneration of brownfields. The work briefly asseses the physical state and extent of industrial heritage in the Czech Republic, its preservation and protection. For each state (UK, Spain, Fance and Czech) will be briefly described the basic international and national legal framework of the monuments (industrial heritage) care.
The importance of industrial heritage and the possibility of its conversion for cultural purposes

Bachelor thesis is devoted unused industrial premises and possibilities of their adaptation to a new post. The first part focuses on the value and potential of industrial heritage. It is compared the negative impacts of unused brownfield sites in the city with a positive contribution to their reuse. It is considered a possibility to use technical monuments as a seat of cultural organizations in the second part. The text mentions several international examples of this type of conversion. Subsequently, on the basis of mutual comparison of several Prague industrial sites used by cultural organizations have evaluated the pros and cons of their coexistence.
Questions of the Economic Usage of Industrial Architecture Monuments

The subject of this thesis is an analysis of the economic usage of Prague's former industrial buildings as centers for contemporary art. The theoretical part of this thesis will focus on the delimitation of the term Brownfield and the characteristics of it. Further, the Czech Republic's approach to industrial heritage preservation will be reviewed and compared to approaches in a few chosen foreign countries. As well, this thesis contains a theoretical approach to the construction of centers for contemporary art in former industrial buildings in which the criteria for their classification will be established. Two Prague art centers, DOX and Meet Factory, will be analyzed in the practical part of this thesis. This thesis will review approaches to the reconversion of former industrial buildings and their new usage by cultural institutions. The aim of this thesis is to describe concrete institutions and to illustrate the achievement for the local community in using the buildings.
