Phrases in children's literature

The bachelor thesis examines the relationship between phraseology and children's literature. The main aim of this thesis is to show how phrases enrich literary texts and support the linguistic and emotional development of young readers. The thesis is structured in two main parts. The theoretical part begins with an overview of lexicology basics, continues with definitions of key concepts of phraseology and its history, and concludes with a discussion of children's literature, illuminating various aspects of its development and specifics. The practical part focuses on the analysis of phrases in six selected works for children and young people, and then illustrates how the occurrence and use of phrases evolves and adapts depending on the age of the text and the age of the addressees.
Knowledge of Idioms in Basic School Pupils

This thesis focuses on phraseology and its integration into the teaching of Czech language and literature in primary school. The aim is to present a detailed analysis of a research investigation focused on the knowledge of idioms among pupils of a selected primary school. In the theoretical part of the thesis, firstly, important concepts in the field of phraseology are defined - definition, characteristics and functions of idioms, their updating. Subsequently, it is observed how the phraseology curriculum is integrated into the Framework Educational Programme for Primary Education and the School Educational Programme of the selected primary school. Furthermore, a detailed analysis of the phraseology curriculum in selected textbooks of Czech language and literature for primary schools is presented. This thesis presents previous research on the knowledge and understanding of phraseology and presents their results. The practical part of the thesis deals with a research investigation in which pupils of the second stage of the selected primary school and pupils of the fourth and fifth grades of the first stage of the same school took part. Animal species in Czech and Danish phraseology

and key words The final thesis discuss idiomatic expressions, which includes words related to animal kingdom. An essential point of the whole thesis was creation of a list of all relevant Danish idioms. There was found their Danish definitions as well and subsequently also their Czech equivalent words. Equivalent degree was found by all words. The thesis is divided into theoretical part and practical part. The first one describes idiomacity and phraseology as a whole and compares Danish and Czech works on this topic. Other subjects, which is needed in the practical part, is discussed. Deep analysis of the list of the idioms is the content of the practical part of the thesis. Main topics is perception of animals in Czech and Danish, degree of their mutual equivalency and some other specific subjects related to animal idioms. Animals in the Czech and Portuguese phraseology

This diploma thesis deals with the Portuguese and Czech idioms which contain names of animals and of the parts of their bodies. The initial part of the thesis discusses the theoretical aspects of phraseology regarding the differences in the approach of the Czech and Portuguese linguists. Based on the theoretical platform, the practical part is dedicated to the analysis of the idioms. The basis for the practical part is constituted by the extensive list of Portuguese and Czech idioms, which are analyzed from various points of view, but always with the objective to find differences between Czech and Portuguese as well as the traces which the two languages have in common. Apart from other aspects, the practical part is dedicated to the research of the equivalence between the Czech and Portuguese idioms, to the analysis of the chosen groups of expressions and to the etymology of some of them. This thesis is focused on the analysis of phrasemes and idioms in Spanish and Czech journalistic texts. In its theoretical part, we discuss the definition of phraseology and idioms as linguistic disciplines within Czech and Spanish linguistics. The practical part contains a sample corpus of phrases and idioms based on selected excerpts from newspaper articles during a specific time period. These linguistic units are divided into thematic groups by their base words, their meaning is explained and formal and substantive similarities between Czech and Spanish are observed. We do not aim at presenting a set of idioms of the language, only to point out the currently used idioms in journalistic texts. The comparison of semantic similarity between Dutch and Czech idioms containing a part of body, focused on "hand"

(English) The aim of the thesis is ascertain and determine the level of equivalent Dutch somatic phrase units and Czech counterparts. At first the theoretical part is generally focused on a theory of phrasal idioms, the next part is dealing with phraseology such as a linguistic discipline. A following part of the thesis includes a theoretical base for dealing with an analytical part of the work which is focused on a term of equivalent. In the analytical part is used method of German linguistic Otto Kade on its base are 62 somatic phrase units with component "hand" divided into three categories. Van Dale Idioomwoordenboek (1999) is used such as primary source for a selection of phrase units which are divided according to the level of equivalence: a) full equivalent phrasal idioms, b) partly equivalent phrasal idioms c) phrasal idioms without equivalent. The result of the survey indicates a high level of a semantic equivalency, some of partial variations and concordance in a level of a structural equivalency.
