A new generation of electronic cigarettes

The subject of the bachelor thesis Electronic cigarettes of the new generation is the research and comparison of two electronic cigarettes which use heated tobacco systems with regards to emitted particles. The subject of the experiments was the electronic cigarette I quit ordinary smoking (IQOS) and electronic cigarette GLO. For the purposes of this work an experimental track was designed in the Aerosol Research Laboratory at BUT FME where the emitted particles from electronic cigarettes mentioned above were measured using instruments Aerosol Particle Sizer 3321 and TSI SMPS 3936.

Health impact perceptions of alternative nicotine delivery systems among their users in the Czech Republic

Background: In the Czech Republic, there is over 2 million tobacco addicted people. However, it is difficult to get rid of this addiction unassisted, so some people switch to products with lower health risks. This bachelor's thesis deals with alternative nicotine products, especially heated tobacco and electronic cigarettes, and their impact on human health. Aims: The main aim of this study was to find out how users of nicotine products perceive the health effects on their body and whether they perceive a difference between conventional cigarettes, heated tobacco and electronic cigarettes. Furthermore, to map the use of alternative nicotine delivery products. Methods: Data were obtained in the form of quantitative research using a questionnaire survey. The questionnaire was developed on the basis of Google Forms. Subsequently, the data were transferred to MS Excel 365 and analyzed by means of methods of descriptive and analytical statistics. Results: 144 respondents took part in the survey a total of 180 respondents were approached, 36 respondents did not meet the required criteria. Of the 144 respondents, 67 were women (aged 18-75) and 77 were men (aged 18-75). Development of perceived use and use-related risks of electronic cigarettes, combustible tobacco and heated tobacco in czech adolescents

In my diploma thesis, I deal with description of the prevalence of use of twelve tobacco products in the population of Prague high school students. For these tobacco products, I am also investigating the differences in their use with regard to gender and type of school. Therefore, I am looking for differences in their use between girls and boys and between students of grammar schools and secondary vocational schools. In the most widely used products - combustible tobacco, electronic cigarettes without nicotine, electronic cigarettes with nicotine and heated tobacco, I also examine differences in the intention to use them in the future between girls and boys and between students of gymnasiums and secondary vocational schools. Furthermore, I deal with one of the most important determinants of smoking - the perceived harm of tobacco products and examine how the perceived harm of combustible tobacco, electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco affects their use and the intention to use them in the future by Prague adolescents. Use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco among primary school pupils in the Central Bohemian Region: a questionaire study

Background: Use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco is on the rise both in the world and Czech Republic. Aforementioned products are often presented as less harmfull alternatives to traditional cigarettes, but an addiction can occur to these products nevertheless. Such devices are furthermore very attractive for adolescent population, which is in high risk of developing an addiction. Objectives: The Main goal of the research is to describe user specifications and an attitude of fifteen-year-old students from the Central Bohemian Region to e-cigarettes and heated tobacco. The sub-goals consist of: describing the way target group use the devices (in terms of where and with whom), answering if the members of the target group owns their personal devices, and means of acquisition of such devices. Methods: The research was carried out through collecting quantitative data via online survey tool. The survey in physical form was also distributed between students of selected schools in Central Bohemian Region. 54 schools were approached with the survey in two waves. The relationship between personality traits and attitudes toward electronic cigarettes in adolescents

BAKALÁŘSKÁ PRÁCE The attitudes of adolecents towards e-cigarettes and tobacco Abstract In my bachelor thesis I deal with the attitudes of the czech adolescents (students of the first year of the the high school) to combustible cigarettes, electronic cigarettes and heated tabacco. I was interested especially in one concrete cognitive attitude - perceived risk of all mentioned products. The perceived risk of the electronic cigarette and of the heated tabacco I compared with the perceived risk of combustible cigarettes. My goal was also to find out whether the czech adolescents know how theese products function, since when it is possible to buy them and since when it is possible to use them. I aimed for finding out different predictors of percieved risk, such as gender, type of school and the knowledge of the certain product. I was also observing the relations between the perceived risk of the electronic cigarettes, the heated tabacco and the personal characteristics according to Big 5. Perception of heated tobacco products by generation Z

This bachelor thesis examines the perception of heated tobacco products by members of Generation Z. The first, theoretical, part aims to scrutinise the shopping behaviour and key characteristics of Generation Z. It then introduces the products of heated tobacco, the principle on which they function and possible health risks associated with their use. For the purposes and nature of this paper, it also emphasises the legislation and ethics codes, which deal with the issue of tobacco advertising. The work then focuses on the analysis of marketing strategies of specific brands of heated tobacco available in the Czech Republic - IQOS and glo. The second, practical, part examines the attitudes towards heated tobacco, using the methods of qualitative research in the form of semi-structured interviews. Researcher participants - members of Generation Z, aged 18 to 25, who have had previous experience with IQOS or Glo - answered questions about consumer behaviour, their motivation to use heated tobacco products and perceptions of marketing strategies. The work does not draw any generalisable conclusions but provides insight into the thinking and opinions of Generation Z.

Mapping patterns of IQOS and GLO heated tobacco products usage: an online questionnaire study

Background: In recent years, novel heated tobacco products such as IQOS or glo, which began to appear on the Czech market about three years ago, gained popularity. The device is visually appealing in which, unlike regular cigarettes, tobacco is not burned but heated to a temperature of 350 řC. There are several foreign studies on how these tobacco heating products are used, but there is a lack of data on this phenomenon in Czech Republic. Aims: The main aim of this study was to describe patterns of use of heated tobacco products among adult tobacco users in the Czech Republic. Partial aims of the study were to find out what are the motives for using heating tobacco products, what is the nature of use, i.e. the time of use, daily consumption of fillings, and if there is any change in habits of ordinary smoking. Furthermore, the aim was to map in which situations heated tobacco products are used and how the users take care of the equipment.
