Actual State and Potential of Renewable Sources Utilization in the EU
Kubín, David ; Radil, Lukáš (referee) ; Macháček, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis named Actual State and potential of renewable sources utilization in the EU offers a detailed summary of the current and future utilization of renewable resources in each member state of the European Union. The opening chapters briefly introduce the term renewable resources and the legislation relating to this issue. The following chapter is devoted to a detailed background research of actual renewable energy utilization in all twenty seven member states of the European Union. The countries are ranked by their dates of accession to the Union in ascending order, in each chapter alphabetically. All information and data are obtained from reliable sources such as annual energy reports of ministries or institutions which are concerned with energy issues. This chapter contains a great amount of charts and tables taken from annual reports and which are revised for the needs of this thesis. The chapter named Potential of renewable energy utilization in the EU offers an insight into the assumed future utilization of renewable resources up to the year 2020. This chapter draws from so-called National renewable energy action plans (NREAP) in which each member state presents its plan leading to higher renewable sources utilization in the near future. The reader is therefore able to familiarize with plans concerning renewable sources in each member state. The chapter named Complex evaluation familiarizes with some pros and cons concerning renewable sources and their utilization. Further the author presents his point of view on renewable sources and some recommendation leading to a better integration of renewable sources into energetics.
System Proposal for the Use of Low-potential Heat
Kučera, Roman ; Bartoň, Jan (referee) ; Mastný, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the problematics of a low-potential heat from the energetics point of view. It also deals with the sources and subsequent use of the low-potential heat. First of all, the thesis mentions the origin of these sources and also describes where they can be found. Also the technologies, that are able to utilize this heat, like heat pumps and solar collectors, are mentioned in this part of the thesis. In its next part, the bachelor thesis deals with use of the waste heat for heating and production of electrical energy. In the last part, the thesis presents the project that introduces a specific concept of the system for object heating from the waste heat.
Specification of the geothermic model in the environs of several selected boreholes
Čápová, Lucie ; Dědeček, Petr (advisor) ; Procházka, Martin (referee)
With the advances in research of the Hot Dry Rock environment and Enhanced Geothermal Systems, geothermal energy is soon going to compete with other unconventional energy resources in Europe where Germany and France are pushing the research ahead. In the Czech Republic, the geothermal exploration borehole drilled in Litoměřice in 2006 - 2007 provided information that contributed greatly to the understanding of geothermic conditions in the country. In addition to Litoměřice, two other areas have been recently subject to geothermal exploration: Semily and Liberec. These three areas have been studied in detail in this Master's thesis to assess their geothermal potential. Information on the geology of the selected areas was gathered from numerous scientific papers and reports and was compared with information from geological maps and boreholes. On the basis of this information, geological sections of the area of Litoměřice and Semily were compiled. Drill core samples from five boreholes from the geological units in the areas under investigation were collected and measured using the Lippmann & Rauen Thermal Conductivity Scanner. Thermal conductivity of geological units inferred in the basement but not intersected in the boreholes was estimated on the basis of values presented in literature. Finally,...
Možnosti využití obnovitelných zdrojů energie v agrárním sektoru
Varha, Natalia
The bachelor thesis elaborates an overview of the use and application of renewable energy sources in the agrarian sector, focusing on the Czech Republic. It also deals with designed model example of a photovoltaic power plant for the farm and it´s economic evaluation.
Possibilities of hydraulic fracturing in geothermal energy exploitation
Pokorný, Jakub ; Fischer, Tomáš (advisor) ; Horálek, Josef (referee)
Hydraulic stimulation is a technique used to increase the permeability of reservoir formation by creation of new and connection of existing cracks. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to collect and explain the basic principles of continuum mechanics and fundamentals of fluid hydraulics that are an integral part of the overall understanding of the issue of stimulation and its later more detailed study. After a general introduction, these findings are put into context in terms of mechanism of rock fracturing and fluid flow in the emerging stimulated geothermal systems. This thesis is completed by placing the example of geothermal project Groß Schönebeck from the start of stimulation to the final hydraulic tests, which were carried out with the aim of assessing the efficiency of fracture permeability enhancement. State-of-the-art and perspectives of geothermal energy utilization in Iceland
Pantůčková, Klára ; Dědeček, Petr (advisor) ; Jiráková, Hana (referee)
This thesis focuses mainly on the Iceland area and deals with the geographical and geological conditions within the context of geothermal energy. The thesis also focuses on history of Iceland, past and current utilization, tries to summarize basic types of acquisition and evaluates advantages and disadvantages of geothermal energy. The end of the thesis focuses on the latest projects, which interfere in the nearest future. Especially, the thesis is concerned with the IDDP project, which aims to drill into unknown conditions close to the magma chamber.

Geophysical survey for deep geothermal energy exploitation at the site Nova Paka
Karousová, Magda ; Karous, Miloš (advisor) ; Kobr, Miroslav (referee)
Title: Geophysical survey for deep geothermal energy exploitation at the site Nova Paka Author: Magda Karousová Supervisor: Prof. RNDr. Miloš Karous, DrSc. Supervisor's e-mail address: karous@geonika.com The topic of this thesis is a literature search of geological, geophysical, and geothermal information about wider surroundings of the area of Nova Paka and a complete geophysical survey focused on mapping of deeper fault zones and verification of Permo-Carboniferous sediments thickness. The area has been preliminarily assessed as promising for the use of deep geothermal energy. It belongs to the south-western part of Krkonoše Piedmont Basin. The bedrock of the basin is formed by Proterozoic metamorphites. Heating of surrounding rocks by intrusions of local volcanics during the Younger Tertiary is considered important for geothermal applications. The cover of metamorphic bedrock by sediments may indicate accumulation of the heat from the bedrock at relatively shallow depths of several hundred meters. Geophysical measurements, namely reflection and refraction seismics, gravimetry and resistivity profiling identified two major fault zones of east-west and northwest-southeast direction. The interpretation of the data obtained by geophysical sounding methods, namely seismic reflection and vertical...
