A Comparison of a Performance of Different File Systems
Beňas, Petr ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (referee) ; Smrčka, Aleš (advisor)
The aim of this work is to compare the performance of common local filesystems used in GNU/Linux operating system. State-of-the-art filesystems together with existing benchmarks are described. The work also describes in detail the hardware used for performing benchmarks and the settings of the operating system. A tool for the analysis of benchmarks performed by the Iozone tool has been developed. Finally, the analysis and the discussion upon the results of Iozone and Postmark has been made.
Various File Systems Used on Different Storage Devices
Bortlová, Pavlína ; Krčma, Martin (referee) ; Lojda, Jakub (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with storing data on various storage devices, namely on the HDD, SSD, flash drives, SD cards. In the teoretical part are discussed principles of functions storage media and data storage structure through various file system. In the practical part was measured read and write speeds selected combinations of file systems (FAT, NTFS, XFS, ext4, btrfs, exFAT, JFFS, F2FS) and storage devices (HDD, SSD, flash drive, sd card).
Optimize the ext4 Unlink Process to Make Recovering Deleted Files Easier
Uhliarik, Luboš ; Peringer, Petr (referee) ; Vojnar, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis aims at changes of ext4 file system for optimizing unlink process and making undelete process easier. Part of the thesis descibes changes which were made in ext4 file system, including description of tool which was created as a part of this thesis for undeleting files. The thesis also includes description of tests which were used for testing modificated ext4 file system. In this thesis there are also described existing methods for undeleting deleted files, including all their advantages and disadvantages.
Forensic Analysis of Discs and Metadata under OS Linux
Kocnová, Jitka ; Rychlý, Marek (referee) ; Očenášek, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis is about forensic analysis of memory devices and their metadata. It's part is also an application for Linux system which focuses on restoring data from memory devices using EXT, UDF and ISO 9660 file systems; and also some examples for educational use. The application was written in the C++ language and restores files by searching for their start and end tags. The application was tested on real data and it was also compared with already existing similar applications. As a result, it was found out that the application is successful even if there is no chance to work with informations stored in journal file of EXT file system, that is used by some of the other programs the application was compared with.

HelenOS ext4 filesystem driver
Princ, František ; Děcký, Martin (advisor) ; Babka, Vlastimil (referee)
HelenOS is an experimental operating system based on microkernel. It's developed by people related to Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University in Prague. The present implementantion is prepared to support a scale of filesystems because of VFS abstraction, but actually only a few of filesystems are supported. Ext4 is modern filesystem, developed Linux kernel developers. The previous releases ext2 and especially ext3 are still very popular in many Linux distributions. Imple- mentation of ext2/3/4 filesystems can be also found in other unix-based operating systems, for example *BSD or OpenSolaris. The main goal of this thesis is to extend HelenOS operating system to support previously mentioned filesystems.
