Experiments with red and yellow dyes in chemistry education
Škutová, Vendula ; Petrželová, Simona (advisor) ; Stratilová Urválková, Eva (referee)
This work focuses on red and yellow dyes obtained from available foods and beverages. Food colouring enhances the attractiveness of products. The use of food dyes extracted from common foods, beverages and chemicals can enhance the attractiveness of lessons and emphasize the connection of chemistry to everyday life. A list of reactions of some red and yellow dyes was created and some school experiments, using these dyes, are included in this list. Some reactions of red and yellow dyes were experimentally verified in the laboratory and photographs of the colour changes were taken. Four teaching materials (worksheets) for grades 7 to 9 were created (Proč se barví potraviny?, Jak změřit pH bez pH papírků?, Syntetická a přírodní barviva, Einsteinova hádanka s barvivy) and their common topic is food colouring and dyes extracted from foods and drinks. These worksheets are used as tools for the pupils' work in the laboratory. There is also a methodological material for teachers which contains information about the materials needed to prepare, their relation to the curriculum documents of the Czech republic and the timing of the lesson. All four worksheets were tested in the classroom and improved based on pupils' feedback. Key words dyes in food, chemical experiment, didactic materials
Experimental teaching of natural history using PASCO measuring device
Kočovská, Renata ; Hanel, Lubomír (advisor) ; Andreska, Jan (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the topic of "The application of the PASCO measuring system in experimental Science teaching". It is focused on the support of this technology in lessons and it shows the usage of this system at secondary school. It concentrates on the use of the pupils' set PASCO Sensorium - a set of measuring probes, sensors and other accessories, at selected secondary schools during experimental teaching in Science. The theoretical part deals with the definition of the territory Frýdlantsko, physical geographic characteristics, and localities that were used for field experiments. It also explains properties and application of individual sensors associated with this system. It is a kind of a methodical aid for teachers of Science. The practical part of the work includes experiments worked out by the author. These experiments can be used for Science teaching in the classroom or for field research. It also includes a research relating to the use of this experimental system at selected secondary schools in Liberec Region. Keywords: experimental teaching, Pasco, aid, locality, measuring system
Drama in English Language Teaching
Fejfarová, Pavla ; Kasíková, Hana (advisor) ; Zajícová, Pavla (referee) ; Mothejzíková, Jarmila (referee)
The dissertation focuses on the possibilities of drama in English language teaching in the second stage of basic education. The objective was to contribute to the development of ELT methodology in the Czech environment and to try to critically define the possibilities of drama education as an approach to instruction in this field. The starting points of this dissertation are based on social constructivism, accent the principle of holistic learning, and stem from the demands for changes in education in connection with the curricular reform of the education system that is currently underway. Apart from a terminological analysis, the theoretical part of the dissertation also contains a detailed introduction to the teaching strategies of drama education and their application in English language teaching. The goal of the empirical part was to find the beliefs of a cohort of teachers from primary schools and of English Studies students at the Faculty of Education regarding the possibility of using drama in English language teaching. The research design was mixed and the research investigation was conducted at two levels, through a questionnaire-based survey and through experimental instruction. The methods of data collection and analysis included a questionnaire-based survey, a pre-test and a post-test,...
Experimental teaching technique of physics for primary schools with utilization of the system Pasco
MAREK, Jan
The thesis "Experimental physics education at secondary school using the Pasco system," deals with the support of digital technology in education and shows a new use of information systems at secondary schools. It is focused on the use of a specialized set of measuring probes, sensors and other accessories in the experimental classes. It also focuses on the use of these devices in selected elementary schools in chosen subjects. The entire work will be written within the meaning of guide for physics teachers. It will include information about the products available on the Czech market, a set of experimental examples of various topics, including solutions, research relating to the use of experimental systems at schools and a research among pupils, whether these aids facilitate understanding of the topic. Part of the work will be filmed demonstration of experimental physics class, using a Pasco system.
Actuating methods and techniques of teaching in the subject of Chemistry at elementary school
BUDKOVÁ, Veronika
The aim of this thesis was to prove effectiveness of suitable teaching techniques and actuating methods into the subject of Chemistry. The endeavour was to increase pupils{\crq} activity, to hold pupils{\crq} interest on taught subject matter by a suitable leading and to achieve better results of knowledge of a chosen group of pupils in the end of the research. Within the experiment, there were chosen two groups of pupils of the 9th class. Every class has been situated at a different school. A class at the Elementary School in Počátky was chosen as the first experimental group. The experimental teaching was complemented with suitable actuating methods and techniques of teaching. A class from the Elementary School in Žďár nad Sázavou was chosen for the checking group. This group was taught by traditional methods. On the basis of evaluation of input and output tests, the results were gained and confirmed the effectiveness of the experimental teaching.
