Optimization of Thermal Power Plant Operation
Šimůnková, Radana ; Morávek, Jan (referee) ; Mastný, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor’s thesis Optimization of the operation of thermal power plants has four parts. The first part presents the principle of electricity production. The second part presents an analysis of the technological scheme of the thermal power plant and the possibilities of increasing the efficiency of production units. The third part presents a mathematical model of two blocks working in parallel. The fourth part contains an economic evaluation of the proposed mathematical model.
Analysis of relationships among prices of electricity, supplying services, regulatory energy, carbon dioxide emission allowances and primary sources of energy
Srna, Jan ; Čambala, Petr (referee) ; Macháček, Jan (advisor)
This thesis describes possibilities of electricity trading. The thesis deals with subjects at the electricity market, defines their competences, obligations and relationships among these subjects. Trading places and their advantages and disadvantages are also described in the thesis. The thesis shows composition of the electricity price and informs about its partial components. Types of ancillary services are spoken and there is also comparison between selling wholesale electricity and providing ancillary services. An influence of primary fuels and emission allowances on the electricity price is included at the end of the thesis.
Impact assessment of the use of hydrogen-enriched natural gas
Galík, Tomáš ; Pospíšil, Jiří (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
The Master’s thesis reviews the topic of hydrogen in within European and Czech energy industry. Hydrogen’s usage in gas industry, heating industry and power engineering may play a significant role in meeting European Union’s ambitious goals aiming to reduce emission production. This work identifies specifications of technologies used to produce, transport, and use of hydrogen and their impact on today’s energy systems and safety. The technical, economic, and political context is emphasized. The technical part covers the topic of injecting hydrogen into natural gas and it’s impact on physico-chemical properties of gas. The work analyses concentrations of 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 molar percent of hydrogen in real composition of natural gas measured on a handover point of transition system. Furthermore, calculations for these mixtures have been done to determine a change in characteristics of a heat exchanger. The results show, that with higher concentrations of hydrogen, the power of heat exchanger rises, while the power of a burner decreases due to lower calorific value of gas mixture. The last chapter follows up on a economical analysis of fuel and emission allowance costs for above-mentioned concentrations of hydrogen in gas mixture. Specific values of combined cycle gas plant Počerady from year 2019 were used for calculations. The results show, that in all of the three considered scenarios of emission allowance price predictions, replacing hydrogen with natural gas did not have a positive economic impact.
CO2 Sources and Emission Trading System
Valentová, Helena ; Sitek, Tomáš (referee) ; Elbl, Patrik (advisor)
This thesis deals with issues of carbon dioxide emissions, its sources and legislation related to emission trading. The first part of the thesis provides basic information about carbon dioxide and its production. The second part summarizes sectors that emit the most carbon dioxide. The last part describes the international legislation related to emission allowances and carbon trading.
Environmental aspects of steam-gas power station Červený Mlýn
Šilar, Martin ; Kulichová, Lucie (referee) ; Matoušek, Antonín (advisor)
The master’s thesis deals with the environmental aspects of combined heat and power station Červený Mlýn (Red Mill). The introductory part of the thesis focuses on the current production technology and the electricity balance of the power station. The heat and power station (also called combined cycle heat and power plant) is scrutinized in terms of emissions sources, focusing on pollutant emissions to air in the following chapter. In this part of the thesis the quantities of the released emissions, namely solid particulate matter (TZL), sulfur dioxide (SO2), carbon dioxide (CO2) are also calculated. The calculation is worked out according to the valid Czech legislation. Further on, the current production technology of the power station is compared with the best available technologies according to the valid directive 2008/1/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning integrated pollution prevention and control. The last chapter presents the innovative technologies which could possibly be installed to reduce pollution emissions (especially nitrogen oxides - NOx) to air at the heat and power station Červený Mlýn.
Identifikace faktorů majících vliv na cenu emisních povolenek obchodovaných v rámci EU ETS
Joura, David
The main purpose of this bachelor thesis “Identification of factors influencing price of emission allowances traded within the EU ETS” is to clarify the market pricing of emission allowances by identifying the influence of factors effecting the emission price within the European Union Emission Trading Scheme. The introduction of the bachelor´s thesis deals with the environmental issues of carbon production, I. – IV. phase of the EU ETS and the function of the system “Cap and trade”. The practical part is devoted to econometric analysis of factors forming price. Based on the analyzes, the factors affecting price are commented and the results are compared with previously published studies.
Analysis of the emission allowances and their socio-environmental impacts
Krutská, Kristýna ; Suša, Oleg (advisor) ; Sieber, Martina (referee)
(in English): Each day, tons of carbon dioxide, greenhouse gasses and other pollutants are released into our atmosphere due to human activity. This causes a "greenhouse" effect, which contributes to global warming. To continue this course of action should be seen as unbearable for mankind as we are poisoning and destroying our planet. The Kyoto Protocol has become the launching platform of combatting this problem and it requires the developed countries involved to commit to a long-term reduction of green house gas emissions. The Czech Republic has embraced this scheme, and this involvement will be analysed. Trading with emission allowances is one of the main tools used by the Kyoto Protocol and this thesis analyses the genesis as well as the continued development of emission allowances and evaluates both the benefits and weaknesses of such a scheme.
