Economic analysis of moon phases on human behaviour
Klečková, Tereza ; Strielkowski, Wadim (advisor) ; Lelovská, Adriána (referee)
The moon and its lunar cycle is a theme that occurs in society since time immemorial. Does lunar cycle affect human life including its economic and social aspects? Do ordinary people and managers of large corporations act differently when the moon is full? Does consumer behavior change? Is at the time of the full moon rising crime and accidents? Can the effect of month on human behavior be scientifically tested? Although the above -mentioned topic may seem a bit bizarre I decided to process it in my thesis. Nowadays is popularization of science very important and widely used by for example the leading economic faculties of leading universities in the USA and the UK. This work attempts to answer the above questions and test the above mentioned context by using econometric methods. In this work we can read about the moon and myths and legends which are bind to it. The thesis presents several studies that have addressed the topic before, and their results. And then it will analyze available data from three basic areas of human behavior - crime, healthcare and business. The results which I reached are interesting and significantly confirm the influence of the lunar cycle in two of three selected aspects of human behavior - health and trade.

Essays on Economic Behaviour
Hudík, Marek ; Kadeřábková, Božena (advisor) ; Pavlík, Ján (referee) ; Boettke, Peter (referee)
The main thesis of these essays is that social phenomena are different from psychological phenomena and thus social sciences do not belong to behavioural sciences. Chapter 1 introduces the fundamental problem of the rational choice theory ("Macaulay's problem"): either the theory is empirical and false or it is without empirical content and true. Various suggested solutions to this problem are reviewed and criticized. It is argued that the problem is evaded once it is admitted that rational choice theory does not attempt to explain behaviour. It was developed to explain decreasing individual demand and its extension to behavioural sciences is illegitimate. In Chapter 2 the difference between the interpretation of rationality in choice theory and demand theory is shown. It is argued that choice theory must adopt the agent's point of view, while demand theory proceeds from the point of view of an observer. Chapter 3 applies the argument to the problem of indifference ("Nozick's problem"): it claims that choice theory must adopt strict ordering of alternatives because indifference is already accounted for in the description of the choice alternatives. The difference between the consumer perception and the objective price-quantity relation embodied in the demand function is further explored in Chapter 4 on the example of the Rothbardian demand theory. It is argued that the law of marginal utility defined in terms of subjective units (i.e. units relevant to the consumer) does not imply nonincreasing demand. Chapter 5 is complementary to the previous and attempts to answer the question, whether the concept of marginal utility is compatible with ordinalism. Finally, Chapter 6 discusses on the methodological level the difference between behavioural sciences and economics. It argues that the difference can be conveniently described with the help of Popper's concepts of 'World 2'and 'World 3'.

Lehká, Michaela ; Hubinková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Lukeš, Martin (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to obtain comprehensive results for the population of the Czech Republic in the field of human values, value preferences and value charts by using results from conducted research and data from previous studies. Also an important objective of this thesis is to show the economic behavior of people in the Czech Republic at the time of the financial and economic crisis. As a theoretical basis for the practical part, three major, interrelated areas have been selected: economic behavior, focused on principles of individual decision-making and on media and their possible impact on the economy; life values; and economic development as a source of changes in economic behavior in terms of development on the labour market, development of education and development of ecology. Empirical part, which is called Research - changes in value preferences, is at first focused on the formulation of hypotheses, which relate to the issue, and on the creation of the questionnaire. The analysis and the interpretation of results can be considered as a pivotal chapter of the practical part of this thesis. It is divided into several sub-chapters according to the examined area.
