Development of Relations for Education in the 17th century in the Context of Burghers' Testaments (Example of New Town Prague)
Richter Musilová, Oldřiška ; Váňová, Růžena (advisor) ; Strouhal, Martin (referee)
The Development of Relations to Education in the 17th Century in the Context of Burgher Testaments (the Example of New Prague Town) Abstract Early modern testaments represent a unique source of information about many areas of life at a given historical period. They are frequently used in various areas of historical research, including Czech historiography and its new cultural history. Although the cultural history covers many topics, surprisingly, the field of education has been somewhat forgotten. The testaments, which unite the official information and personal testimonies, provide a unique chance to see the attitude of the society towards education in a historical context of a certain era. The testaments might become important especially when researching those periods of the development of scholarly systems and education that have been overlooked by historians, e.g. the development of town schools; respectively, the development of urban education in the period after the Battle of White Mountain (1620). The limited interest of historians has been caused mainly by the lack of information sources that could explain the changes in the organization of the newly formed confessional educational system after the Battle of White Mountain. These changes launched the process of recatholization of the Czech lands...

Síč, Jan ; Čechura, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Zdichynec, Jan (referee)
Economy of three generations of aristocrats from Pernstejn during the 16th century In my work I focus on the management of aristocrats from Pernstejn during the 16th century. On an example of three generations I am trying to show traditional forms of noble business, as well as new attempts for financial gain. I built my work on the data from sixteen urbary of Pernstejn manors reflecting the view of major aristocratic family on their own proactive approach to economic events in estates. Throughout the study I cover the history of aristocrats from Pernstejn from the beginnings to the end of the 16th century. Further I focus on the traditional forms of feudal profits also via more modern ways that started to be used during late medieval and early modern period. After that I describe the urbary and development of their studies. Furthermore, using an extant urbary I describe the economic situation in eight Pernstejn estates. In the final apendix I record all locations that are monitored in the urbary. Overall, I summarize the estates as outdated and not very profitable. According to me the self-interest of Pernstejn family in this area is minimal. Both facts led to financial bankruptcy of the family that during a certain period belonged to a political and property elite of the early modern Czech aristocracy. Key...
Telč in seventeenth century
MAREČEK, Jakub
The topic of my bachelor's work is the history of the town of Telč in the 17th century. I chose this historical epoch mainly for the reason that little attention was devoted to it in previous research of Telč history. First, I evaluate the works that have been written about Telč so far. I try to assess the approach of their authors and I investigate which historical period of the town they considered to be the heyday of time. I also focus on their view of the town in the 17th century. Subsequently, I incorporate Telč to the urban network in early modern times. I compare its size not only to towns in the Telč County but also to the size of urban settlements in Bohemia and Moravia. Afterwards, I introduce the members of Slavata family individually and their relationship to the town. Then, I concentrate on the impact of the Thirty Years War on the town and the situation thereafter. Finally, I reconstruct the appearance of the town administration on the basis of extant sources, its functioning and relationship to the castle lords in the last chapter.
The land rebels at the beginning of early modern times
VALIGOVÁ, Tereza
This bachelor work provides a comprehensive view of the land rebel on the basis of legal documents from the turn of the 14th and 15th century till 1627. Through the Land Code-book, royal decrees and concrete examples drawn from the noble correspondence from the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century, the work delimits the typology and the course of detriment. It defines the concrete land rebels, who were known throughout whole the Bohemian Kingdom. These were mainly Kryštof and Jindřich of Gutštejn, whose impact was extended to the foreign countries and thus they endangered the Bohemian Kingdom. Another one is the famous story of revenge to The Old Town of Prague from Jiřík Kopidlanský. The fight of estates between the nobility and cities was depicted on the background of this story.
The registers of correspondence of Nymburk 1629-1634 as a source for the emigration after the battle on the White Mountain
Ďurčanský, Marek
The study contents the comparation of older researches on the emigration from Czech lands after 1620 and the results of analysis of municipal correspondence of royal town Nymburk from 1629-1634. Most of the authors wrote about 150 citizens of Nymburk, the number based on two lists from 1626 and 1627 and published by T. V. Bílek in 1883. The study proves, that to 1629 at least 22 of them returned to Nymburk and even had high position in the municipal administration and at least 8 persons did not leave the Czech lands.
