The present thesis deals with the area of spirituality and the possibilities of spiritual accompaniment of people with mental disabilities. The theoretical part presents current knowledge about how people with learning disabilities experience the spirituality and the possibilities of spiritual accompaniment in the Czech environment. The practical part, in the form of participatory research carried out together with people with learning disabilities, looks at the experience of spiritual accompaniment integrated into the activities of everyday life.

Spiritual Accompanyment in a Salesian Religious Community

The thesis "Spiritual Accompanying in a Salesian Religious Community" is first trying to map out some possible concepts of the spiritual accompanying in a view of contemporary authors and then to show on the basis of ecclesiastical documents its place in the religious community (1st chapter). After that it deals with the manner of spiritual accompanying in the tradition of the salesian charism, specifically how it was realized by the founders - John Bosco (2nd chapter) and Mary Dominica Mazzarello (3rd chapter). On the basis of a previous, with regard to the current documents of The Daughters of Mary Help of Christian Institute and the teachings of its superiors, and considering the situation of the world today, the thesis points out some aspects which seem to be actual for the salesian style of accompanying today (4th chapter).

Disertační práce se zabývá problematikou seniorského věku a snaží se poukázat na některé základní přístupy v souvislosti s porozuměním této velmi heterogenní a diverzifikované skupině, těžiště přitom klade do vzájemného vyváženého poměru speciálně pedagogických přístupů a teologicko-pastorální impulsů. Toto spojení však vyžaduje hledání společného dialogu mezi vědami a umožňuje tak najít kvalitní základnu pro porozumění seniorům v jejich integrovaném životním příběhu a zasadit se tak o kvalitní, ale i efektivní péči navazující na poznatky humanitních, medicínských i společenských věd. Zvolená metoda vyžaduje multidisciplinární přístup a vzdělání, které přesahuje hranice vymezení oborů. Práce využívá jako zdroj kvalitativní výzkum, který byl zaměřen na širokou oblast kvality života seniorů a zohledňoval též spirituální otázky. Vzhledem k volbě metody je daný text ukotven ve výpovědích klientů, čímž získává pestrost, autenticitu a praktické ukázky příběhů, zkušeností a otázek. Práce je členěna do pěti kapitol, které postupně kopírují jednotlivé tematické oblasti. Vychází z teoretických a praktických přístupů, přičemž vše propojuje s poznatky získaný během terénního výzkumu. Significance of Psycho-spiritual Care in the Old Age Period. Stimulating the Development of the Elderly in the Field of Special Needs Education

The Dissertation deals with the issue of the senior age and tries to point out some basic approaches in understanding this very heterogeneous and diversified group, the emphasis is put on the mutual balance between special pedagogical approaches and theological and pastoral impulses. This connection, however, requires searching a common dialogue among sciences and allows finding a quality base for understanding seniors in their integrated story of life and thus promoting a quality but also effective care following the findings of the humanities, medicine and social sciences. The method chosen requires a multidisciplinary approach and education that goes beyond the boundaries delimitating particular disciplines. The source used here is the qualitative research, which was focused on a wide area of the life quality of older people, and which also reflected spiritual issues. In view of the method chosen, the text is embedded in the testimonies of the clients, thereby gaining diversity, authenticity and practical demonstrations of stories, experience and issues. The Role of Emotions in Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius of Loyola This thesis deals with the topic of emotions in spiritual exercises of Ignatius of Loyola. It describes the main principles of these exercises and their original sources. By using of publications of several Jesuit authors and psychiatrist Gerald May shows the importance of properly experienced emotional movements, not only for our spiritual life. The thesis operates both with the knowledge of the authors of the last century and the 21st century. The outcome of this thesis is to summarize findings, emphasising of the essential information from the point of view of the author and possible additions.

Specifics od Field Work with Women exploited in the Sex Industry

This thesis deals with the topic of sexual exploitation of women in prostitution from the perspective of field social work and the activities of the Christian mission NGO - OM Czech Republic (OM ČR). It introduces the issue of prostitution and sexual exploitation as closely- linked negative phenomena in society. It analyzes contemporary theoretical positions and types of legal regulations of prostitution in different countries, including the Czech Republic. It also describes the method of field work and its application to the target group of women in prostitution, general characteristics, and the specifics of sexually exploited persons. It deals in greater detail with the principles of field work with this socially stigmatized group. The work of OM ČR is introduced by recalling the biblical paradigms of missions, the deaconry and the pastorate, and the principles of the pursuit of social justice, the holistic approach to man, and the involvement of Christians in social work. These paradigms and principles are also used in the ministry of OM ČR, including during field work with the target group. The individual aspects of the work are described in detail.

The ministry of youth chaplain

This thesis deals with chaplain servise for youth in Czech Republic. In the theoretical part I define concept of youth, chaplain for youth and group, with which chaplain for youth works. Next I describe and explain tasks od chaplain for youth according to Pastoral Plan Department for Youth Czech Bishops' Conference. Practical part contains evaluation of questionnaires from chaplains for youth from Czech Republic. I evaluace here, how much time chaplains for youth pay for youth in different vicarages/deaneries, how often they speak about youth with others priests, I observe collaboration of chaplains for youth with monastic communities, DCM, DCŽM and lay representatives for the vicariate/deaneries.

The spiritual needs of people infected with and affected by HIV and AIDS

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the area of systematic spiritual companionship for people infected with the HIV virus and ill with AIDS, its present possibilities and limits. It attemps to answer the question what spiritual needs do people with HIV/AIDS have and whether they are successful in finding spiritual support in others. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the present state of spiritual companionship for terminally ill, basic facts on the issue of AIDS/HIV in the Czech Republic and the characteristics of the most threatened groups. The second part details original qualitative research carried out within this thesis, analyses the state of spiritual life of HIV-positive people by means of in-depth interviews and presents the issue from the viewpoint of companions. Finally, the thesis proposes specific steps to be taken to improve the situation of those infected, in particular in what concerns interaction with the Roman Catholic Church.
