Vojacek, F. Perception and implementation of the concept of smart cities in the Czech Republic. Thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno. Faculty of Regional Development and International Studies, 2023. This master's thesis focuses on the concept of smart cities and their implementation in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the characteristics and criteria of smart cities, their benefits, and their contributions to cities, as well as the challenges and obstacles associated with their implementation. Furthermore, the individual areas and tools of smart cities are introduced. In the empirical part of the thesis, data analysis was conducted based on interviews with representatives of cities and municipalities participating in projects related to the concept of smart cities. The results of this thesis showed that several cities in the Czech Republic have already successfully participated in the concept of smart cities, but there are still several barriers that prevent its widespread adoption and successful implementation. The housing estates’ regeneration in accordance with the interests of the heritage care

This methodical guide is based on a synthesis of three approaches to the revitalization of panel housing – urbanist, heritage and architectural. The guide aims to contribute to increasing the lifespan of panel housing while maintaining the estates‘ key values for their residents. It provides suggestions on how best to cultivate the housing estates‘ environment and to positively influence their status within the commonly held image of inhabited landscapes as an effective part of sustainable development of the structure of settlements in the Czech Republic. The guide strives to effectuate change in societal opinion by showcasing panel housing’s domestic history, embodied values and potential for development within the international context. Aside from foreign experiences, it focuses on an original and proven domestic method of facade appearance regulation. Adherence to basic regulations for the foundation and continuous upkeep of traditional urban structures helps panel housing to become a regular part of said structures. The guide encourages searching, appreciation and protection of outstanding and original solutions. The recognition of the specifics of Czech housing estates, which the guide identifies, is to serve as a starting point for their universal acceptance and eventual heritage care.

The Comparison of Approaches towards the Education of Roma in the Czech Republic and in the United Kingdom

The aim of this thesis is to compare the approaches towards education of Roma pupils at primary schools in the Czech Republic and Great Britain. The thesis identifies British good practices that could be implemented in Czech environment and explores the conditions that have tobe fulfilled for a successful implementation of these good practices. A theoretical framework of policy transfer is used to determine the conditions of a successful transfer. The thesis describes the history and the present of Roma education in the Czech lands and identifies problematic points that lead not only to the persisting segregation and to deepening of unequal access to education, but also to a severe disruption of social cohesion. Using the interviews with experts on education, the thesis identifies the policies used for inclusion of Roma pupils in the mainstream education in Great Britain. The thesis also focuses on the role of expert opinions during the policy transfer and it tries to find out whether there is a relationship between shared policy beliefs and shared opinions on particular policies or whether there are other factors taken into account when the experts formulate their opinions.

The aim of this paper is to describe the process of raising funds on the example of selected non-profit organizations, which can be described as "good practice". Is a case study of one case, which case is the process of raising funds to non-profit organizations with their own fundraising department and integrated social enterprise. There were examined the activities within the processes, the organization structure of the actors involved and the external influences on the processes. Data were obtained by semi-structured interviews, participant observation and document analysis. The data analysis was open coding. Results of the research of the process of raising funds in this work provides a description of these processes that are "good practice". The most important characteristics of the processes were the organization and targeting of the activities, good promotion, reducing dependence on sources with their diversity and active struggle against external influences. The Issue of Domestic Violence and Its Solutions in Practice from the Perspective of Public and Civil Sector in Hradec Kralove

The work is dedicated to solving the problem of domestic violence in Hradec Králové. The issue is seen from the practice in social work and provides insight into the stakeholders, namely the staff of the organizations or institutions of civil and public sector. The main focus is generally not only effective solution, but also specific assumptions success, and convenient tools, motivation and attitudes. Generally, all facts and factors affecting appropriate solution to the social problem in that region are examined. The approach of Hradec Králové appears to be an example of good practice, while the research seeks to clarify what is really involved. The view of the main involved actors, their motives and ways to engage themselves is also relevant. The first part describes the theoretical background, current approaches and solutions to institutional preconditions in terms of field research. The second part of the thesis based on research answers to research questions explains what exactly is behind the successful resolution of the issues. The functioning of collective authorities in the organizational structure of non-profit organizations

This Master's thesis deals with collective bodies in non-governmental non-profit organizations in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part acquaints the reader with basic concepts such as non-profit organization and its possible legal forms in the Czech Republic, mission, fundraising, public relations, strategic planning and briefly introduces the collective bodies of foreign organizations. The practical part is then based on good practices of six organizations, whose representatives of collective bodies were willing to share their experiences. The organizations were selected on the basis of successful participation in the competition Non-Profit Organization of the Year, in which they were placed among the top three in their category (some of them even for several years). Among these organizations we can find one registered institute, two public benefit societies and three registered associations. Since these organizations aren't with the same legal form, their collective bodies are also different. During the description of good practices, it was found, however, that the degree of motivation with which the members of the collective bodies of the surveyed organizations commit themselves to their work and their active involvement in the operations of the organization does not differ. The Growing Education at the Selected Elementary Schools

This diploma thesis deals with teaching growing at primary schools. In the teoretical part the subject growing is charakterized and there is a brief history of teaching this practical subject. Furthermore, attention is paid to the current representation of growing in school education programs, there is an overview of expected outcomes and content of the subject matter of this course and possibilities of application of cross-curricular themes and interdisciplinary relations within it. At the end of the theoretical part there are spatial possibilities for teaching this subject, possibilities of innovation of subject and its link with food sovereignty and the use of local food. The practical part firstly answering the basic research question: How is the teaching of the subject of cultivation work in selected primary schools? The characteristics of each school are described, the hourly subsidies and forms of teaching of this subject, the equipment of the school for the teaching of the course, and the current, interesting and unconventional methods that can serve as examples of good practice of teaching Cultivation works. Examples of good practise of social work with drug users from the point of view of social workers in contact centers

This bachelor work focuses on examples of good practise of social works with drug users from a view of contact workers. The theoretical part represents target group, specific methods of working with them, available equipment and provided services within low-treshold facilities. The closure is focused on direct work with clients, comunication and establishing contacst with clients. In the practical part I am trying to figure out if practice corresponds to knowledge from literature and what is good practise with users of addictive drugs at contact centres like. The research is performed trough semi-structured interviews with workers of contact centres from South Bohemian Region who already have certain experiences at contact work. The result of the research is finding examples of good practise with drug users from a view of contact workers.
Good professional practice in social work with mothers with children in asylum home

This bachelor reasearch deals with the topics of good practice with mothers with children in Shelter homes and also it deals with their clients and their work staff. The main objective of this procect was to find out what methods, theories and techniques workers in shelter homes can use with clients. The thesis consists of a theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part is divided into four sections, dealing with questions about the shelter itself, clients, shelter workers, and how workers deal with clients in the facility. Qualitative research was selected to achieve the required information. At which, open encoding was performed. Information was gathered through polling and semi-structured interview techniques. The research group was made up of seven ifnormants. Informants were shelter workers and workers in social services. The research was carried out in two shelters, in the Asylum House for Women and Mothers with Children in Opava and in the Asylum House in Šromov in Prague. Interviews were recorded on the devices, which were recorded on the voice recorder and subsequently rewritten. The information obtained was processed using the trumpet method. Research has identified various methods, theories, techniques by which workers use with mothers with children in shelter's homes. In addition, it has been found out how it is effective with direct contact with clients l and what was the next job development for workers in the Shelter home. The results of the bachelor's reasearch can be used for workers in asylum homes, for their further development, as well as for students of Social Services oriented high schools and Universities who plan to work in such a facility. Subsequently, reasearch work can also be used as a teaching material.
