Gallery of modern architecture
Štrocholcová, Eva ; Ing. arch. Petra Žalmanová, Ph.D (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor)
Main task of the project was to create a proposal of Gallery of architecture which would be integrated into the residential colony in context of surrounding city structure. The plot is situated on south-west of the city part Brno-sever, in close connection with city centre, in steep slope. Currently, its function is a garden of adjacent plots. The plot is located close to the national cultural monument Villa Tugendhat, registered in The World Heritage List. Therefore, the new gallery should react to its existence. Proposal suggests locating of new object in north-eastern part of the plot for maximal usage of plot’s main potential that is a view to historical city centre. Main intention of design was a sensitive intervention to the area to keep calm atmosphere of surrounding residential colony with significant villas and to use potential and topographical advantages of the parcel. At the same time there was an effort to find a concept that would provides suitable conditions for exhibitions. The proposal tries to maximize usage of natural lighting which plays here an important role. Building seems to be a single storey object from the street. 2 floors are recessed into terrain and thanks to this overcome high difference between street and terrace in lower part of the plot. Object is divided into 3 functional units: The Gallery (exhibition area), The Studios (leasable space for architects for work and presentation of their projects) and The Theatre (space for other activities focused on architecture, such as lectures and projections). Walls and roofs of units are inclined to utilize potentials of site for the specific function and become polygonal shapes that meet the initial intention. Glassed inclined plane penetrates through the interior of gallery. It defines a spatial skylight that lets natural light from the north come to every corner of Gallery. It creates relationship between interior and exterior and connects all the functional units of the object.

FACE or a BODY´S PROJECTION SCREEN
Joura, Bořek ; HAVELKA, Jiří (advisor) ; MĚCHÁČEK, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis aims to describe the structures of a face and consequently explain the ways of communicating emotions between people. Different methods were used for the base of my thesis: I studied pictures of various facial expressions and read different specialized books - with theatrical as well as scientific content. My focus was on the very details of human's face. I was searching to find out how people are able to understand one another. I realized that human communication goes beyond mere words. I find this revelation useful for my further theatrical work as the details in particular facial expressions differentiate the good actors from the bad ones.

MARGINAL MUSIC SUBCULTURES AND EASTHETIC CONNECTED WITH THEM AS A STARTING POINT OF THE AUTHOR'S PERFORMANCE.
Burdová, Barbora ; SMOLÍK, Robert (advisor) ; KRÁLOVÁ, Andrea (referee)
The whole thesis has been trying to have a look into marginal music subcultures as a field of inspiration necessary with forming an author´s performance. One of the main sources of that is the metal sub-culture which is divided into other sub-sub-fields. Author is fixing the blackmetal sub-culture into center of attention and she is trying to undercover its possibilities by theatrical items. She is trying to look at common values between theater and metal music and she is interested in how to utilize music itself, which actually serves as sound curtain only. During authors creation she is interested into expression means replacing the text. Into the front position metal aesthetic is posted, as an outlet of scenographic way of thinking and creating, and last but not least, it is the main concern of interpretation of Sami´s culture and its transformation into theatrical form.
