The objective of the bachelor's thesis is to describe the origin and development of the phenomenon of the cult of personality in Romania after the Second World War, from the declaration of the Romanian People's Republic in 1947 to the collapse of the communist regime in 1989. The author focuses on different forms of the cult of personality of G. Gheorghiu-Dej and N. Ceauşescu which he compares and documents with examples of Romanian post-war literature.
Personality Cult in Turkmenistan 1991-2006

This case study discusses the role of Turkmen president Saparmurat Turkmenbashi's personality cult as a part of Turkmen totalitarian ideology. The work's scope is restricted by a time period beginning with the country's declaration of independence in 1991 and ending by president's death in 2006. The work analyses the manner the personality cult served the president to keep his power. It builds upon a thesis that personality cult is a defining feature of Turkmen totalitarianism. Using empirical analysis, the author attempts to analyze the effects of the personality cult on the society and daily life in Turkmenistan and tries to clarify the mechanisms of political power and the position of the personality cult within the regime. The cult marks many aspects of daily life in Turkmenistan - politics, society, architecture, culture, media and even the schooling system and history interpretation.

Thesis Propaganda in soviet and nazi biographical film of thirthies of 20th century: Specifics of film medium as an instrument of propaganda researches group of three soviet and three german Motion pictures. It focuses on nuances of using ideological meanings, creation of myths and sees examples of both cinematographies through Umberto Eco's Open work theory. It uses the methods of discurse and comparative analysis and compares few important aspects of main characters of analysed pictures. On this basis it creates generally valid conclusions.

Czechoslovakia under communist totalitarianism in film and series and their use for education

This diploma thesis focuses on the appropriate and effective use of film and serial adaptations of topics falling into the period of communist totalitarianism in Czechoslovakia (that is between 1948 and 1989, with emphasis on the period 1948-1969). The thesis is divided into four chapters, whereas the main part, which is didactic, is described in the third and fourth chapter. The first chapter describes the basic historical context of the communist government in Czechoslovakia between 1948 and 1989. It also shows and explains the origin of the idea of communism, the further development of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia during the First Republic, and the postwar Third Republic. This chapter was put together using found edited sources and secondary literature. The second chapter deals with individual film and serial processing of topics related to the period. It presents specific films and series which were produced in the most recent years (or the post-revolutionary period), but also materials produced during the totalitarianism before 1989. The specific development of Yugoslavia after the Second World War and different views of self-governing socialism

This bachelor thesis focuses on the specific development of post-war Yugoslavia, especially about self-governing socialism which can be considered as finding the new way of socialism. This issue is closely related with historical context of post-war development. Thanks to the conflict with Soviet Union the need of settling new political system could be the way of better fitting socialism. The status of Yugoslavia was considerably more complicating due to exclusion of the Soviet sphere, however, it was a new opportunity. The aim of the thesis is to clarify how the self-governing system worked and why it was introduced. For a comprehensive view of self-government, different views on this system have been added. The first chapter deals with the historical context in Yugoslavia and the theory of the self-governing system. The second chapter deals with different views of self-governing socialism. This chapter is subdivided into other subchapters, divided by time - between the regime's theorists and historians (experts who evaluate the system with time and with the fact that it is not directly incorporated into it). (in English): This bachelor's thesis is focused on the manifestations of the cult of communist functionaries in Czechoslovakia between years 1948 and 1955, specifically on the cult of personality in children's magazines (Jiskry, Vlaštovička, Mateřídouška, Ohníček, Pionýr, Pionýrské noviny, Práce pionýrů). The thesis is namely about Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin, Klement Gottwald, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, Antonín Zápotocký and Zdeněk Nejedlý. The author used discourse analysis as a method. The research deals with the image of these individuals, with the facts of their lives that are presented as significant. The analysis points out attributes ascribed to these historical figures; there is sameness, but on the other hand there are also distinctions in the way of representing these politicians.
