Idiomatic Phrases in the Novell "Buchmendel" from Stefan Zweig and in its Translation into Czech

This bachelor's thesis pursues the contrastive comparison of Czech and German idioms in Stefan Zweig's novel "Buchmendel" and its Czech translation. Besides the theoretical description of idioms, its characteristic features and its classification deals the thesis with the contrastive phraseology, which was taken into account in the practical section, where the found idioms were divided according to their degree of equivalence, compared and commented. The center of interest is the appraisal of the suitability of the translation.
Phrasemes in the work by M. Viewegh and their Czech Translations. A Corpus Analysis.

This thesis deals with contrastive phraseology. It compares the use of phrasemes in the work by M. Viewegh and their German translations, with focus on somatic phrasemes. The thesis is conceived as a corpus analysis. For the purpose of the thesis was chosen three Vieweghs texts and their German translations from the InterCorp corpus for comparison. InterCorp is a parallel corpus that was created at the Institute of the Czech National Corpus at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. The object of the work is to describe differences or correspondences in the use of somatic phrasemes in the work by Viewegh and its German translations. Binomials in German, Czech and English

This diploma thesis deals with the topic Binomials in German, Czech and English. The theoretical part defines the basic terminology related to phraseology and phraseologisms. Furthermore, the theoretical part describes the definition and classification of binomials. The first part contains the gathered German binomials which are compared with their Czech and English equivalents using methods of contrastive phraseology which is described in the theoretical part. The expressions are compared on the basis of the classification of types of equivalence according to Helgunde Henschel (1993). In the second part are introduced results of analysis of textbooks and workbooks that correspond to reference levels A1 B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The aim of this part is to gather binomials and further analyse them. The third part focuses on presentation of preparation of one teaching lesson that includes binomials.
Gender-Specific Phraseology in Contrast Analysis on the Basis of Phrases Relating to Women in German and Czech

In this thesis the author looks into gender problematics in German and Czech phraseology. The theoretical part includes definitions of basic terminological concepts and describes typical characteristics of phraseologisms, their classification, contrastive phraseology, and gender problematics in language. The practical part focuses on selected gender oriented phraseologisms concerning women together with their Czech equivalents and meanings. Phraseologisms in German and Czech are divided into groups according to their degree of correspondence. Attention is focused mainly on meanings, structure, and vocabulary of phraseological units.
An analysis of phrasemes with the components "earth", "fire", "water" and "wind" in the parallel corpus InterCorp and in the German-Czech dictionary of phrases

(in English) This thesis deals with the processing of selected phrases with the components earth, fire, water and air in a German-Czech dictionary of phrases and compares the data given there with authentic samples from the Czech National Corpus. In the first part, the reader is presented with theoretical principles of phraseology, which are the basis for the subsequent analysis. The analysis is carried out in the second part of the thesis. Among other things, the suitability of the translation propositions of the dictionary of phrases with a special consideration of the formal and semantic aspects is discussed. In addition, the actual translations in the corpus samples are also analysed and assessed. Finally, the thesis and the results of the analysis are summarized and conclusions are drawn.

Kinegrams in the Contrastive Phraseology German - Czech

This bachelor thesis deals with kinegrams in German and Czech language. It is divided into two main parts, namely the theoretical and practical part. The former defines the main terminology of phraseological discipline, typical features of phraseologisms and their classification. Additonally, the terms kinegram and confrontational phraseology are described. The practical part is concerned with assigning czech equivalents to the german kinegrams in contrastive phraseology. Consequently, the kinegrams are divided into five groups according to their equivalence. Some of the kinegrams are described in detail with help of contemporary german press.
