The foundational activities of the Markvartic family in North Bohemia in the context of 13th century Central European architecture
Panošková, Tereza ; Macek, Petr (advisor) ; Kubík, Viktor (referee)
My diploma thesis is focused on the foundational activities of the Markvartic family which is one of the most prominent families in Northern Bohemia of its time. In terms of the investigated area and period, the diploma thesis is a continuation of the author's bachelor thesis which was focused on the foundational activities of the House of Wartenberg which had a common ancestor with the Markvartic family. The work's focus is the evaluation of relics of preserved buildings in historical and cultural context, where their original feature was changed by later building measures. Every object will be described and analyzed using secondary literature, material and literary sources. The result of this method will be a short synthesis including the outline buildings stages of objects and their style evaluation. This method will be applied on the background of historical contexts, which represent connections of the Markvartics and royal court and the Cisterciensis, Dominicans and Johanites Order.
The paintings in the cloister of St. Wenceslas Church in the context of wall paintings at the turn of the 16th century in Olomouc
Haragová, Vladěna ; Ottová, Michaela (advisor) ; Royt, Jan (referee)
The first part of the paper deals with the mural paintings on a Christological theme decorating the northern and eastern walls of the High Gothic ambulatory, which is a part of the National cultural monument Přemyslid Castle. Last Judgement, Annunciation, Adoration of the Magi and Adoration of the Shepherds are depicted on the northern side of the cloister. On the opposite wall between the windows there is a representation of two donators. The eastern front of the ambulatory is decorated with scenes depicting the Crucifixion, Lamentation, Resurrection and Christ with the Arma Christi. Paintings are dated successively from the late 15th century to the first two decades of the 16th century. The different dating of paintings, of course, demonstrates various inspirational sources. The study also reflects many recent discoveries that reveal the origins of the decoration of the cloister. These paintings were probably commissioned by members of the Olomouc Chapter, who were in close contact with Humanistic Societas Maierhofiana. Further the paper focuses on the wall paintings in the John the Baptist' Chapel, where the scenes adorn not only the walls, but also the vault of the eastern field. The frescos were probably created between 1493 and 1517 by the hands of several painters.

We can consider his work as a first stage of the architectonical production which was implemented for the one of the most important personality of the Thirty Year War - the duke Albrecht of Walenstein. The circle of Walenstein architects was created by three distinctive representatives, those proved successfully individually but also as a team working above the joint projects. They were able to fulfill the Wallenstein magnificent intentions. These architects were Andrea Spezza, Giovanni Pieroni and Nicola Sebregondi. These three Italians architects and builders were leading figures of the mentioned circle of which part were also Vincenzo Bocacci, Baccio Bianco and Giovanni Marini. Their activities is possible to trace on our territory in the period 1621-1634 except Giovanni Pieroni, who was focused after the duke death to the projects of fortification systems, mainly in Bohemia. Studies showed that the origin of architects, including the places where they have been raised and received the first training, was always important and influenced their...
