Historical Houses Jihlava
Vymazalová, Tereza ; Kafková, Tereza (referee) ; Havliš, Karel (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the issue of "Jihlava historical houses" (hereinafter JHD), which primary use today is for a permanent housing with unsatisfactory characteristics. Most apartments consist of a studio apartment with minimal or shared sanitary facilities. This condition arose due to the layout changes during the 18th and 19th centuries, when a large part of the spacious Renaissance and Baroque palace houses were transformed into intensively used apartment buildings. Given the situation persists to this day, it is necessary to think about changing the nature of such houses as part of the city's development. The diploma thesis addresses the location of the southeastern tip of Jihlava's Masaryk Square, which has the ambition to soon transform into a cultural HUB of the city and includes seven JHD. As more than half of these houses were already discussed at the faculty, the university have already prepared a plan of changes in the houses` nature. It is nonetheless necessary for a comprehensive overview of changes in the locality to prepare a study of the last two JHD, which are adjacent to one another. The objective of the paper is to address the functional characteristics of these houses regarding their placement within the city. Consideration is given to the studies and planned changes within the area - the reconstruction of Masaryk Square and the ongoing reconstruction of the house Masaryk Square 21, which bound to become the center of culture, education and tourism. The houses No. 22 and 23, which this paper addresses, are now enclosed by the future cultural and social house and the existing Vysočina Regional Gallery - this location thus significantly affects their use in the future. House No. 23, which is characterized by its large inner hall with a porch, is directly adjacent to the Regional Gallery of Vysočina, which faces the lack of a representative entrance facilities for visitors and insufficient space for a permanent exhibition. In terms of functionality, the house No. 23 is suitable for cultural purposes and so the existing Vysočina Gallery Area merges with it and its main entrance is moved. House No. 22 retains the function of a permanent housing, primarily due to its good layout, but is more up to the standards of Jihlava. The mentioned four houses influence the adjoining accessible courtyard, which is transformed into a new attractive public space. The outcome of the paper is not only an urban and architectural study of two addressed houses and the adjacent courtyard, but also an evaluation of the overall functional change of the site in the future, including other JHD. Primarily, the monofunctional nature is removed from the addressed location, which now finds itself unsuitable for housing, and a new functional characteristic are proposed that support the development of the southern tip of Masaryk Square, but at the same time respect the essence of the housing, which should always be primarily based upon the customized needs. The paper is an overview of the future functional development of this locality and discusses the possibilities of how the city of Jihlava could manage the historical houses within the area and thus significantly affect life in the city.
The GAP in Brno
Cvrčková, Aneta ; Horký, Jan (referee) ; Palaščák, Michal (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the architectural design of a building in a gap in the historic center of Brno. The selected land is located in Františkánská Street. The space is formed by a corner connecting the space called Římské náměstí with the street towards Masarykova street. The new building is complemented by a city block. Its height respects the scale of the surrounding buildings. The building contains thirteen new housing units and areas of civic amenities. The sun exposure had an important influence on the design, which is the basis for the size of the transparent areas and the overall layout of the interior layout. The mass follows the historical buildings and at the same time is designed to correspond to the development tendencies of today's architecture.
Visions for Krnov
Grunwaldová, Veronika ; Kocián, Václav (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
WHAT WAS THE SPACE? The space was behind the castle walls. A space in close vicinity of which a trade route to nearby Poland passed. A space with water propulsion. A space with the textile industry. WHAT IS THE SPACE? It is an inaccessible, deserted place. An empty space, where a skeleton of an old textile factory with buried water propulsion remained. WHAT IS THE SPACE SUPPOSED TO BE? It is supposed to be a place, where life is going to return. A place for the generations to meet at, relaxing and other leisure activities, but also a living place. A place, complementing the green ring of the city.
Baugruppe Now
Šťastná, Anna ; Císler, Ondřej (referee) ; Hora, Jan (advisor)
Baugruppe, as an alternative option for housing, is made up of a group of people who are looking for a way to create their own housing according to their ideas. They become developers themselves, looking for interesting solutions for their housing that the regular real estate market does not offer. Together, they find land that is often less attractive to ordinary developers and compromise to decide on all the design steps. For the proposed Baugruppe, the site is situated in the town Znojmo, Czech republic. The plots were chosen in such a way that they did not have any particular qualities - on the contrary, that they were rather places that were not at first sight very attractive. The theme of the work is to portray the Baugruppe way of living as community housing. The proposal seeks to figure out a way to make community coexistence as natural as possible for all Baugruppe participants. Whether just meeting the neighbors on the way to their apartments, meeting on the terrace with a friend from the opposite apartment or organizing an event in the common interior/exterior spaces for all Baugruppe participants. All these spaces create a slightly different atmosphere and become a combination of different small worlds that intertwine with each other. At the same time, the aim of the work is to create a house that opens up to its surroundings while allowing all the events of the house to take place undisturbed inside.

My bachelor thesis deals with the design of a town building. The building is located near the center of Brno on the steep foot of Park spilberk at Husova Street. There are entrances to the 10-Z bunker at the foot of the hill and a footpath leading from Spilberk Park. My intention was to design an object that would connect the center (city) and park (nature). The design is based on the appearance of a town building with a residential function and services. Part of the work is also the modification of the surrounding park areas and transport corridor.

Nováková, Barbora ; Págo, Tomáš (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
The goal of my project is urban delimitation for social and cultural life of people. The multifunctional building takes place along the Lerchova’s street and it is a closing point of the square. The other side of affore mentioned square is opened towards the park on Kravi hora. The dominant place is a st. Augustin church, that is located on the north side. The closing point on the south is a cultural center, which is connected with community garden. My main intention is to change a traffic situation, that is currently quite problematic. To accomplish this I have joined the Udolni and Brezinova streets together with a perpendicular street. The tram loop is also shifted more into the parkside. The main object is the 5 floor multifunctional building, that is in elementary concept with passage. The object determines natural communication axis from the square to school in the Lerchova’s street. This concept is also reflected on the square. First floor is realized as a parter with commercial usage, the floor above is designed for living and parking is in the underground. Area for living is divided into a part of 1 floor housing units, that are accessible from a platform and a part of housing units inside the main building. Project comprises blue-green elements of grass surface for sucking the water into soil, trees in the square and perennial bed in the middle of tram loop.
The GAP in Brno
Burian, Vít ; Bitaudeau Vašková, Petra (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The work deals with the design of a building in a selected gap - a gap in the center of Brno. It seeks to use this currently unused or insufficiently used space, responds to problems and relationships in the place and tries to bring benefits to the site. A six-storey town house is designed in the given place, the predominant function of which is housing. On the ground floor we find commercial premises and due to the fact that the house stands on city land, also social services - clubhouse and hall. The character of the house is completed by the atrium, which solves the making of the space inside the house.
